For me, it's gotta be Viggo Morgensen (sp?) playing Lucifer in the Prophecy 'Little Tommy Daggat. Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Jack Nicholson, Ian Holm, Vincent Price, Claude Rains, Max Von Sydow, George C. Scott, Terence Stamp, Billy Crystal, Gabriel Byrne, Harvey Keitel, Lon Chaney Jr, Jon Ritter, Donald Pleasance, George Burns, Christopher Lee... the list just never ends. Even Liz Hurley and Jennifer Love Hewitt have taken shots at it. Why is this one character so popular to play, but is so rarely played well enough to scare or disturb someone? Guest Report post Posted May 21, 2002 The best 'Devil' would arguably have to be Peter Cook in Beloved- He plays it with the right amount of nasty wit - as well as the name 'George Spiggot', and is good enough to make him a suitably sympathetic character. Liz Hurley was definately the best looking of the bunch - though alas hampered by having the acting abilities of a small jar of treacle, and being in a rather duff film. If they really did a "correct" characterization of the Devil, it would scare and/or disturb too many people and bring out all the protestors.
