Davey boy smith's heart failure...

Recommended Posts

Guest Downhome

The following is from 1wrestling...

"The Calgary Sun has reported that the British Columbia regional coroner feels that Davey Boy Smith's heart failure was brought on by steroid use.  That is the preliminary report, and more should be known after toxicology reports come back in three weeks."

...note that 1wrestling didn't "simply report this", but instead they got it from another source. This is just horrible, and I hope that this makes others realize that steroid use is NOT a safe option. If Davey Boy Smith, one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, can die by this, then there is no one who is invincible when it comes to the effects of steroid use.

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

I don't think anyone was really in any doubt about steroids being responsible for his premature death, i'm sure drug abuse also wrecked his personal life as well.

Does anyone know if his death would be from too much steroid use in the past, or does that mean that he was still using up until he died.

I am sorry for passing along reported information on someone's death. I thought it could prove usefull in future discussions you had here, as it would allow for more specific talk about this subject. Trust me, I'll refrain from doing so in the future here, as apparently a few of you didn't appriciate it.

Sincerely,

I didn't expect you to be shocked, of course not. I wasn't shocked myself when I read it. I was however appriciative of 1wrestling for passing along the information to me, as it now removes any doubt as to what really happend. I didn't email them scoffing at them, telling them they shouldn't even have reported it as it was so obvious in the first place...

...so no, I didn't expect for anyone to be shocked at it, but at least appriciative of being told finally since it has now been reported.

I was not shocked as well. However I will be shocked if it is from steroids and steroids only. Smith was known to do a ton of other drugs (legal and illegal) throughout his career and even after it. It was probrably a combo of stuff. Billy Graham is another person I would be surprised to make it to the end of the year. Graham is a true victim of steroid abuse. Unfortunatley the wwe encourages steroid use by pushing those who use and abuse them quite a bit. It's either that or you have to just about kill yourself by doing crazy bumps and stunts and high risk manuevers. (see Foley, Jeff Hardy, Dynamite Kid, Kenta Kobashi, etc.)

Actually, when I first heard that Davey died, the first thing that came to my mind was a heart attack from steroids.

In Dynamite Kid's book he said that when he had one of his seizures, the doctors looked at his heart. They said the roids made his heart too big, since the heart is a muscle too. He could of died if he didn't stop using, which he did.

I know it sounds mean spirited and makes me look like a cold hearted uncaring prick. But I honestly can't bring myself to feel sorry for guys dying from stuff like this. He did it all to himself fully knowing the risks and it killed him so i refuse feel bad about it.

It sucks for his family and friends and i do feel bad for them. But as far as Davey Boy...if he wouldn't respect his own life and his own body while alive what gives me the right to respect him for killing himself.

Now don't get me wrong i don't like people dying for any reason. I'm not saying that i want all drug abusers to die i'm just sayng i refuse to respect a drug abuser in death if he dies from the drugs or from the affects of the drugs on their body.

However i don't feel this way about Billy Graham. However Billy Graham's case is totally different then the case of someone like Davey Boy Smith who knows that steroids are bad. Graham (like all the older wrestlers) had no clue what the roids would do to his body at the time he was heavily into them. It would be like being heavily into taking some sort of weight trainer "drugs" now then finding out 10 years later that the stuff will kill you.

Cletus: Gee maw, that's one buff son of a bitch on that there TV... why that HHH must be on steroids!

Jesus Christ people, am I going to have to rip new assholes AGAIN on this topic? Just because HHH is ripped DOESN'T mean he's on steroids! It's ridiculous for you morons to even claim that just by sitting on your asses watching him on TV. Just because the man is huge doesn't mean he's on the gas. I've said this before and I'll say it again, there are muscle building drugs out there that are LEGAL and SAFE that do the same job that steroids do. It's called dedication and heavy training. HHH had 6 months to aggressivly bulk up, and for those of you who are going to but in and say "he wasn't that big before he left" then classify yourselves as idiots... it's not like he was the size of Spike Dudley when he got injured.

Now on to the REAL question: Rumors abound that Chris Benoit is fucking HUGE now... but I seriously doubt that any of you are going to bring up steroids in his case... because that would be smarkism blasphemy, taking the name of Jesus Benoit in vain

Hardly anyone bitched when Eddie Guerrero returned to the WWE twice the size as when he left.

Its amazing how so many people on this board find it hard to comprehend that you CAN get bigger WITHOUT the use of steroids. I find myself laughing my ass off at some of the glorified marks on here

Because it didn't slow Crackhead Eddy down like 25 steps like it did to Hunter

Didn't Davey Boy also have problems with drugs at one point?  Namely cocaine?  I suspect that the drugs, roids, and muscle relaxants contributed to his apparent heart failure.
