Joe must be a pretty good Plumber to be making 250 grand a year.

Well, if so, John McCain can probably be credited for the inevitable growth of the plumbing industry that will likely be resulting.

It's all part of his 8 stage Mario Plan.

I don't like the fact he thinks us white people are trash. We're not.

Well, I'm not, and maybe you're not...can't speak for everyone, though.

How does one distinguish a "first string negro" anyway?

I like how the media and left wing blogs have done everything but accuse Joe the Plumber of being a Joe the Republican Plant at Obama's thing the other day to give them a talking point at the debate. But hey, thats just a wacky conspiracy theory!

I also bet that if the Media had even the slightest hint that Joe the Plumber would become "Joe the Republican who will not be voting for Obama" they would have never even put him on TV in the first place. They got caught off guard like they did with Sarah Palin and now they're doing everything in their power to smear him 72 ways from Sunday just like they did with Palin, and I think its more disgusting because unless you buy into my conspiracy theory, then this guy is getting smeared for doing nothing but having the guts to ask Obama a question. I don't think he asked to be the major focus of the debate and I don't think he would have even asked the question if he knew he'd be getting attacked for it. Is that what we're moving towards in this country? "How dare you ask Obama a tough question! We'll dig up dirt on you so fast you'll never no what hit you!" Its disgusting.

Im just happy theres at least someone else out there who thinks that its flat out wrong for the government to tax people more if they're more succesful in their business or job and give it to people who have done nothing to deserve it.

Cannot wait for the McCain/Palin campaign to repudiate this:

I thought Al Jazeera News was nothing but people burning American flags, interviews with terrorists, and live footage of beheadings.

That video's pretty disgusting. It's a reminder that no matter what sort of progression we make, there's always going to be that group of folks who have a racist viewpoint instilled in their life. Fear of a black planet, indeed. These people ARE trash.

1) You're wrong

2) You base your arguments off of shitty premises

3) It was McCain who brought him up, the media is going to do some investigative journalism NO MATTER WHAT.

4) He's getting smeared because he asked Obama a tough question, fucking please.

Mods, please, ban Marvin from this folder. This is not (panthermatt, I'm talking to you) an attempt to silence opposing viewpoints, but I'm calling for an end to Marvin's incessant trolling. That's, at the core, what it is. His one actual talking point in the last 2 months doesn't make up for the several years worth of terrible posting, flame wars, and bullshit. It's terrible that most of our conservative members (Marney, Marvin) have been swatting away any semblance of legitimate debate as if it were an oncoming attack of killer bees, but seriously now, this is just plain ole trolling and outright terrible posting.

Not to say that the liberal section of this board hasn't come up with some stupid arguments, but I don't think many come close to Marvin's almost daily spoonful of unmitigated Glennbeckery and out and out crap.

Put a fucking end to this once and for all.

So what about Dan, Sam, Charles, the other plumbers, that make under 250,000 in their plumbing businesses.

They would probably benefit a lot from Obama's plan.

Our tax system goes as follows, "the more you earn, the more you pay"

That's the way it has been for a long time, it's not a liberal or conservative philosophy, it's the tax code.

If you want to argue that we should change the tax code then fine, try to drum up support for it through legislation and get it changed, but don't complain about it and just demand tax cuts.

By the way, haven't we, for the last eight years basically lived under the "trickle-down" philosophy via George W. Bush tax cuts? Where has that gotten us? So what exactly is McCain's answer? That Bush didn't give ENOUGH tax cuts to the wealthy?

I don't mind paying higher taxes if in fact it is not in the form of "spreading the wealth." More like "balancing the budget." Or "reducing the national debt." Not spend here, here, and here too.

When I say I don't mind, I mean, I don't like it, but I can deal with it. Raising taxes to add more programs sucks. We can't even pay for the ones we've got.

Or paying for The Occupation in Iraq(which all signs are pointing to turning into Afganistan as well in the near future). I think when Joe Biden said it is "patriotic" to pay your taxes, he should have mentioned that we sort of have this War going in in the middle east region that shows no signs of ending, and it has to be paid for somehow, and it doesn't help when a lot of corporations are using tax loopholes to get out of helping pay their fair share, not to mention the defense contractors who are probably coming out of this whole thing in a pretty sweet position.

If Me, you, and "Joe The Plumber" are going to be asked to help pay for the war through taxes, so should WalMart Corp.

It's funny how people claim that it is going to be so dangerous to raise taxes under the current economic conditions, yet they had no problem slashing the taxes as our country was preparing for a long drawn out war, which was an uprecidented move. and if I remember correctly McCain was actually AGAINST said tax cuts initially, until he figured he would have to "fire up the base" and he did a total 180 and now there isn't a single tax he sees that shouldn't be cut. That crafty McCain.

CNN said the ads were in some NBA game and Burnout Paradise for the 360.

the expert said it was because Obama had more money than he knows what to do with because they were pretty much a waste of money though it wasnt much money.

Um. Wow. I'm ashamed to be from Ohio with these people. Because he has a different skin tone that automatically means he hates white people? The fuck?! And he's a terrorist. Ugh... I'm glad I'm only now tuning in to the whole Presidential campaign stuff.

Question: Was FDR really that bad of a President?

The way I hear the Conservatives speak of his New Dean and such recently, you'd think he ran this country into the ground

Question: Was FDR really that bad of a President?

FDR was such a bad president that he got elected 4 times, reshaped American politics for the next half-century, and was ranked by historians as our 3rd best president. So, yeah, he was pretty horrible.

Anyhoo...

Inland GOP mailing depicts Obama's face on food stamp

racist16_400.jpg

The latest newsletter by an Inland Republican women's group depicts Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama surrounded by a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken, prompting outrage in political circles.

The group's president, Diane Fedele, said she plans to send an apology letter to her members and to apologize at the club's meeting next week. She said she simply wanted to deride a comment Obama made over the summer about how as an African-American he "doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

"I didn't see it the way that it's being taken. I never connected," she said. "It was just food to me. It didn't mean anything else."

She said she also wasn't trying to make a statement linking Obama and food stamps, although her introductory text to the illustration connects the two: "Obama talks about all those presidents that got their names on bills. If elected, what bill would he be on????? Food Stamps, what else!"

I'm kind of wondeing...Does the charge of "SOCIALISM~!" really have the scare-factor it did 20 or even 10 years ago? After hearing so many McCain-backers use it as a buzz-word, and seeing video of the people at his rallies throw it around as an epithet, I'm wondering if the charge really does have as much power to frighten ANYONE into voting Republican?
