Wwf pays tribute to bulldog on raw

Recommended Posts

I can be the first to say it dropped a tear down my eye seeing this. My hat's off to Vince for doing the right thing. It was really powerful as well and was a nice tribute for his life.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure that mentioning his "personal demons" was necessary and Vince sounded like he was reading the sprict live without ever seeing it before but you take what you can get I suppose.

It was very nice.  My only complaint is that it was a bit late.

A bit late? How so? Maybe for people who saw Judgement Day, but not everyone had that opportunity (or WANTED to see JD *gag*) so it's kind of obvious that the next (earliest) opportunity to air a tribute would be RAW. Plus, you have to take into consideration the actual production of said tribute. Finding all the old footage. Writing the copy. Setting/writing the music, etc. It's not just something that you can whip up in 2 minutes and throw on air. I'm not defending the WWE, but c'mon -- be realistic.

Realistic?  I don't know how I can be any more realistic.  This is the WWE, a multi-million dollar corporation with a very high standard of production.  This isn't some cable access channel we're talking about.  Davey Boy passed away on Saturday.  If they really wanted to, they could have completed what they showed tonight by the time the PPV went to air.  Isn't it misleading when you heard Vince say, "Yesterday morning, Davey Boy Smith passed away."?  This company produces a live 2 hour show and 6 hours of pretaped programming each week.  I don't think it would take almost 2 days to produce a 60-second piece.

I assume they put it on raw because it would be catering to a larger audience(I realise raw doesn't have an audience anymore but then again check out the buyrate for JD when it comes.)

And why the fuck did anyone order that abomination of a ppv anyway?

Hogan and undertaker WTF!!!!

There you go.  Thats why they did it then, so they could get it on the "flagship"  Don't ask me why though they had Vince read the copy on Sunday unless they intended to run it on Heat/PPV and decided not to.

BTW I think thats what they did for Pillman, Vince came on the PPV and announced that Brian was no longer with us and they did the tribute the next night on Raw

As has been stated before:

average RAW audience = x

average PPV audience = subset of x

They wanted to reach more viewers with the tribute. As for the production delaying the release of the video, I doubt it. Vince works his people to the bone, and they definitely could've whipped up the tribut video in a relatively short amount of time.

At least they didn't wait until everyone ripped them a new asshole like they did w/ Thesz's.

Plus the WWE had tributes from various wrestlers on their website before Judgment Day.

As the resident Bulldog mark I thought it was a great tribute.
