Action star Vin Diesel has become the latest actor to join Hollywood's exclusive $20 million club. The actor, who earned just $2 million for The Fast And The Furious in 2000, has signed up for the sequel of yet-to-be-released blockbuster XXX for a whopping $20 million, according to Hollywood trade paper Daily Variety. Diesel has turned down the chance to star in the sequel to The Fast And The Furious. Soul star Tyrese is in negotiations to take a lead part in the film, alongside Paul Walker.

Holy SHIT!!! He had one hit movie and one that will probably be a hit but that hasn't even come out yet.....and he gets 20 million???? They are just throwing there money away.

 

And how many other actors get that much for a movie anyway? I can only think of Harrison Ford And Julia Roberts.

Vin Diesel isn't really a bad actor either. He was great in Iron Giant but the problem is that not many people have seen it.

 

I'd like to see him in some movies that call for acting, but he's a natural action star so oh well. In fact he's the thing that made me originally want to see Pitch Black and Fast and the Furious and he's also the main reason why i want to see XXX.

 

While i do like him i also don't think he's worth 20 mill YET. But you want to know why he's getting that much. It's rather simple in that he has a look and an insane amount of charisma that will make him huge before long. Therefore all the studios want him and are throwing money around in hopes that they will be the lucky studio that gets to sign him to a multi picture deal.

20 million?  nah not yet...Fast And The Furious was shit, Pitch Black kicked major ass, he was good in Boiler Room though it wasn't the main role, he didn't last long in Saving Private Ryan and XXX looks like it'll be DECENT at best...he's not ready for that much cash...he is a cool dude though and dammit what race is he???

I like Vin Diesel, though I don't think he's established himself as a $20 million man yet.  However, the current crop of hollywood action stars under 50 is incredibly thin, so the studios' move here is sort of understandable.  If he keeps starring in the typical summer blockbuster movies, they'll continue to do well and he'll justify his salary soon enough.

 

BTW, as much as I dislike the casting of Affleck as Daredevil, I think Diesel would have been worse.  He has the completely wrong look for the part, compunded by the fact that he's too big.

On a semi-related note, why is it that so many rappers, hip-hop artists, and soul singers think they can act?  There are a few good ones (Ice T and, to a lesser extent, Ice Cube come to mind), but most of them range from mediocre (Aaliyah) to unwatchable (Mariah).  Stick to the singing and leave the acting to the actors.

For quality ratings, I turn to our friend imdb.com.  On there, Three Kings has been rated at 7.5 out of 10, by a total of 16,943 people voting.  Boyz N The Hood scored a similar rating, 7.7, but from only 5447 people.  New Jack City came in with a much lower 6.1 from a mere 1627 voters.  Overall, I'd say a lot more people saw Three Kings, and more liked it than one of the two movies you named.

Um...why are you using Boyz in the Hood and New Jack City in comparison with Three Kings? They are totally different movies.

 

Calling New Jack City groundbreaking is inaccurate since it didn't do anything that Scarface hadn't done 15 years earlier. Boyz in the Hood also wasn't the first dramatic movie about street gangs. Colors and Bad Boys with Sean Penn are the first movies that comes to mind as being before Boys in the hood but there may be others.

 

So i suppose this groundbreaking argument is over.

okay hold on a sec:  Colors was about LA Cops dealing with street gangs...Bad Boys was about a bunch of punks in a youth prison...Boyz N The Hood wasn't about either one of those issues so I guess I don't see your comparisons there...Boyz N The Hood was about teens struggling to survive in the rough LA streets...there may be a similarity or two, but the overall aspects were different, so yes Boyz N The Hood was groundbreaking, no one tackled the genre as hard as that movie did up to that point...

dude, tresspass was a hit first of all, secondly YES ICE-T WAS IN NEW YOUR UNDERCOVER.  I ahve seebn every episode, he killed malik yoda's wife don;t you remember.  I will bet all my worldy possesions he was on that show for quite a few episodes.  Ice cube sucks, his movies aren't funny or good, and the humor is way to cheezy and only pot heads like the jokes.  Also btw, I stated the fast and furious fuckin blew, because of vin diesel but ja rule takes some credit, as well as the other guy who I will remain nameless cause he sucks.

Well actually Vin was the only main guy in Fast and the Furious that showed any ability. Paul Walker was the horrible actor who was so bad that i think he actually dragged down anyone else in his scenes. Not to mention that Paul Walker was doing his best impersonation of Keanu Reeves. Hell Ja Rule acting as himself was a better actor for his 1 minute of screen then Paul Walker was and he's one of the main stars.

 

But the problem was that with the very weak dialoge it would be hard for even a great actor to look good. So when you consider the material he had to work with Vin wasn't that bad. Imagine Paul Walker saying Vin's lines and you'll see that Vin showed acting ability where as Paul Walker has NONE AT ALL.

 

Then agane who really cares it was a movie about car races and car chases the plot or acting wasn't important. It was a fun movie and that's all that really matters on that type of movie.
