How can I take something off of a DVD and convert it to an mpg or wmv?

A rar file is not something you play. It's a compression type like a zip file. Use WinRAR to extract the file(s) and use them normally.

I have used gordian knot for ripping. and when it converts to an AVI it goes faster than the normal video speed, and i don't know how to use the chapter extractor.
