Other than that, I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

He applies the detuned heaviness so well. It makes me smile to listen to it. Geezer Butler of Sabbath is of course my all-time favourite bassist; and I like to emulate his bluesy style. Almost all of my stuff harks back to good ol' Geezer. Even though Hetfield and Ulrich didn't let him write alot, when he did Newsted blew me away. Double stops rule. Also on the list: Les Claypool, Flea, Burton, Jaco, Berlin, Stu Hamm.

Fuck Goldberg, Woody is DA MAN! Anybody who doesn't know who Allen Woody is...go to your local CD store...go to the G section, look for Gov't Mule...pick up ANY of the CDs in there, especially Dose or the 4 CD special edition NYE 98 set, and prepare to be amazed. While you're at it, pick up Live At Roseland, and put on Trane. Nothing can be said about it...its amazing. I cant even begin to hypothesize what that big bastard would be doing right now if he hadn't died just about two years ago. Big filthy nasty tone...he plays so fast at times I swear he was playing chords. Plus, he had the coolest bass I ever saw...doubleneck...bass on top, mandolin on the bottom. As for Lesh....amazing for different reasons...he's the best lead bassist I've ever heard...he truly is the 6 string master. I add: Dave Schools (Widespread Panic) John Rider (Max Creek) Chris Layton (Double Trouble) Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report, Jazz Is Dead, many more) Jack Cassady (Hot Tuna) Mike Gordon (Phish) Todd Smallie (Derek Trucks band) Fieldy (if only for that monster bomb drop at the beginning of "Blind")
