Hero/Abercrombie will likely be very good, Sydal/Davis can go either way, Jacobs/Black seems like a good pairing but might be as plain Jane as Sydal/Black was in MidLo, Thomaselli and Brave should have a great high-flying match, and Delirious/CC should be one hell of a comedy match. Guest Evolution Report post Posted June 4, 2005 Quick results: In a battle royale to decide who would take Jimmy Jacobs' place in the three-way TLC match on July 8th in Muscatine, Tyler Black eliminated Chris Hero and Ian Rotten as the final three, as the match is now Ryan Boz vs. Abyss vs. Tyler Black. Jacobs came out right after the match and congratulated Tyler, calling him a future CM Punk, but saying that it's his spot that Tyler is taking. Tyler Black d. Jimmy Jacobs via disqualification, when Jacobs seemed to be going for the midsection but missed and got nothing but testicles. Rather short match, but the crowd went nuts for Tyler Black. After the match, Ian entered the ring and dropped some more great news for Black. In addition to his TLC match for the NWA Iowa State Title, Black has been invited to the Ted Petty Invitational this year in Hammond, Indiana. Ian decided to do this before July 2nd, in case he no longer owns IWA after WarGames. But there was one twist: Black would come in as seed #24. Which means he would face none other than defending TPI champion A.J. Styles in the first round. The crowd rose in a standing ovation as Black openly weeped at the huge opportunity being given to him. Arik Cannon d. Chandler McClure, Jason(?) Strife, Rian Cruz in a four-way. Strife got the crap beat out of him by Cannon, taking a ridiculous backdrop driver and an equally ridiculous Glimmering Warlock as Cannon got the win. Matt Sydal d. Trik Davis -- Don't remember how Sydal won, but he did win. Not a very memorable match by any means. Billy Gunn d. Ryan Boz with the FameAsser when Jacobs ran in with the ref preoccupied checking on Billy, hitting Boz with the Contra Code and setting Boz up for Gunn's finish. Good to see that they saved this for before intermission instead of having it be the main event, since it would pay off in the end. Next two matches might be out of order, since that time was pretty fuzzy. Brandon Thomaselli d. Marek Brave in a match that was more about the mat wrestling than any high-flying stuff. Marek did hit a frog splash, as that seems to be his high-flying move of choice. Delirious d. Claudio Castagnoli with the Shadows Over Hell in a very fine match that saw plenty of comedy, including some shenanigans with Claudio's comb (that ended up in the grasp of Bryce Remsberg). Chris Hero d. Josh Abercrombie in what was no doubt the match of the night. A heel section in support of Abercrombie was established early, but the Hero fans overwhelmed them in the end. Abercrombie then got into it with a energetic female Chris Hero fan in the front row, eventually threatening to slap her and then later in the match, Abercrombie hit an Asai moonsault from the apron to the floor, and then slapped the female fan. Hero hulked up, however, decking Abercrombie and then sliding into the ring, hitting a gigantic suicide dive to the outside that sent them into the very back row of the seats to a ROAR from the crowd. Hero finally locked on the Hangman's Clutch as Abercrombie tapped. Arik Cannon rushed the ring directly after the match, attacking Cannon as the heel section once again roared. Hero and Cannon talked shit back and forth, as Hero promised that Cannon's time was running out, despite them having already faced each other 50 times. Eddie Kingston d. Ian Rotten in a crazy Texas Death Match that saw both men go all over the Armory. Highlights included Ian bleeding 30 seconds into the match, Rotten dropping ringsteps onto Kingston's leg, "protected" by two steel chairs on that leg, Kingston cutting an electric promo before the match telling Ian to "test his gangsta". Referee Chris Skoville repeatedly asked Eddie if he would quit, and eventually caught an errant right hand from Eddie as he was pushed into another row of chairs. While out, Ian made Eddie tap but with the ref out nothing was possible. With blood pouring down his face, Jim Fannin left his announcing position, spraying "ether" into a rag and knocking Ian out with it, putting Kingston on Ian, getting the three count and then the ten count to end the match. After the match, Fannin proclaimed that WHEN he won WarGames, he would make sure that Tyler Black didn't get to face A.J. Styles, hell, he might even cancel the entire Ted Petty Invitational. After Rotten awoke from his haze, he said that he heard the last part of Fannin's speech, and promised to get together with the NWA Midwest President Ed Schuman--who will also be fielding a team in the WarGames match--to guarantee Tyler Black's spot in the TPI.
