Guest Report post Posted May 22, 2002 BACKSTAGE TURMOIL AT RAW by Dave Scherer Updated: 5/22/2002 3:36:20 PM A story began to make the rounds yesterday that Kevin Nash and X Pac threatened to quit at Raw this week because they did not like their storyline. I heard conflicting stories, so I wanted to get the facts before posting a story on it. Here is the scoop, which came from a number of people. Sources say that when Nash and Pac showed up at Raw, they were told the general outline of what they were going to do that night by one of the agents and didn't much care for it. They then went looking for Vince McMahon to talk it over, but Vince was busy working on the Austin-Guerrero segment with the talent. Pac and Nash ran into a writer (I believe his name is Ed Coskey) and told him that they didn't like what was planned for them and weren't happy with the segment. At that point, Pac reportedly told Coskey that he quit, got his bag and left. Nash, who by all reports did not do anything remotely close to quitting or threatening to quit, then briefly talked to Shane McMahon. He then went after Pac to bring him back inside. Nash brought Pac back. Pac talked to Jim Ross, and that part of it blew over. From what I was told by a few different sources, they never "rewrote the whole segment" to appease Nash and Pac. Instead, the two sat down with Brian Gerwertz and took the basic outline that they had for the segments and fine tuned them, which is what usually happens at a show anyway as talent often gives their two cents on helping with the booking of their air time. From what I heard, they told Gerwertz what they didn't like about the segments and helped him with the actual wording and such of the finished promos, but nothing was changed from the basic plan that the creative team had going into the show. Then, as is always the case, the finished promo went through Vince McMahon, who approved it. Even when Vince is not close by, he is always accessible via cell phone. So, it's not fair to say that the two made the WWE knuckle under to them because it didn't happen that way. Major props need to be given to the Undertaker for showing what a locker room leader truly is. He suffered some form of hip and/or sciatic injury during the opening segment of Raw on Monday, when he did the bit with Rob Van Dam. Backstage, Taker was told that he shouldn't work and he could have taken the night off, but he didn't want to do that. Instead, he worked in pain and did his best to get Rob Van Dam over. You have to be impressed when someone leads by example.

Taker's injury probably gives the WWE a good enough reason to job him RVD or someone else at the KOTR. He probably won't work many matches until then so, match quality should be up to. Guest Report post Posted May 22, 2002 I read a Taker interview from wwe.com which was done before RAW, I believe. Anyway, Taker said his hip popped back out of place on him during his match with Hogan (LMFAO! Just thinking of the two old guys wrestling and having hips pop out of place and broken ribs is funny) So, Taker was hurt/Sore before he even did the first segment with RVD in the beginning of the show. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted May 22, 2002 So, Taker was hurt/Sore before he even did the first segment with RVD in the beginning of the show. He still pulled off a pretty decent performance in his match with RVD. Taker is notorious for his bad hips so I wasn't surprised when I read that. He is just a hard worker I guess. Guest Report post Posted May 22, 2002 I wasn't dissin' him. I was giving him his credit. I just thought it was funny with the hip and rib thing. Reminds me of the Billionaire Ted Skits
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted May 22, 2002 That's great of the Undertaker and it's nice that people respect him, but all the respect in the world can't mask the fact that Undertaker sucks. He can't wrestle anymore and his promos bore the living fuck out of me. I can't remember the last one that I watched in its entirety.

Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Taker's promos are a little bit too long and dragged on these days but his in ring work is a solid as it has ever been. I enjoy his matches from now as opposed to the older matches because he is moving a lot quicker today than he used to. His matches were all just Taker getting beat and no selling the offence for the first 5 minutes of the match.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted May 22, 2002 So if Taker is injured, does this mean there is a legit chance RVD could become champ? or will HHH interject himself? I know what I'm betting on...
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted May 22, 2002 It's just a hip injury that he is going to try and work through I think. He'll probably get off doing house shows for a week or two
Guest Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Worst, Hogan wins it back. Then, Vince beats Hogan for the title at KOTR.
Guest Report post Posted May 22, 2002 Then Vince will declare the title vacant and put it up in a 6-pack challenge featuring HHH, Hogan, UT, Austin, Jericho, and Mark Henry. Guess who jobs here? Angle will be busy jobbing to Maven and Mark Henry will be opted over the less talented and less over RVD. I don't know why I said this, it just seems like such an awesome idea.
