Need some books to read

Recommended Posts

Hey I am off this summer and wanting to read some good books. Right now I am reading The Inferno by Dante. What are some other good books do you recommend? I am open to any genre. Thanks.

The best novels I ever read were "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving and "The Catcher in the Rye" by JD Salinger.

I aslo recently read "A Hope in the Unseen" by Ron Suskind, which is a true story.

What is "A Hope in the Unseen" about?

It follows an inner city kid as he tries to get into an Ivy League school, then through his freshman year. Kind of shows all the odds that are against him, and how hard it is for him to fit in.

Right now I'm reading Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas by Nicholas Pileggi, the book the movie Casino was based on. I've been reading a bunch of Tom Clancy novels lately, and I needed a break. I'm about halfway through, and it's pretty good.

I just finished an awesome book "A Game of Thrones" by George R. R. Martin, probably one of the best, and freshest "fantasy" novels i've ever read. It's more king arthur-ish or shakespeare-ish than lotr-ish though.

I'm a big fan of John Steinbeck. Cannery Row, The Pearl, Tortilla Flat, and Of Mice And Men are all good choices. Also the original Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is really good. The symbolism is pretty deep.
