Eclipse 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 For some reason, any MIDI files I download, and play, do NOT play on the PC. They actually play, but no sound is being heard. Every other file type works, except MIDI. Just to let you know..I have Windows XP PRO with Service Pack 2. I went to the Control Panel, and into the Sounds and Audio Devices icon. I went into the Audio tab.. Under sound playback, the device playing it is: ESS Allegro Under sound recording, the device playing it is: ESS Allegro Under MIDI music playback, there isn't a device listed. I went to the MIDI Music playback scroll down list, and ESS Allegro and MPU-401 are listed. EVERYTIME I try to put one to become the device that will play MIDI, the device gets unlisted, and it won't stay there. I have no clue what's wrong.
