Guest Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 I was watching the Raw match and it looked like both guys were having a great tiem in there. Even with all the times WCW and Hogan made Flair his bitch I never heard about them saying anything bad about each other. I was just curious.....Are they friends or at leasst on freindly temrs in real life?
Guest J*ingus Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 I know a guy who was around them some in WCW in the mid-90's, and he said that Hogan, Flair, Piper, and Savage all respected each other to an extent, but none of them really trusted or liked the others.
Guest Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 Yeah I'd say there's just a lot of respect between the two. I mean they both have achieved a lot for their respective companies in the past.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 In a WWF Magazine (or RAW) article, it ay's Ric Flair & Hulk Hogan have great respect for each other, on the contrary of what most rumors are.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 they have to have a respect for each other but i believe that there could be some envy between the two. flair was a way better wrestler but hogan got the worldwide fame. flair on the otherhand is respected all around the world while hogan isnt.

Their information is totally worked...
Guest the 1inch punch Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 its more of a respect thing, like back in 1994 Flair put Hogan over for the good of the company, but in 1997 they were in opposite camps in the Nash/Sullvan behind the scenes war, which Nash won and celebrated by killing the company.
Guest Tony149 Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 Like you guys have said, they respect each other. I don't think you'll see them having dinner with each other, but the respect is there. I agree with Mark4Steamboat. Both men probably have their dis-likes on the other. Hogan because pretty much everybody, including Flair's foes, respect him for being an all around great wrestler. Flair because once Hogan came into his "house" (WCW) in 1994, he started getting treated like shit.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted May 19, 2002 Report Posted May 19, 2002 If you sum it up, their not PARTICULARLY good friends thats a gurantee, but I doubt if they hate each other, they would have worked together all those times since 1991.
Guest dreamer420 Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 Flair obviously doesn't have a problem doing the job for Hogan. I've seen him do it too many times.
Guest J*ingus Posted May 21, 2002 Report Posted May 21, 2002 But who has Flair EVER refused to lay down for? Throughout the 90's, he was the world's most glorified jobber.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Stunning Steve Austin was not elevatd cause of Flair. So I guess he's one answer.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted May 22, 2002 Report Posted May 22, 2002 Huh? Didn't Flair push to work with Austin after he won the US title? It was Hogan who had him job to Duggan, not Flair. Luger. There's your answer.
Guest Posted May 24, 2002 Report Posted May 24, 2002 Flair refused to put Lex Luger over which is what led to him getting fired from WCW in 91 and going to WWF with the World Title with him. Flair actually was planning on putting Steve Austin over and was trying to convince the bookers about letting him do it. The creative team obviously didn't agree. And if you've seen any of the Flair/Austin matches that they put on, Flair indeed did put Austin over. You don't have to lay down for the guy to put him over, in case any of you didn't know that. And in the current WWE tribute magazine to Hogan (Hulkamania) when asked of his thoughts on Ric Flair he says "greatest wrestler EVER" which is quite the compliment. I have no doubt in my mind that that comment was legitimate, because all of the comments he made about wrestlers there seemed sincere... including a nice little shoot remark on Sid
Guest nWoScorpion Posted May 24, 2002 Report Posted May 24, 2002 My bad, it was Luger he woudn't put over (like he didn't when Luger was face in 1988 or 1989)
Guest Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 Flair had his reasons for not wanting to put Luger over. I think he just didn't feel Luger was ready and was afraid he was a simple "flash in the pan" (which he was.) This isn't uncommon in wrestling... hell, Lou Thesz was infamous for not wanting to put certain people he felt weren't in his league over. At that particular time, I guess I can't blame him
Guest nWoScorpion Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 Every main eventer held someone down when peoplewere more PROTECTIVE of their terrirtory. Only person I have doubts of is Sting, cause he seemed like he loved the businiess too much to care.
Guest J*ingus Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 It wasn't Flair vs. Luger in that backstage war though, it was Flair vs. Dusty. The Dream wanted Flair gone from the main events, and pushed for months to have the belt put on his golden boy Luger, only to have Flair stymie him at every point.
Guest Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 Yeah that's true. I just wanted to mention that Flair indeed did not want to put Luger over, even though, like you said, the real war existed between Dusty and Flair
Guest nWoScorpion Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 how bout the siblings of Dusty & Watts? Damn, pushed down our throats when they sucked. Eric Watts continued to suck.
