Oh...yeah...that wrestlemania buyrate

The torch is reporting that the WrestleMAnia buyrate is gonna come in much much lower than expected.

Possibly as low as 800,000.

"The early estimates of the WrestleMania buyrate are being scaled down by several sources. The early estimation was that WrestleMania received 1.3 million buys, but sources are now saying that the buyrate may come in as low as 800,000. [source: PWTorch.com]"

Thats quite a drop, eh?

Who cares about the buyrate? Do you own stock? Do you work for WWE? Just watch the matches.

'Only' 800,000 buys...wow, Vince must be so unhappy about that. It's still one of the most successful events of all time. Even better considering the general economy and level of interest in wrestling at the moment.

566 posts...and you have no idea what this board is about still?

Whats the point in discussing anything?

Whats the point of having this messageboard?

Lets just shut it down.

The question of why you are here if you just want to watch the matches?

And don't forget that wrestling makes up about 75% of all ppv revenues.  So called sports like boxing would love to be able to get a chunk of that.  Other than once every few years fights like Tyson-Lewis, live pay per views don't generate much money.

"566 posts...and you have no idea what this board is about still?"

Judging from all of your posts...bashing HHH and Hogan?

"Whats the point in discussing anything?"

The discussion of a buy rate is trivial. Seriously, I like to discuss things as much as the next guy, but this just strikes me as irrelevant.

"Whats the point of having this messageboard?"

To put individual opinions across? You posted yours, I posted mine. Different strokes for different folks, right?

Ok....so no one finds the fact that A HALF MILLION less people ordered the ppv than the numbers that have been bantered about to be worthy of a simple topic on a messageboard where ratings and buyrates are discussed every day?

*Sigh*

OK, if you insist. Yes, from the perspective of a business student, I do find that alarming. However, I never actually saw that it was believed to be 1.3 million. Did WWE say that was the projected buy rate, or did it come from someone else? I think 1.3 million was a little too over the top, but I wouldn't be disappointed with 800k buys, especially with the business like it is at the moment with any growth being difficult to garner.

But the WWF spent FAR more on advertising WM than their other shows and Hogan v Rock was THE most hyped match.

I would be pissed if all of my effort resulted in a buyrate as low as 800K.
