I got in a couple hours ago from going and seeing the new Transporter. Going into this weekend, I figured 40 Year Old Virgin would still (deservingly) take the box office, whereas this would show up somewhere between 2 and 4, but we'll see on that still.

Anyway, who went out and saw it?

I was pumped, because I just rented the first one on DVD with no knowledge and loved it. This one... was fun. I liked it on the Resident Evil 2 level. It wasn't a good movie, but it was fun. The main difference I saw in this one was that they just went total cliche action movie whereas the first one felt somewhat different.

Long story short, I really liked the first one, this one was okay, not anywhere near the first one, but a fun movie to see if you need time to kill. In comparision, I'd say if you thought the first one was 4 out of 5 stars, this one is probably a 2, but still has a slight mindless entertainment value.

I'm going next weeked since I have a free ticket from buying Transporter on DVD. I don't expect a story at all, just Jason kicking lots of people in the face. If I get a movie of Jason kicking lots of people in the face, I'm happy.

Some movies I expect a story (like the god awful cliche Skeleton Key) while some I just go "well that looks fun".

Sounds like Trans2 falls into the area I was expecting. Great to hear.

I haven't seen it yet, but I I will pretty soon since I loved the first one. I didn't think it would make much at all, and I didn't think for a second that it would be number one for the weekend. I am very happy about this:

I went to see it today, loved it. I'm a big fan of the first movie and Jason Statham, and I wasn't disappointed. Some of the car stunts made me say "oh bullshit", but it was just an actiony, fun popcorn movie. Well worth admission and overpriced Sprite.

Any movie that gives me a ton of Jason Statham is aces with me.

I just saw this tonight with the girl and my little bro tagging along. I like Statham and love the first movie (well, the stunts, not the convuluted plot), but this wasn't as good IMO. The stunts felt less, well, organic and they went way overboard. I still liked it, and thought there was still some nice fight scenes and a few good nods to the first movie ("I'm the cook" and the motor oil).
