It seems despite how much our culture advances, there are still some things that retailers feel they must keep away from the public, apparently for fear of our society collapsing because of images in one film.

Unearthed Films has worked for years to put together a definitive edition of Nacho Cerda’s amazing and disturbing short film, Aftermath, and we’ve mentioned it more than once here on DC (there's also a cover story done on it in the latest Rue Morgue). The promised DVD will feature Aftermath, the movie made before it called The Awakening, the final entry in the "Trilogy of Death", Genesis, and lots of good stuff, but because the film is an almost clinical look at necrophilia, not a single U.S. retailer will touch it.

Most retailers made the decision to not carry the movie based on screening views of the film and its IMDB listing, so for now Unearthed will make the DVD available online only. It’s worth getting as long as you are able to come to grips with what the film is about and don’t get offended too easily. In the end it’s a beautifully made movie, and I really think all horror fans should give it a chance, especially now that it’s still being banned in some capactiy, 11 years after it was made.

So, what is "Aftermath" about? Well, it's a 30 minute short about an Autopsy...that turns into an act of Necrophillia that makes "Nekromantik" look weak.

Oh, you can get it from Amazon too, though it comes out in August.

Frighteningly enough, I actually knew about this movie long before reading that article.

But seriously - why would anybody want to watch that? To each his own, I suppose.

Well, I guess as an endurence test. Stuff like this is the kind of thing that could disgust even the most jaded lemonparty.com and eel girl viewer. It's kind of like splatterpunk stories, only without the outrageous humor and over the top nature.
