Randy Savage...

Recommended Posts

With the current wave of Nostolgia coming over WWE and them bringing in guys like Hogan, Piper, Billy Graham, Snuka, etc. on a regular basis, and even giving attention to guys who a year ago you NEVER thought you'd see mentioned in WWE again like Bret Hart and Warrior, there is one guy who remains suspiciously absent from this. The one guy who you rarely hear mentioned, and never see is Randy Savage. To my knowledge, Savage may very well be the only fence left that Vince has yet to mend, discounting guys like Sammartino who want nothing to do with him, and guys like Kevin Wacholz whom Vince has legit heat with. Is there any real bad blood between Vince Mcmahon and Savage? I mean, I know we've all heard that story about him fucking Steph which is more then likely nonsense, but is there anything else that could explain the absence of Savage in the WWE's current view of their history? Even on the Greatest Stars of the 80's DVD which covers nearly every big name in the 80's, including guys like Orndorf and Orton whom calling stars might be a stretch, Savage is only briefly mentioned in the segment on Steamboat regarding their match at WM 3 which isn't even seen in it's entirety on the disc. I mean, I'm aware of the legit heat which may or may not exiust between Savage and Hogan, but they're not dummies. Money talks, and I'm sure if given the oppertunity, they'd put whatever issues they have with each other aside for another big pay day at WM.

For realz, I miss Rappin' Randy Savage. I never realized how awesome he was until I was watching WWE 24/7 and saw a WWF Champion Savage vs. Andre. Savage was a good face.

In an interview with Kevin Nash on Mancow a few months ago, Nash said Savage is going through the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease. So that could explain it.

For the record, Junkyard Dog vs Randy Savage (from Wrestling Classic) is shown in its entirety on disc 1 of the DVD. Also, I imagine the absence of Savage vs Steamboat from WM 3 is mostly due to the Wrestlemania boxset coming out later this year, since there are no other WM matches on the 80s DVD.

Either way, Savage looked terrible in his most recent TNA appearance, and I don't feel there's any great need for a WWE return. I just don't see his presence adding anything worthwhile in 2005, when their focus should be on their future (granted, Hogan vs HBK maineventing SS kinda negates that, but still).

According to Obssessed With Wrestling, Randy Savage has lost a lot of weight and shaved his beard since last seen in TNA. This makes him almost unrecognizable.

Around November 1999, Geogre left Savage after he wanted to include her younger sister, who was a teenager, in their relationship

Someone asked about Savage on the Observer site, asking why he hadn't signed a legends deal. This was Dave's reply:

Savage hasn't been signed because the company thinks his insanity levels are at the same level as Warrior.

Wow, what was the source for him banging Steph?

It was in a huge thread about wrestling urban legends on the DVDR boards last year

I had that saved under Favorites, and only got through the first 35 pages or so of a 100+ page thread. Apparently it is no longer up.

Savage definitely deserves WWE HoF induction, but they may have to either induct him in without him being there or wait for him to die off, because he is too unstable right now to be given a live mic at an induction ceremony. Basically, the man is out to lunch right now and I don't think he cares about his wrestling legacy. At least for now.

If nothing else Savage deserve's a 3 or 4 disk DVD release. With all the great angles and matches he was involved in, it would be one of the best available.

It wouldn't surprise me if they signed him to their "Legends" deal. A Randy Savage DVD would sell like hot cakes. An action figure would sell pretty well, I'd bet, too.

Thing is, the Legend's deal is $10,000. That's a lot of bones to you and I and on the outside seems worth it, but Savage is of the mentality that he can do better than that money, even if it includes residuals from toy and merchandise monies. I'm not saying Savage is right, I'm saying that is what he thinks and I don't think he'll sign that Legends contract anytime soon.

From RSPW:

"Savage left the WWF to jump to WCW, which makes Vince McMahon's

acklowledgement of contract troubles and praise of Savage on Monday

Night RAW quite surprising. The lure of a big money contract,

rumoured to be in the $400K per year range (basically, the same

salary as Ric Flair - something to think about), combined with an

apparent mending of fences with Hulk Hogan led to Savage's jump.

Reports are that Savage will debut in WCW at Starrcade, but not

wrestle there, and begin in the new year as Hulk Hogan's tag

team partner. "

Doesn't sound like the departure of soemone Vince was really pissed at, especially not someone who fucked steph.

Never heard about the possible Alzheimer's Disease. And Nash and Hall could tell jokes about anybody so who knows if that's real.

I never saw him in TNA but heard he wasn't as good, so that would help explain it maybe if it was true.

When he was in TNA though he was the highest paid Wrestler per show, the only reason he left is because Jarrett wasn't willing to give up the belt to him (which Jarrett had way to long in TNA). Also Hogan being backstage didn't make matter better.

Macho is one of my favorites. Ashame he isn't, cann't, or doesn't want to be in Wrestling anymore. There's a lot of older Wrestlers in the WWE now a days like Hulk Hogan, HBK, Ric Flair, and even Mick Foley and Vader coming back so it's weird that he isn't, maybe their all just jokes and Macho doesn't want to be a joke Wrestler if he cann't perform at a high level? HBK isn't a joke though.

Never heard he was with Stephanie McMahon either or that he wanted to be with George's sisiter. He left George I thought because she was starting to do the Porn stuff which Macho didn't approve of, he didn't need a girl like that. Just temporally relief when he was with her. Geez, she was half his age so he had some fun.

One day Macho and Elizabeth will be in the Hall of Fame together though, and that's for sure.

What's this about Vader coming back?

I don't think Vader is actually coming back to wrestle, or even make any appearances in WWE necessarily. He did sign a Legends deal though (as evidenced by the action figure of him coming out soon). I would mark up if he showed up to wrestle someone, though I'm not really interested in seeing him show up just to do a quick job to someone, since he did enough of that in WWF.

This begs the question of who was the bigger WWE ball-dropping? Vader was a legit world title threat and among the best big men we've ever seen, certainly the best monster heel I can recall outside of Andre.(and yes, that includes Yoko.)

So, who'd the WWE drop the ball with more? Vader? or Batista?

Of course, you could easily blame it on HHH or the Kliq.
