I should have known something was up when Raven hit the commentary table. All just a set-up to get Lawler over in his hometown. I knew it was too good to be true... they finally get a good colour man to save us from PuppyMania, and it's all a ruse. And they couldn't even give us a proper payoff to the match!

Everything tonight had so much potential:

 

- Booker T finally turning face by giving the nWo the finger instead of doing that hand sign

- the commentary team finally getting someone who talks about wrestling.  I didn’t want Lawler to be replaced, but a 3-man team with Raven wouldn’t have been too bad

- RVD finally getting that push to the top level

 

I thought the WWE had listened to their audience and were going to change, but yet again they dissappoint and it's the same old shit.

 

At least I’m looking forward to Eddie vs. Stone Cold.

Since when is Raven a good commentator?

 

All he said tonight was "You know nothing about wrestling, all you talk about is puppes." He repeated that sentiment MORE THAN KING SHOUTS PUPPIES. Any time Raven tried to attack King, it came out as this.

 

"Y... you just... wel... y... you don't know anything about wrestling anymore, y..." Not stuttering, just pausing because he couldn't think of anything else to say.

 

THIS is your idea of a good commentator?

 

Fuck that. Gimme Lawler over Raven any day of the week.

Hmm.  Well at least we know one thing.  The WWE has at least figured out what most of us have known for a fact: Lawler sucks.  But you know, a 3rd man at the table, ie Raven, would be pretty cool maybe.

Raven is waaay better than lawler on the mic. I really, really think they should have him as the cornerstone of the hardcore division for the time being, give him booking duties there as well. Most of the spots in the rhyno match last year were his, and that was the best HC title match in the wwf ever.

I think the comentary on Raw could be freshened up by Raven who, if you ever listen to him on Heat, is a real Heel anouncer he glorifies the heels and puts down the faces like the heel anouncers of old which i like move the King to Heat and have him do PPV's with Ross and let Raven do comentary on Raw

 

Too bad Raven doesn't want to do comentary and would much rather wrestle

Even if it was for a cheap pop for Lawler (I cringe at the thought), I can't believe the one time I miss RAW my man Raven dishes out my... uhh... un-man Lawler, with stuff I say all the time! ???

 

At least the news that Raven wants to get back into wrestling more often is good though.  Maybe he can make the Hardcore Belt semi-credible like last year when he had all those matches with Rhyno.  Who's Hardcore champion now anyway?

Don't forget the line, "what do you know about puppies anyway? Is that why your wife left you?" Something like that. Lawler looked like he was gonna cry.

 

That was some old school, Memphis Shoot style stuff there.

If there was a better commentator out there, then yes I would say Lawler has to go.  Everyone else that's availble is much worse than he is.

That shows you that no one made an effort to actually write the segment. They just told Raven and King to go out there and do something that leads to a match.

 

You could also tell it was hastily thrown together because:

 

1) Raven's comments about King's wife would never have been approved by King if he knew about them beforehand.

2) Lawler's not THAT good of an actor. He was legitimately taken aback.

3) Raven ran out of material real quick. Lawler's responses weren't very diverse, either.

4) For coming out there to "properly call the match," Raven didn't say much.

5) During the Raven/Lawler match, Raven said he'd "see [JR] next week." JR said "in your dreams," but it's not like King's announcer spot was said to be on the line or anything.
