Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 It's pretty obvious by the amount of posts already how many people liked Davey Boy. I just got home and couldn't believe it when I saw the headlines. The Bulldogs and Hart Foundation were the 1st tag teams I remember watching, so they'll always be rather special to me. A lot of guys from that time have died over the years, a tragic shame. Like a few others have already said, I'm gonna go watch Bulldog-Bret from Summerslam '92. Davey Boy, R.I.P ------------------------------------
Guest papacita Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Reading all of your memories of the Bulldog brings a tear to me eye. I was never a die-hard Bulldog fan, seeing as how HBK was my favorite wrestler, but I have a lot of good memories of him from when I was little. I know I've said a few times that I was a big WCW mark back in 93-94, and the main reason I even began watching it in the first place was because Bulldog was there. I remember the first WCW PPV I ever ordered was Beach Blast 93 just to see Bulldog and Sting take on the Masters of the Powerbomb (Sid and Vader). It was amazing seeing him give Vader the stalling verticle suplex. When he returned to the WWF in 94, I was an even bigger fan of his. When he teamed with Lex Luger as the Allied Powers, they were my favorite team in the WWF. I'll never forget In Your House 2 when they faced Yoko and Owen for the titles. I was positive they were gonna win the match, and was just pissed off when Owen came off the top rope behind the referee's back and they lost the match. I've booed referee Mike Chioda every at every WWF show since then because of that one match. If I had to pick one Bulldog moment as my favorite, I would say it was at Mind Games in 96 when he and Owen won the Tag Belts from the Smokin Gunns. I remember it so well, because my friend and I would always complain about never getting to see a title change hands in Philly, and even though Bulldog and Owen were with Camp Cornette at the time, we cheered them throughout the match and just went crazy when they won. I have a picture in my scrapbook of Owen, Bulldog and Clarence Mason all standing on the floor with the belts. I can't even put into words how happy I was that night. It's just a shame to see that both of them are gone. Once again, RIP.
Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Fuckin' God Damnit!!!! Every damn time I turn this PC on it seems a wrestler dies!!!! I'm not gonna kiss his ass just because he died, because he wasn't one of my all time favorites. However, he was one of the guys from the 80's (when I first started watching WWF wrestling 86' BRITISH BULLDOGS!) that has my RESPECT, beyond a shadow of a doubt. Davey Boy Vs Bret Hart; Summerslam 92' is one of my favorite matches of all time. Damn, it's scary to think 3 out of 5 of the Hart Foundation of 97' are dead. ALL at a young age. This is Bull Shit! R.I.P. Davey
Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Oh well. He was cool years ago, but the man ruined his life. I really can't feel sorry for him.

Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 19, 2002 He didn't even care to show respect to his own body his last few years. Kind of lame to flame someone in a thread like this.
Guest Luke Michael Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Damn! Why is their a death sentence on wrestler's lives when they are so young?? I really thought Davey Boy Smith could have been the WWF Champ during this last two runs. (Except for the end of the last one.)
Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 He didn't even care to show respect to his own body his last few years. Kind of lame to flame someone in a thread like this. No one really gives a damn about you! It's more lame to disrespect the recently deceits wrestler whom this tread is dedicated to. i.e You!
Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Well, you're upset with me and have already replied twice, so obviously someone gives a damn about me(you). I didn't disrespect him. Just saying the truth.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted May 19, 2002 As the biggest Bulldog mark of the forum I'd thought list some great DBS matches that people should check out- WM2 Bulldogs v. Dream Team Bulldog wins first ever WWF tag title WM3 Bulldogs/Chico v. Harts/Danny Davis Sure the Bulldogs job but seeing Danny just get killed is true joy. Summerslam 88- Rougeaus v. Bulldogs Really good match here- last time Bulldogs teamed together on PPV. (Save for SurS88) Royal Rumble 92- Bulldog and Flair do some great stuff. Poor Bulldog's balls. Summerslam 92- No explanation necessary. Superbrawl 3- Bulldog v. Bill Irwin DBS debuts in WCW. I haven't seen the wcw shows he main evented so skip to- Halloween Havoc 93- Bulldog v. Regal My two gods face off. Slamfest 95 and Wam Bam Bodyslam feature a Bret/DBS v. Anvil/Owen match that kicks major ass. Slamfest is clipped. I'd recommend RR95 but I cant watch it without crying In Your House 5- Bulldog v. Bret Bret bleeds a gusher and these two wrestle an awesome match. Wrestlefest 96 (Beware of Dog), KOTR96- Bulldog v. HBK Bulldog and HBK had a hot feud about Diana and had two great matches to boot. Bulldog got screwed at BOD. Survivor Series 96- Bulldog, Owen, Rockers v. Godwinns, Furnas and LaFon Pretty bitching tag match. Canadian Stampede- Canada v. USA Hard to watch now but still a CLASSIC match. Badd BLood 97 Bret/DBS v. Vader/Patriot A fun match that also includes DBS beating up a fan. Unforgiven 99- HHH v. Show v. Kane v. Rock v. Bulldog v. Foley A great match overall- last show DBS ever main evented. and finally- Sunday Night Heat ? 2000- Bulldog v. Eddy His last televised WWF match. RIP Davey. Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Well, I'm not gonna "E-Fight" with someone who probably has only been watching "Wrestling" since 98 at the earliest. Once again, RIP Davey.

Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Well, I'm not gonna "E-Fight" with someone who probably has only been watching "Wrestling" since 98 at the earliest. Ohhh. Burn. You're so kewl and hardkore. pal when you say something that dissrespectful you deserve to be flamed. "That dissrepsectful"? What in the world? I said the man used to be good but he let himself go to waste. Nobody can sit here and tell me that isn't the truth. If you still are upset then that's fine, but I was not. Big deal. If I made fun of him and drove away with his casket like Bossman you two would be right, but come on, what I said was tame.
Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Simple fact of the way Bulldog the man behaved outside of the ring can't be denied no matter how much you want to try. It's simply the truth. To deny that would be to deny that Davey Boy Smith ever exhisted, and I don't think anyone here wants to do that. However, I believe that the way that Davey hurt himself and others just makes his life all the more tragic, and I hope all those close to him can find the strength to make it through this undoubtedly dificult time. Death, especially one so untimely, is hard to face. Again, it's good to try to remember the good things about a person when they die, but to deny that person's faults is deny his very exhistance. I mourn for the good, the bad, the unforgetable - Davey Boy Smith, wherever he may be.
Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Man, this is the most shocking wrestling related news I've heard since Owen's death. Oddly enough, I was just talking about Bulldog today. It's sad that he left wrestling with such little fanfare.
Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 I'm not denying reality. I know the man had problems that obviously led to his downfall... I just think right now isn't the proper time to bring that up to make the pain worse. It just kind of sounded a little heartless to say something like "it's sad that hes dead... but he brought it on himself and I don't feel sorry for him one bit" It just probably would have been more tasteful to just leave a simple RIP But hey, that's just my opinion. Either way, I don't want to debate this any further because I don't feel this thread was even created for that purpose.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Not much I can say here... just, RIP Davey... you will be missed.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Davy Boy definately wasn't an angel, and denying the fact that he was indeed on a downward spiral and certainly wasn't that good of a guy would be denying the man himself (like Riki said). But my body did go a bit numb for about 5 minutes when I read it on the DVD board when I got home. As a kid of about 10 or so in the early 90's Davy Boy was definately a top 5 fave of mine. He was big, quick, and had funky hair.
Guest gthureson Report post Posted May 19, 2002 You don't all of a sudden earn respect just because you're dead. You earn it while you're alive. Davey was a good wrestler, and was probably a good man at times. Other times, well....he wasn't. But dying doesn't wipe anything you don't want to remember about him. Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Well, there is a time and place for everything. This isn't the time to badmouth Bulldog. I know his personal life went to hell the past few years. I just hope that Keith doesn't run his mouth in a negative way about him in the same fashion he used with guys like Yokozuna. It's strange, but even though Yoko won the world title a couple times I don't consider him in the same league as Bulldog. This is strange but someone said his last WWF match was against Eddie on Heat in May 2000. That was the Heat right before Judgment Day. I was at that PPV. The Bulldog/Eddie match was taped and shown on the Titantron. So at least I was there (sort of) for the airing of his last WWF match.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted May 19, 2002 What can I say? I go online, and then all of a sudden I see a post saying Bulldog's dead. A guy you grew up watching dies feels very very weird.

Guest WWF4Life Report post Posted May 19, 2002 "World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. is saddened to report the loss of former WWE Superstar Davey Boy Smith. As the British Bulldog, Smith had a stellar career, becoming an Intercontinental, Tag Team, European and Hardcore Champion. Our thoughts, condolences and prayers go out to the family and friends of "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith." That's on WWE.com At least they've acknowledged it. Maybe J.R. will say something tonight on the PPV. RIP Bulldog.
Guest Ash Ketchum Report post Posted May 19, 2002 God damn... this is sad to hear. Bulldog has always had a part of my enjoyment of sports entertainment. Hell, I liked him so much, that my e-wrestling character's even his second cousin. Even though he had his problems as of late, Bulldog was a great man and an even greater wrestler. I probably wouldn't be here right now if it hadn't been for him. R.I.P., Davey. You will be missed. ~Ash~
Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Okay, I'm gonna have to agree with most. Sure, he had a lot of problems during the end of his life, but that's sad. That's not a reason to turn away from someone. I'm sorry, but death-in my opinion-is never something to be looked at lightly. Even if you didn't like the person who died, think of the others around him who do care. He had children. Do you think they hated him because he used drugs? Somehow, I doubt it. And if you disagree, then that's your opinion but don't post in this thread. Personally, this is very upsetting. I can't even put it to words. I'll just leave it as an RIP for the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith. You will be missed.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted May 19, 2002 I was pretty shocked when I read this as well, just like everyone else. Someone said that the Hart Foundation was cursed, I think the entire Hart family is cursed as well. When was the last time those people got any good news? RIP Bulldog. Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted May 19, 2002 I just watched Summerslam '97, at the end there's a victory shot of Pillman, Owen, Bulldog, and Bret. I can't believe 3 of them are gone.
Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 I actually had a tear in my eye when I read it. That is just too damn sad. 39 years old and he dies. He was a great wrestler, I will never forget for what he has done for the business. I just dont have the words to describe how bad I feel for the Hart famiily. RIP Davey. You will be missed buddy. Guest Report post Posted May 19, 2002 This is very sad, I always respected the Bulldog's great strength, and wrestling capabilities, though I cheered against him for at least a decade until he joined the foundation. I too am mad his "last run" couldnt have been better, but Davey had already accomplished so much, that everyone will still recognize his accomplishments. And if you didnt know the Bulldog personally then you have no right, especially at a time like this, to make comments on the type of person he was, and you dont know what made the man deteriorate, so dont assume his addictions were in his control, some people just cant help it.
