Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Best episode of the season...one of their best ever. The swerve with Spike at the end was great, they were going for the chip then that they turned a complete 180. Giles coming back was very good...hope he's back for next season. The thing with Willow and Xander almost choked me up...it's looking like the show could return to some of it's campyness that made it great to start with. I have high hopes for season 7... PS...I'm glad that whoever posted the "SPOILERS" in an earlier thread was way wrong on almost everything.

Guest Kingpk Report post Posted May 22, 2002 I'm not an avid Buffy fan in the slightest, but I gotta say their season finales kick ass. Tonight's was no exception. Alyson Hannigan was fantastic as evil Willlow. *edit* I heard Gellar say that next season will be more on the lighter side, because they went for the serious stuff this season. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Eh i don't know. It was a good episode but the entire end pissed me off. I'm personally sick and tired of the weepy crying oh poor me stuff they have started doing alot this season. It is becoming too much like a show you'd expect Lifetime to show. And now there's a good chance that Spike will now be joining in on the crying pity me party with the rest of the gang. I'm hoping that it just makes him pissed off and detirmined to destroy Buffy and all those around her. Now don't get me wrong i have nothing aganest emotional tv shows or movies. However this is a lighthearted show about kids killing demons that has no reason to try being all serious and overly emotional. The addition of that annoying as hell Dawn and then making her a permanent cast member has damn near ruined this entire show. I really really hope that she gets killed off next season. If Dawn is killed off and a pissed off Spike is raising havoc with everyone next year then the show will be much better off. But if everyone remains weepy and teary eyed with Spike joining Dawn Buffy and Willow over a cup of key talking about how hard it is having a soul and feeling pain then i think i'll have to give up on the show. If i want Vampires and other creatures being emotional i'll watch Dark Shadows.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Ok... Willow has already killed off Warren and is going after Jonathon and Andrew...Buffy and Xander do their best to hide them from her. Willow kills off the magic dealer guy and sucks him dry...now she's super duper wicca Blah blah blah...they meet in the Magic Box later and Xander takes off with Jon and Andy to get away from Willow...Buffy stays and fights...Willow kicks her ass and out of nowhere comes Giles for the save. Giles and Willow have a huge fight and Willows kicks his ass and sucks Giles dry of all of his magic (he got it on loan from some witches in England...long story) Meanwhile...Spike is having these little fights to the death, tests for him to pass so he can have his chip removed. Willow eventually starts blasting this Satanic shrine with power and such and plans on destroying the world...Xander stands in her way and she beats him up for a while...he keeps getting back up and every time he says "I love you" she kicks his ass more...painful to watch. The magic she sucked from Giles was planned all along by Giles, it starts giving her back her humanity and she eventually controlls herself and her and Xander have this big emotional moment at the end...touching stuff Buffy and Dawn end up fighting a batch of bad guys together and they end up having this bonding moment. And then the end...Spike passes his tests and he tells the guy he wants things like the eay they use to be (meaning he wants the chip out)...the guy grants his wish...and makes things the way they use to be...he restores his soul. And that's where the end it. Kick ass episode
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Ugh...I loved the episode (even the dumb Dawn fighting bit), but that ending was lame. I really hope Spike doesn't turn into some stupid Angel clone next season. It almost seems as if they're setting up Buffy and Spike getting together next season and staying together, which would SUCk. I actually really like the Spike character, and I had nothing against the thing him and Buffy had this season. I thought next season would have been great with evil Spike making his return, and then finally dying in some big end of series fight. Guess we won't have that though. :| Hmm, the rest of the ep was awesomely awesome though...Jonathan and Andrew running off to Mexico = hilarious. And some of evil Willow's lines (like when she trashed Dawn) were just fantastic.
Guest Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Now don't get me wrong i have nothing aganest emotional tv shows or movies. However this is a lighthearted show about kids killing demons that has no reason to try being all serious and overly emotional. That's not the main premise. As Joss Whedon has said, the show is about growing up. I know that sounds extremely cliche, but this series was never intended to be a straight up lighthearted romp. It has nearly always had serious undertones one way or another. I do agree that some of the campyness should return next season though. As for this season's finale, I simply loved it. One of my all time favorites. Alyson simply tore it up. I loved it when she talked about how her life was nothing, except for those moments when Tara would just look at her and everything was right. Then the next second she was back into badass Willow mode. Ownage. The Xander/Willow scene got to me. I can't wait for next season. Who's to say that Spike has a good soul now? Guest Ripper Report post Posted May 22, 2002 I think it is the realness of the show throws people off. If this had been another show, Buffy would have been over the whole dying thing in about 2 weeks, Dawn would have been over the whole, "I'm not real, My mom is dead, my sister is died for me only to be resurected and now seems not to give a shiot about me, my surrogote parents are Willow and Tara who are broken up" thing in about a week or two...and it just wouldn't have been real. In a real life scenario, it would take a while for a 14 year old to deal with discovering being adopted, let alone not being a real human...It would take more than a year to get over your mothers death, and your sister. It would take more than a year for you to get over the surrogaote parents relationship. This is what makes the show real in midst of all the demons and vampires... On to the finale...I loved the show. I am suprised alot of you guys liked it. When I saw the end, I was expecting you guys to think that it was all delt with too easily. I LOVED how it ended(although I am not thrilled about the Spike and the soul business) As much as I loved evil Willow, this was something I would not like to see drug out. It would have turned into a Season 2 rehash (they can't hurt her, then she does something that is the last straw and they must do it) Throughout the whole show and all of last week, noone ever let Willow know that they were there for her. Every comment was "Willow this is wrong" or "Willow you're destroying your life". Xander's "Willow I love you" was touching and him telling her he would be there for her no matter what was what she needed to hear and the only way it could end...I would have been pissed if it would have taken them a whole year to do that. Alot of people say this was a weak season and I couldn't disagree more. Everything in retrospect happened exactly how it needed to to make this show all the more important. The little argument Giles and Willow had, Dawns whining, the importance of Anya turning demon again, Tara and Willows break up, all played in majorly and helped make the season come to gether. Willow the drug addict is now undeniably the best way to deal with the Magic thing. Alot of people didn't like the addiction thing, but in the end, you have to admitt that it made the story all the better.
Guest Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Yeah, good points Ripper. Everything that had been building up over the season just came together in last night's finale. When I first heard that Whedon wasn't writing and directing the episode, I was like "What the hell!" But David Fury and the others pulled this one off perfectly *standing ovation* who the fuck watches buffy? hahaha Um, a lot of people. It has been critically acclaim for years now. Hell, it was on TV Guide's list of best shows ever.
Guest Risk Report post Posted May 24, 2002 Whedon mostly just did work for seasons 1-4, although I think he wrote the final Glory episode.
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 Joss wrote and directed only one episode this past season, the stellar "Once More With Feeling" (the musical). Last season, he did "The Body" and "The Gift" (this is the last Glory episode you are referring to). How he didn't get nominated for an Emmy for "The Body" is beyond me. Incredible writing and direction in that. I'm pretty sure he did "Family" as well.

Guest Ripper Report post Posted May 24, 2002 He ususally only does 3-4 episodes a season any way...except season 2. He did quite a few that year.
