Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Read this in a few other message boards Next year's storyline is going to basically be "Villains United" animation style. With villains joining forces(aka Legion of Doom) to counteract the JLU. The Legion of Superheroes will appear in an episode There will be a Seven Soldiers of Victory episode. Stargirl, Deadman and Warlord will be spotlighted. The writers planned to use The Outsiders for next year's finale but that changed when they decided to do the Legion of Doom arc. Some Outsiders members will be appearing in separate episodes instead. And a guy by the name of Carter Hall will involve himself in the ongoing Hakgirl/GL/Vixen love story. Plus there will be a direct to video Superman:TAS movie written by one of the "The Batman" writers but the movie will be animated in the TAS style

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 If you are talking the animated DCU, you have to give serious props to Bruce Timm. Anyone pickup Superman TAS vol 1? Highly impressive stuff on there.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2005 Just saw the final episode for last season and it was top-notch stuff. I'm happy that Flash finally got to be major hero in this final episode, and in fact, the whole Season has been awesome. Can't wait for Season 3.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2005 There will be a Seven Soldiers of Victory episode. Stargirl, Deadman and Warlord will be spotlighted. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Warlord? Seven Soldiers of Victory? What are they just randomly thumbing through the DC Encyclopedia for ideas? Sheesh.

What are they just randomly thumbing through the DC Encyclopedia for ideas? Sheesh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope. They've been doing this kind of stuff since before that book even came out. The people involved know their DCU history. Anyway, I loved the season finale. The Brainiac-Luthor team was a nice tribute to both Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? and the classic green-skinned Brainiac. Plus, the skull-ship is perhaps the coolest spaceship EVER. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2005 That wasn't the season finale, kids. That would be "Epilogue" and I have no idea when it airs in the US but it aired a few weeks back in Canada and was quite awesome.

It must have slipped my mind. Isn't "Epilogue" the episode that involves "the final fate of Batman"?

Sorry, I really thought it was. Is "Epilogue" the one with Batman from the future? It was good, but I would have preferred the previously mentioned episodes as season closers. They had more of an epic feel to them.
dubq 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2005 'Epilogue' has to do with wrapping up the Batman Beyond storyline, and it was awesome.

Seriously, HOW MANY episodes have Vigilante and Shining Knight been in? Heaven forbid they should actually use characters that were really League members in the comics, and that most fans have actually heard of.

The hardcore fans care--trust me on that. And I personally don't care that some of the members aren't "mainstream" enough. With lesser known characters you can explore what makes them tick in a way that the audience hasn't experienced before. The Question is a very good example of this. Before JLU, a lot of fans didn't know much about him. Now he's one of their favorite characters on the show. In essence, I don't consider them to be "throwaway" characters just because people don't know about them. All it takes to bring out a character's hidden depth is the right writer. Like a Grant Morrison or a Geoff Johns.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2005 (edited) The Question has at least appeared in various forms since the 1960s, and was the basis for the Rorschach character in "The Watchmen". He's had multiple series of his own, and has been published by 2 different companies. I rate him a lot higher than The Seven Soldiers of Victory. The Seven Soldiers of Victory were a group of characters from the 1940s that never really caught on with the public. They're hardly worth screentime that could be better served with more well-known characters (some of whom actually have ongoing books that might benefit from the publicity of a TV episode) like the Blue Beetle, Firestorm, the Doom Patrol, the Justice Society (although a few JSA members have had small parts in episodes), Nightwing, Batgirl, or Animal Man. edit: I just found out that Blue Beetle can't appear for legal reasons, and Nightwing and Batgirl are reserved for future Batman projects (although Batman himself can appear????). I'd still like to see Firestorm, the Doom Patrol, and some more of the JSA members. Edited July 22, 2005 by Y2Jerk

One could even argue (quite successfully) that Rorschach is more well-known than the character he was based on. Before JLU, the general populace (read: the casual fans) didn't know much, if anything, about him. The point is, whether a character is a "throwaway" or not is purely subjective. And just because they aren't well-known does not make them any less interesting as characters. As for the Seven Soldiers, I've heard really good things about Morrison's work on them. That just furthers the point about each character (or characters) needing the right writer. With that group being revamped by Morrison, it doesn't make sense NOT to use them in episodes.
