I went by my local Babbages today and the PS2 and X-Box were each 199.99! I thought this price drop was coming in like August. I didn't realize that it would happen so soon.

Well now I can get an X-Box....and have all 3 systems!

from what I understand, a good friend of mine is a manager of Electronics Boutique (aka Babbages aka Software Etc.) at one of our malls and he says the GameCube is dropping down to 130 within the next few weeks AND Sony is alreayd talking about bringing out Playstation 3 by christmas 2003....what the fuck, enough with the upgrades, we ain't all rich Sony!

Yeah I sure hope they don't do that. I'd be pretty pissed. I mean they haven't even gone online with the PS2 yet!

What's with all these consoles needing sequels?

Sony should just make a new gaming system instead.

Instead of PS3, how about some more games?

Why would anyone need a PS2, GameCube and an X-Box? Is your life that pathetic that you need all that to keep yourself entertained? Go outside or something.

Well, THAT was a mature thing to say...

No actually I have a job and many friends who I hang out with. But I am also a video game fantatic. And when I'm not with my friends or at work I play video games. Is your life so pathetic that you need to critisize the way other people have fun?

You'll be working until you're 90 if you keep wasting money on multiple video games and systems. There's a fun life.

I won't be working till I'm 90 because first of all I still live with my parents(i'm 17) and second of all the only bills I have to pay as of now is for my car. And i make enough money for both.

Actually it is a fun life, and who says you have to work till your 90? No one is gonna force me to live that long. All hail console games!

Hobbies are meant to be expensive - that's what capitalism is all about.

And just think - if your hobby is marijuana or some other illegal drug, you may not even live to be 90.

It's possible to have all three systems and I don't think it's unreasonable to want all three if you can get them. There are games that are exclusive to each system or better on one system that you really wantto play. If you had Gamecube, you might want to buy the PS2 so that you could play GTA 3. If you want to play Resident Evil, you have to have a Gamecube. One of my roommates wants Resident Evil, so he might buy a Gamecube (he works at Best Buy) to go along with his PS2.

Yeah, and you might want to buy the X-Box so that you could play... uh...

Yeah, or you could spend time with friends, travelling, going outside, cycling, hiking, partying.. stuff like that. I mean, there is nothing wrong with playing video games, but wasting all your time and money on it is just sad.

you could spend time with friends,

Personal interaction, ewwww.

travelling,

That costs more than video games.  Takes more time, too.

going outside,

I might, if I didn't hate bugs and inclement weather.

cycling,

Lousy balance.  Never could ride a bike, probably never will.

hiking,

This would involve that whole "going outside" thing.

partying

Can also cost more than video games, especially if it's your house.  Also requires that whole "personal interaction" thing.
