My kotr tourney idea

Recommended Posts

Guest

Here is my idea.. have 16 wrestlers from RAW and 16 from Smackdown. They will compete on their own shows with the other guys.

Then at the PPV, the final 8 are 'randomly' paired to mix the matchups.

Here's my idea for the tournament, with seeds from 1 to 16

Smackdown bracket:

#1 seed Jericho over #16 seed Funaki

#9 seed Al Snow over #8 seed Albert

#12 seed Faarooq over #5 seed Chuck

#4 seed Billy over #13 seed Mark Henry

#11 seed Randy Orton over #6 seed Tajiri

#3 seed D-Von over #14 seed Val Venis

#7 seed Test over #10 seed Maven

#2 seed Rikishi over #15 seed Christian

RAW Bracket:

RVD (1) over Justin Credible (16)

Raven (9) over Goldust (8)

Jeff Hardy (12) over Big Show (5)

Booker T (4) over Planet Stasiak (13)

Brock Lesnar (6) over Matt Hardy (11)

Tommy Dreamer (14) over X-Pac (3)

Bubba Ray Dudley (7) over Stevie Richards (10)

William Regal (2) over Crash (15)

Smackdown bracket:

Jericho (1) over Snow (9)

Faarooq (12) over Billy (4)

D-Von (3) over Randy O (11)

Rikishi (2) over Test (7)

RAW:

RVD (1) over Raven (9)

Booker (4) over Jeff Hardy (12)

Lesnar (6) over Tommy Dreamer (14)

Bubba Ray Dudley (7) over Regal (2)

Mixed Brackets for the PPV-

RVD (RAW) over D-Von (Smackdown)

Booker T (RAW) over Faarooq (Smackdown)

Brock Lesnar (RAW) and Rikishi (Smackdown) go to a non-ending

Chris Jericho (Smackdown) over Bubba Ray Dudley (RAW)

RVD over Booker T

Jericho gets a bye

and the finals...

Rob Van Dam over Chris Jericho

My other match ideas for the KOTR PPV-

Undertaker v. Edge (hey, why not?)

Eddy~! v. Steve Austin (remember that Flair benched Austin on RAW)

Goldust and The Hardy Boys v. Nash, Big Show and X-Pac (if Nash is ready and willing)

Billy and Chuck (who I would give the tag belts tonight on SD) v. Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr (or Kidman and someone else)

[Or even a Six Man tag deal with Billy, Chuck and Tajiri v. Randy Orton, Kidman and Maven. Remember Maven is with Torrie]

What do you all think of my ideas?

I think they're terrible because I zoom in on Randy Orton over Tajiri and that's all I see. If you stated Randy Orton won after outside interference, Tajiri having him pinned on 3 ref bumps, and Orton only winning after rolling Tajiri up out of nowhere with the feet on the ropes and a hook of the tights and a quick ref count, then I'd consider it being acceptable, but otherwise... NO!

Bubba Dudley over Regal?????

Bubba should have the opening match at the PPV, in a Hardcore title match against Stevie Richards, Tommy Dreamer, Maven, Albert

King of the Ring

Regal vs Hardcore Holly

Brock vs Randy Orton

Booker T vs Goldust

Jeff Hardy vs Hurricane

Brock vs Booker T in finals

Why put RVD in the KOTR instead of the main event?  I have a feeling Brock will win this year.  He is the next guy who needs a push to the upper-mid card level.

Sorry, they're bad ideas

Edge vs. Undertaker would suck

Goldust and The Hardy's suck...so does every member of the nWo (besides Booker T)

Chuckabilly will always suck, no matter who they face

ah well...better luck next time

What?

Would it be that bad if RVD won the KotR, AND won the Undisputed Title?  Wouldn't that establish him greatly and give him a huge push.

The WWE can play it like this:

UT needs a opponent for KotR for his title.  No one wants to fight him (say HHH-Edge are in their feud), and Flair says that UT can fight RVD for the title after the KotR tourny.  He'd be already tired.. it'd be unfair.. blah, blah, blah.

RVD has to win 2 matches (or is it 3) matches to get to the finals, and he wins.

RVD goes into the ME with UT, and UT dominates most of match, but RVD somehow wins the Undisputed Title.

It would give the feel of him beating "all odds" and what-not.  Oh blah... that rant was so my RVD-markness coming out.  (Forgive me)

I think... either Brock or RVD will win KotR.

Whatever the WWE does, it needs to be good, fresh, and entertaining.

To address a few points:

Tajiri loses in the first to ensure a face/heel match in round two. Unless I wanted to make a Val Venis/Tajiri match.

Brock hasn't been in the WWF for long enough to win the King of the Ring. He simply is not being groomed enough to win it. Plus KOTR is a springboard up to the IC title level and I wouldn't put Brock there yet

Buh Buh goes over Regal to preserve the face/heel balance

Brock won't win the King of the Ring. He'll probably leave it in screwy fashion

I don't think RVD/UT at the PPV is gonna do much good at this point, remember that the RAW with both of them in the ME bombed big time, so some more buildup would be needed before the WWF risks bombing a PPV

anyways...

I agree that would rule. That would be a great push the Undisputed title and KOTR in one night talk about overnight stardome. The WWE needs new blood like RVD, Jericho and even Edge not guys like taker and hogan.

I would like the KOTR finals to be RVD vs Brock or RVD vs Eddie in one last blowoff match where RVD can finally prove he is better than Eddie with out taking his strap.

I don't think RVD/UT was the cause of the low Raw rating.

Maybe people had been tuning in the previous week of Raw's and thought, "Oh that show just sucked."  And decided to tune out this week's Raw thinking it would suck, too.  Who knew RVD was going to get a push this week... no one.

Plus, add to the fact that people had to see the Hardy's twice in one night, the NWO stuff was drawn out, and the Austin-Eddy stuff was drawn out (but good)... people just tuned out.

Maybe after the flipped the channels from that stuff, they tuned in JUST for the main event... who knows.

Oh and bps... let's all hope you're wrong.

Only the final 4 wrestle on the PPV, with that being

RVD vs Brock Lesnar (RAW Bracket)

and

Chris Jericho vs Edge. (Smackdown Bracket)

Finals: RVD (RAW) vs Chris Jericho (Smackdown)

RVD wins, gets a title shot at Vengeance (JULY PPV) and wrestles Undertaker, loses and then gets Billy Gunned back to curtain jerking.

Personally I think all your ideas are bad.  The King of the Ring should be a way to get guys at the bottom of the card over with the fans.  Not showcase already established top guys like Jericho, RVD, and Booker T.(sure those guys have been made bitches of late, but their still considered upper midcarders or ME level)

I say give the King of the Ring push to guys like Hurricane, Tajiri, Kidman, Storm, Saturn, Christian, Raven, maybe Edge, maybe Dreamer(give him one of those last chance at greatness pushes like they did Jake Roberts a while back), or even Mike Awesome or Brock.

Isn't Saturn going to be out for a while?  Throw in a returning Kanyon in his place
