Worst Picture: Freddy Got Fingered Worst Actor: Tom Green Worst Actress: Mariah Carey Worst Screen Couple: Ben Affleck & Kate Beckinsale or Josh Hartnett Worst Supporting Actor: Sylvester Stallone Worst Supporting Actress: Courtney Cox Worst Remake or Sequel: Pearl Harbor Worst Director: Vondie Curtis Hall Worst Screenplay: Freddy Got Fingered
Guest J*ingus Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 Hey, I like Penelope Cruz! But the rest of the awards deserve it, even though they did seem like they limited themselves to nominating people from the same five movies.
Guest the Goon Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 Freddy Got Fingered was SUPPOSED to be a bad film. But Americans dont understand irony, so everyone gets offended by it, and doesnt get it... its like on the Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD, as they comment about how by the time Meaning of Life came out, noone wanted to be fucked with, shocked or made to think anymore. noone wanted to look at anything for more than face value. and this is how a genius film like FGF ends up on the razzies. notice how they kept altering the awards and embelishing peoples roles (Drew Barrymore was in FGF for about one minute) just to spew more venom...
Guest Dark Lotus Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 Here's my picks... WORST PICTURE: Pearl Harbor I gotta go with PH here. It was supposed to be such an "epic" and "meaningful" film and failed miserably. WORST ACTOR: John Travolta, Domestic Disturbance & Swordfish Travolta is our generation's Chuck Heston. When he's good, he's very good, but when he's bad he's unwatchable. WORST ACTRESS: Mariah Carey, Glitter Heh. No wonder she had a breakdown. WORST SCREEN COUPLE: Ben Affleck & EITHER Kate Beckinsale or Josh Hartnett, Pearl Harbor Luckily, Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms. WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Charlton Heston, Cats & Dogs, Planet of the Apes & Town & Country Lifetime Achievement award here. WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Drew Barrymore, Freddy Got Fingered Um, sure, why not. I'd still do her though. WORST REMAKE OR SEQUEL: Crocodile Dundee in LA Tough to beat JP3, but it does. WORST DIRECTOR: Michael Bay, Pearl Harbor I'll never curse Renny Harlin again. WORST SCREENPLAY: Glitter How Mariah Lost Her Groove.
Guest Anorak Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 Scary Movie 2 should be in the worst picture category, that film was just painful to watch.
Guest hardyz1 Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 I like the idea of the Razzies, but that's just retarded. The Worst Couple category is extremely ridiculous. Tom Green and any animal he abuses. Mariah Carey's cleavage. Fucking absurd. Rip Torn for Worst Supporting Actor?!?! He was great in FGF. Was Julie Haggerty Tom Green's girlfriend in FGF? If so, she was good, too. "Gordy, I don't want jewels. I just want to suck your cock." Brilliant. Fuck the Razzies.
Guest TheMikeSC Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 Freddy Got Fingered was SUPPOSED to be a bad film. But Americans dont understand irony, so everyone gets offended by it, and doesnt get it.>> No, Americans have a firm grasp on what constitutes crap. "Freddy Got Fingered" was the least entertaining film I've ever suffered through. If we showed this festering pile of crap to the detainees in Cuba, I'd agree that we were being inhumane. Save the outrage for a film that was, at the very least, decent. <.. its like on the Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD, as they comment about how by the time Meaning of Life came out, noone wanted to be fucked with, shocked or made to think anymore. noone wanted to look at anything for more than face value.>> What was the deeper meaning of "Freddy" that the vast majority of the world missed? The ONLY plus of that movie is that it tanked so badly that Tom Green might not have a career any longer. We can only hope. <<and this is how a genius film like FGF ends up on the razzies. >> Genius? You don't watch many films, do you? <<notice how they kept altering the awards and embelishing peoples roles (Drew Barrymore was in FGF for about one minute) just to spew more venom... >> There's not enough venom for this movie. Ed Wood could churn out a better movie---and he's been dead for decades. -=Mike
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 I agree that Freddy Got Fingered was intentionally bad. It's fucking TOM GREEN! The entire movie is about 90 minutes-long of sketches that probably never made it onto "The Tom Green Show" that Mr. Green wanted to do. And there's a huge audience for it. Find anybody from 13-18 in the public school system. I'm willing to pretty much guarantee you that they laughed their ass off at it. I know I did, and I'm not much on stupid humor.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 Why should we care about 13 year old kids? In 5 years they will realize it sucks.
Guest Army Eye Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 If Freddy Got Fingered was intentionally bad, then what is the problem with nominating it for worst movie? I think Town and Country deserved a nomination for worst movie.. $90 million budget and it grossed well under $10 million.. and for good reason
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 Army Eye, there were so many bad movies this year that it was impossible to put them all in. 2001 was one of the worst ever years for film, at least until it was partially saved by a great November/December.
Guest Gimli 1138 Posted February 14, 2002 Report Posted February 14, 2002 I guess I'll make some predictions too: Worst Picture: Pearl Harbor- Sure, I could go with those other four festering pieces of crappy cinema. However, unlike the others, Pearl Harbor PISSED ME THE HELL OFF. The inaccuricies were horrendous, the acting was atrocious, and the first 2 hours sucked the movie dry. Now, if it was just the attack, it would've been okay. But, they added two hours of festering crap, so it ain't okay. If it wasn't for Lord of the Rings, Moulin Rouge, The Man Who Wasn't There, and A.I., I would've given up on movies in general. Pearl Harbor sucked THAT much. Worst Actor: Tom Green- The Razzies may "award" John Travolta, since he is their personal whipping boy since Battlefield Earth. But, I think they're gonna rip into Tom this year. Worst Actress: Mariah Carey- The Razzies are gonna tear Mtv regulars this year. Of course, Glitter sucked ass and Mariah turned out that she could not act. Now, I am happy for the nomination of Penelope Cruz. True, she's hot, but she CAN'T ACT and is damn annoying. She's the reason why Vanilla Sky wasn't in my top ten, despite how good it was. Worst Screen Couple: Tom Green & Any Animal- I do hope the Pearl Harbor one gets disgraced. But, I am damn sure that the Razzies will go after Tom this year. Worst Supporting Actor: Charlton Heston- The thing about 2001 was that it had GREAT supporting perfomances, and it shows on this list. I'll have to go with Heston, over my personal hatred towards him. But, I will say that Slyvestor Stallone might win, just for old Razzie kicks. Worst Supporting Actress: Estella Warren- I don't care if she's hot, she sucks as an actress. At least Tim Burton used her right in POTA, and that was not letting her talk and just having her play as the sexy quiet type. However, Driven called for her to TALK. She's very unproven and really does suck. Worst Remake or Sequel: Pearl Harbor- I'm gonna assume that they mean worst remaking of a famous war scene with this one. So, I'll go with this one, since its historical remakes did suck and were often incorrect. Worst sequel to me, however, was JP 3. Worst Director: Tom Green- Like I've been saying, Tom Green is gonna be the Razzies' bitch. Worst Screenplay: Freddy Got Fingered- Jerking off a horse? BRILLIANT! Elephant ejaculation? OUTSTANDING! Rip Torn's ass? YEE-HAW! *Slaps own self* Whatever Tom was thinking came down on the film's crappy screenplay. I will say though that Scary Movie 3 should've been nominated. Other than that, the Razzie nominations were right on this year.
Guest the Goon Posted February 14, 2002 Report Posted February 14, 2002 yes, Freddy Got Fingered is indeed genius, and if you want to see my other list of great films of last year to see if i am a movie fan, i have them in an article at www.spacejunk.org under the year in review... heres an example of razzies/oscars horseshit FGF's love interest is handicapped, but she has a libido and a personality. pretty much every other movie in hollywood totally exploits them for tears and makes them complete saints whose only character lies in their struggle with their affliction. this is evidence by Sean Penn being nominated for "I am Sam" which is the most exploititive, sappy piece of shit to come along in a long while. as for jerking off a horse, etc. - this is what i meant about face value. its not the animal "abuse" and such that makes it funny, its the reaction. its the over the top nature of the man child character which has been done to death by sandler, the farrellys, etc - tom green makes himself hatable on purpose and shows that yes, manchildren can be gross. other evidence: the childbirth scene. how often in movies are we subject to incredibly stupid birth scenes where some stranger all of a sudden knows how to deliver a kid? in FGF they do that scene, go completely over the top and dare show a bloody baby, and continue on by breaking taboos - beating up children, swinging a baby around. Tom put his ass and career on the line by exploiting his own popularity to pack a movie with things noone else would ever dare to do. you can tell its all an in-joke by the TV executive character which is pretty much a direct reference to fooling execs into making this intentionally bad film. the fact that people were actually shocked or bothered by things like jacking off a horse for three seconds when we have a movie like American Pie 2 with some guy running around with his hand glued to his dick for half an hour and a gratuitious lesbian scene, or people being fine with a girl sticking cum in her hair in Something About Mary. Its interesting to see what people find acceptable as "shocking and funny" and what other people don't. at its base FGF is a parody of gross-out comedy, taking it to the extreme. ironically, when you actually watch in the context of "this is meant to be bad" you actually notice the brilliant use of score to show melodrama, use of soundtrack as toms own mission statement to critics ("problems" "ive gotta be me", etc).. this movie if anything is a parody on movies and critics, and designed to piss critics off. Tom Green is a combination of Andy Kaufman, John Waters, and Monty Pythons Meaning of Life. It IS brilliant. Americans DO NOT understand irony, especially the old fogey critics. And Americans do NOT like to be fucked with in the presentation of their entertainment. So look at it for face value and lump it in with "joe dirt" and "the animal" as if its in the same category. You dont know what you're missing. I suggest the New York Times review of FGF for even more detail about just how much is going on in this film. In twenty years this film will still be known and have a huge cult following. HUGE. I also suggest if you plan on renting FGF to listen to the DVD commentary, and in between Tom playing around you'll hear him divulge the same sort of information I just mentioned, plus more. As well notice theres an audio track of the world premiere, with people making "i'm grossed out" sounds throughout the feature. Theres so much going on in FGF its amazing. Not a perfect film, but the most unique movie to come along in years, bar none. genius.

Guest frenziedme Posted February 14, 2002 Report Posted February 14, 2002 Freddy got Fingered was terrible. It was just a bunch of sketches with actors instead of real people. The only reason he was funny on MTV was he because messed with real people. It wasn't genius, it was just 90 minutes of bad ideas and unfunny jokes.
Guest TheMikeSC Posted February 14, 2002 Report Posted February 14, 2002 yes, Freddy Got Fingered is indeed genius, and if you want to see my other list of great films of last year to see if i am a movie fan, i have them in an article at www.spacejunk.org under the year in review... >> Then you're a film fan who has an affinity for incredibly bad movies. <<heres an example of razzies/oscars horseshit FGF's love interest is handicapped, but she has a libido and a personality. pretty much every other movie in hollywood totally exploits them for tears and makes them complete saints whose only character lies in their struggle with their affliction. this is evidence by Sean Penn being nominated for "I am Sam" which is the most exploititive, sappy piece of shit to come along in a long while.>> And this makes the movie good in what way? The character---just like every other character in the movie---is horribly written, quite non-humorous, and borderline irritating. <<as for jerking off a horse, etc. Tom put his ass and career on the line by exploiting his own popularity to pack a movie with things noone else would ever dare to do.>> No, he did the ONLY thing he has any ability to do---he made an ass of himself. Green is not funny. He's not terribly bright. His writing is inept. His acting is even more inept. His show was so bad that MTV didn't want it---and they will air anything. BTW, his popuarity "packed" the theatres? Judging by the box office ($13.75M total), his popularity was about as big as I imagined. <<you can tell its all an in-joke by the TV executive character which is pretty much a direct reference to fooling execs into making this intentionally bad film. the fact that people were actually shocked or bothered by things like jacking off a horse for three seconds when we have a movie like American Pie 2 with some guy running around with his hand glued to his dick for half an hour and a gratuitious lesbian scene, or people being fine with a girl sticking cum in her hair in Something About Mary. Its interesting to see what people find acceptable as "shocking and funny" and what other people don't. at its base FGF is a parody of gross-out comedy, taking it to the extreme. >> It's not a parody. It's an attempt at a gross-out comedy that, amazingly, is even worse than the horrible "American Pie" movies. <<ironically, when you actually watch in the context of "this is meant to be bad" you actually notice the brilliant use of score to show melodrama, use of soundtrack as toms own mission statement to critics ("problems" "ive gotta be me", etc).. this movie if anything is a parody on movies and critics, and designed to piss critics off.>> No, it's a crappy film that Green (erroneously) imagined would be a funny film. The only plus, again, is that Tom's movie career is probably dead and he'll waste away into the anonymous oblivion that he so deserves. <<Tom Green is a combination of Andy Kaufman, John Waters, and Monty Pythons Meaning of Life.>> Well, Waters' movies have been terriblefor years now and Kaufman was nothing special. As for Meaning of Life---wel, both films were in focus, so I guess they have something in common. Life, though, was actualy well-written and was legitmately funny. <<It IS brilliant. Americans DO NOT understand irony, especially the old fogey critics. And Americans do NOT like to be fucked with in the presentation of their entertainment.>> I love this lie of thinking in defense of a movie that is bad. Judging by the numbers, NOBODY liked the movie. Not Americans, not Canadians, not Europeans, not the Japanese. People with TASTE don't like the movie. <<So look at it for face value and lump it in with "joe dirt" and "the animal" as if its in the same category.>> Believe me, I do. Firmly in the camp of "Crap", alongside such masterpieces as "Ghost in the Machine", "Battlefield Earth", and "Pearl Harbor" <<You dont know what you're missing. I suggest the New York Times review of FGF for even more detail about just how much is going on in this film.>> Hmm, so the review that likes the film is the only one that "gets" it? The NYT critic is the only one who really "appreciates" irony? The NYT critic is the one non-old fogey in the bunch? Interesting. I could mention that 90% of the reviews for the film were not only negative--they were BLISTERINGLY so. Heck, the positive reviews were hardly glowing. <<In twenty years this film will still be known and have a huge cult following. HUGE.>> So, it'll be the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" for our generation. Too bad "Rocky Horror" also sucked with gusto. <<I also suggest if you plan on renting FGF to listen to the DVD commentary, and in between Tom playing around you'll hear him divulge the same sort of information I just mentioned, plus more.>> Why in the world would I wish to waste my time listening to Green drone on, attempting to defend a film with no merit. <<As well notice theres an audio track of the world premiere, with people making "i'm grossed out" sounds throughout the feature.>> And? <<Theres so much going on in FGF its amazing. Not a perfect film, but the most unique movie to come along in years, bar none. genius. >> If that movie is genius, then idiocy has definite advantages. -=Mike
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 14, 2002 Report Posted February 14, 2002 If I had paid money to go see FGF at the Theatre, I would have stormed out 5 minutes in and demanded a refund or some free popcorn or something. It was bad enough as a 3 dollar rental.
Guest TUS_02 Posted February 14, 2002 Report Posted February 14, 2002 Now please... correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like the majority of you people didn't like Tom Green to begin with.. so WHY did you pluck down 3 to 8 bucks on a movie you obviously knew was going to blow ass in your opinion with his name on the marquee. It's not like he was hiding the fact it was supposed to be gross-out comedy.
Guest TheMikeSC Posted February 14, 2002 Report Posted February 14, 2002 Now please... correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like the majority of you people didn't like Tom Green to begin with.. so WHY did you pluck down 3 to 8 bucks on a movie you obviously knew was going to blow ass in your opinion with his name on the marquee. It's not like he was hiding the fact it was supposed to be gross-out comedy. >> Well, for me, every year I try to watch the absolute worst film of the year I can find so that I can use it as a judgment on other flms (i.e "Man, 'Josie and the Pussycats' was God awful---but it was better than 'FGF') "FGF" is up there with "Ghost and the Darkness" in terms of all-time crap fests. -=Mike ...It may have been a gross out---but it was NOT a comedy
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 WORST PICTURE: Glitter. I didn't mind Freddy Got Fingered, 3000 Miles To Graceland was a 3/10, Pearl Harbored suck but the war scene was nicely done, and Driven was a close second. The directing in it made me sick. Glitter... Well, it was Glitter. WORST ACTOR: John Travolta sucked in Domstic Disturbance. But Swordfish, come on. He kicked ass in Swordfish. I'm going with Keanu Reeves here. I can't stand him. I won't enjoy The Matrix sequels because he's in them. WORST ACTRESS: Why are the Razzies summing up every film an actress did for the whole year? Penelope Cruz sucked in Captain Corelli, but she was good in Vanilla Sky and Blow. Jennifer Lopez sucked in Wedding Planner, but surprisingly wasn't horrible Angel Eyes. Theron and Jolie suck, but not nearly as bad as Mariah Carey in Glitter, who is my pick. WORST SCREEN COUPLE: Ben Affleck & EITHER Kate Beckinsale or Josh Hartnett, Pearl Harbor. Completly unneeded love storyline thrown into Pearl Harbor. I like romance movies... When the romance belongs in the movie. WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Max Beesley in Glitter is my pick. He was beyond horrible. I didn't mind him in Kill Me Later (a DTV release with Selma Blair), but he sucked here with his phony accent. And Rip Torn? Come on, him and the actor from Half Baked were the only funny actors in the whole movie. WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Drew Barrymore did her part in the movie, which wasn't much, but still did good. Julie Haggerty, the handicapped blowjob girl, similar to Barrymore, did her part fine. I didn't bother seeing Planet of the Apes, so I'll go with Goldie Hawn for Town & Country. $90 million to make, $8 at the box office. WORST REMAKE OR SEQUEL: I liked Crocodile Dundee in LA. Funny little film, with some funny cameos by Paul Rodrigeuz and Mike Tyson. JP 3 blew, didn't bother with POA, Pearl Harbor sucked, and Sweet November was just horrible. No likeable qualities about it, and I liked the original. WORST DIRECTOR: How can Michael Bay be nominated for worst director? The film sucked, but the directing didn't. Tom Green wasn't a horrible director, and Vondie Curtis Hall didn't suck as bad as Mariah Carey's actor. Renny Harlin gets my vote, as he did so many cuts that is made me sick. Even when Sylvester is having a conversation, everytime someone would say something, it would cut to their face and I felt like shooting myself. WORST SCREENPLAY: Driven and 3000 Miles to Graceland don't get the vote because they're just typical action films that were made horrible by shitty acting and bad promotion. Freddy Got Fingered was funny to people who find Tom Green funny. Glitter seemed like a good idea when Mariah Carey was popular. But Pearl Harbor. Come on. They were aiming for males to come see the movie. It was a war movie. And they turned it into a love story. Bastards.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 "Why are the Razzies summing up every film an actress did for the whole year" The Razzies have always done this.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 "Why are the Razzies summing up every film an actress did for the whole year" The Razzies have always done this. I know that they've always done this, but this is Hollywood. Most actors will say "Okay, this movie has a budget of $15 M, while my next one has $45 M. I'll mail this one in, and do well in the next." Kind of like what Penelope Cruz seemingly did. Denzel Washington probably would've mailed the performance in for Training Day (it wasn't THAT good of a movie), but luckily for him, he saw an opprotunity to prove himself, and he seized the opportunity.
