From what I've heard, this novel will be similar to the old Fleischer Superman cartoons (with modern elements added). I'm looking forward to it.

I think DC usually uses real cities anymore, unless its a hero's home city established in the Gold or Silver Age.

It all depends on the writer. Some like the fake citites while others like the real ones.

 

The funniest name that I've ever heard for a DC city: Science City.
