TRIPLE H COMMENTS ON THE FLIGHT FROM EUROPE, HOGAN, AND MORE

Here is a recap of Triple H's appearance on Byte This yesterday. The full program can be heard on WWE.com.  The interview was the usual mix of shoot and kayfabe, which comes off as ridiculous. They need to go one way or the other with the show.

- Triple H talked about how being in a Hell in a Cell match changes your career. He talked about how brutal and violent it is and said it has ended careers.

- There will be butterflies when he goes into the match with Jericho and talked about surviving the match, as opposed to winning.

- Discussion of the feud with Y2J in various incarnations. Triple H sees this has being the "big blowoff" for their feud. He feels this match goes beyond the WWF title, but is a personal issue between the two.

- Triple H talked about losing the title to Hulk Hogan, who he referred to as being the "Babe Ruth" of wrestling. He talked about it being an honor to wrestle Hogan, but he was looking to beat him because it is no longer Hogan's era, it was his time now. He felt the outcome would be different if the Undertaker was not involved. Felt it proves that anyone can be beaten.

- His "go and win some titles" comment to Edge was not meant as disrespect, but now is not the time to mess with him. He said that he is trying to end Chris Jericho's career right now, and if Edge wants to get in his face, he will end his career as well.

- Triple H talked about his attack on the Undertaker, and how it was fueled by emotion of having his long comeback and title victory all stopped a month after winning the title by the Undertaker.  Said he still has unfinished business with him.

- His quadriceps is feeling fine. He had some problems with a fractured kneecap prior to Wrestlemania, his knee was swollen. After mania it was hurting and an MRI and X-Ray showed he had a split kneecap.  He has kept going and feels 100% now. This Tuesday is the one year anniversary of the quad tear.

- Is flattered that he is looked at as a locker room leader, but doesn't try to lead. He just goes about his business. He feels you work harder on when you are on top, because you are the example others look at.

- Concerning the flight back from Europe, Triple H doesn't think people were fired as much as they were let go so they could "find their pants." He said it was a long flight following a successful tour, and alcohol was flowing. Everyone had a great time, but it teetered over the edge and became "too good" of a time for some of them (Triple H was chuckling throughout this). He said people lost their jobs, but the business moves on.

- His favorite Hell in the Cell match is Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker.

- He thinks about reinjuring his leg, but he doesn't worry about it during a match.

- Triple H said he hasn't changed his style to become a heel or babyface. His style always stays the same.

- Triple H thinks the talent on the Raw brand has had a hard time organizing itself because of the NWO being a big part of it. Scott Hall fired, Nash having a torn bicep, Big Show and Booker T being brought in has changed everything about the group that people recognized.

- Long discussion of Ric Flair getting used to being in charge of the Raw brand.

- He thought Flair putting himself in a title match with Hogan was a mistake. Praised Flair as the greatest ever, but he and Hogan are over 50, and people want to see the young studs. He thought the match was great, but it needed to be done at the right time, in the right place, and with the right buildup, not a cold match being thrown on a show.

- Triple H praised Randy Orton, and talked about the pressure he is under as a third generation wrestler.

- Talked about D-Von working with the Deacon, and how if having a new partner doesn't work, you move on. He talked about Mr. Hughes being paired with him, how it didn't work, and moved on.

- Triple H has not seen much of Tough Enough 2. He has a little heat with the show, since the one episode he saw a portion of was Maven and Nidia (who he couldn't remember) giving their "words of wisdom" to the trainees when they haven't been in the business for even a year.

- Bodybuilding is a passion for him. He constantly sets new goals for his physique. He hopes to have a training video out in the fall.

- While joking with Tom Pritchard about road stories and trying to "find your pants", Triple H said "You could look for Michael Hayes' ponytail".

- Triple H praised Brock Lesnar and feels Edge and Test are on the verge of breaking huge.

- They'll probably always be the "WWF" in the minds of the fans despite the name change, since the product is the same.

- Compared being in DX to being in a band that was successful. You want to move on, because there is not much more you can do once you have hit the top with a group. It was one of his favorite times in wrestling.

He seems pretty lax about it considering they all could have died. Whatever.

Most of the interview was in character, but the most interesting part was where he basically made fun of the fact that Michael Hayes' ponytail was cut off.  Bet he wouldn't be laughing if that happened to him in '96.  And I guess X-Pac is going to get off unscathed for it.

And if HHH's quad is feeling fine, why is he still moving so slow?

I can't see why he would have a problem with this. Maven and Nidia were in the same situation the new students were in just a few months ago. They'll be able to relate more to them than they would to an HHH or a Jericho.

I could see any established wrestler being a little upset by Nidia and Maven trying to show others what they learned in the ring.  The thought of "Who in the hell are you?" would cross my mind.  I would not mind them talking about what the experience is like or the conditions that they are going to go into should they win, but when it comes to actual in-ring training they aren't exactly high on the list of people who should be talking.

Triple H sees this has being the "big

                         blowoff" for their feud.

OK I guess it is safe to assume there is no way Jericho is winning if this is the prevailing attitude toward the match.

I gotta agree with Hunter on Maven and Nidia.  They both suck, no matter how much Snow likes them, they're still green.

Hey, if HHH has so much power, maybe he can get the TE series cancelled.

I can see what HHH is saying about them not having enough experience, but I think Maven and Nidia were sent there as more of a motivational tool. Like I said before, they TE students can easier relate to Maven and Nidia because they were in the same situation just last year. And as far as them helping out with moves...as long as they know what they're doing it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm guessing Anglesault hasn't read this thread yet...

Did we all forget that Tough Enough is just a tv show?

Of course the last years winners are going to have to show up...they would be stupid not to have them do it.

And the shows producers decide who's coming.

This HAD to be in character...because Flair isn;t a booker...and Paul doesn't give to shits about any of the "young studs".

If surviving HITC is more important than winning, then there should be no problem with him putting Jericho over. Right?

It's hard to tell if his comment about it being a personal issue between him and Jericho is a work or a shoot. Probably both.

Oh good...Taker/Triple H will resume their feud shortly. I know I was so disappointed when they kept cutting that feud off.

Have any of the other wrestlers ever called Triple H a locker room leader in an interview that did not take place on wwf.com? I know the Torch is always calling him one and that J.R. kisses his ass a lot. And I don't doubt that other wrestlers listen when he talks or do their best to kiss his ass. But I have a feeling if a lot of WWF wrestlers were asked off the record their thoughts on Triple, I don't think "locker room leader" would be the first thing to come to mind.

I didn't listen to the show. But the recap on the Observer site went into details about his comments on RAW/Flair. It seemed like he was either taking shots at Austin or the writing team because he was complaining about how Austin won the handicap match and able to escape against all of Flair's guys.

I have to laugh at the Test comment. Triple H always mentions Test as a guy about to break through. Yet, last time I checked Test was wrestling Mark Henry on Jakked matches.
