Guest Report post Posted May 23, 2002 This-is-the-official-prevew-for-WWE.com SmackDown! kicks off from the BankcorpSouth Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, this Thursday on UPN! This past Sunday at Judgment Day, Hulkamania took a major blow when the Undertaker defeated Hollywood Hulk Hogan to become the new WWE Undisputed Champion. On RAW, rumors were running rampant that the legendary Hogan was contemplating retirement, and, apparently, the buzz was true. The Hulkster will end his 25 year career this Thursday on SmackDown! when he gives his farewell address. More fallout from Judgment Day will also be in store on UPN, as Triple H and Chris Jericho will be making their first television appearance since competing in their brutal Hell in a Cell Match. Also, Kurt Angle will be in the house to show the world his new haircut, courtesy of Edge! As always, expect the unexpected to happen when WWE lights up your TV. You can't miss SmackDown!, this Thursday on UPN! Check your local listings for time and channel!
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted May 23, 2002 I think i'll skip it tonight and watch Raw is Owen instead.
Guest Report post Posted May 23, 2002 I'll watch it. I had been watching Survivor the last couple of weeks instead of Smackdown, but now that Survivor is over I'll go back to watching Smackdown. A couple of the matches sound interesting. I want to hear how the crowd responds to HHH vs Lance Storm.

Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted May 24, 2002 I am watching it up here in Canada, where it comes on an hour early. So far, the two matches I have seen have been rather interesting. This show is not that bad tonight, surprisingly.

Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted May 24, 2002 HHH gave Storm a lot in that match, and even limped up the rampway, selling the beating he took. Decent match. Christian could be a millionaire with all that singing talent he has there (or not, but hey).
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 DAMN! If-HHH-can-job-to-D'von, Why-can't-he-job-to-Lance-Storm,who-is-a-hell-of-a-lot-better-than-D'von.
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 The crowd was surprising alive during that match. HHH made Lance Storm in that match. They could probably start moving Lance storm to upper midcard now after that.
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 I fondly recall the time when Storm beat Albert for the IC title...and the crowd popped. It was small pop, but it was a pop nonetheless. Good times....
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 FINALLY they have a new Cruiserweight Belt! It looks pretty cool, too! ...AND Chavo busted out an EMERALD FUSION~! NICE!
Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted May 24, 2002 This headgear angle is a total ripoff of a World Class angle in the Early 80's with the Von Erichs and the Freebirds. Whats next? Are Edge, Maven, and Val going to challenge Lance Storm, Christian, and Angle for the six man title at KOR?

Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted May 24, 2002 I live in NY, pretty close to Boston. I never got preempted for a Red Sox game, but a few times for the Bruins. Fuck the Bruins in their stupid asses.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted May 24, 2002 Things seem pretty quiet in the Smackdown thread. I actually kind of enjoyed Smackdown this week. Hurricane v. Chavo was pretty good, and I enjoyed Test v. Orton, and Angle/Christian vs. Edge/Maven. Sure, D-Von v. Rikishi sucked it, and Jericho v. Mizark was a yawner, but the show was better than I expected which is all I can ask out of Smackdown.

Guest bcu1979 Report post Posted May 24, 2002 Well, I could only sit through 100 minutes of the "Triple H is God" show before I turned it off in disgust. The non-stop verbal blow job HHH got from Cole and Tazz during his match with Storm was nauseating. But that interview backstage took the cake. The guy was practically fawning over Triple H as he talked about how awesome he was. And then Triple H blew off Jericho like he was completely beneath him after making him his bitch once again. Notice how Jericho put over the beating Triple H gave him in all his backstage promos. But Triple H only put over HITC and paid no respect to Jericho. It was like July of 2000 all over again. Jericho came across as just another of the many dead Smackdown characters during his match with Mark Henry. I especially loved how they are now portraying Jericho as an idiot too. The announcers kept hyping on how Vince was such a genius he could easily manipulate Jericho into doing what he wanted. What was the point of that? It's just a complete waste. Randy Orton looked his best since joining the WWE. Too bad they had to treat him like a jobber as well. The tag match was pretty good, even if Angle is back to playing a comedy character. Guest goodolemr Report post Posted May 24, 2002 Evil Owner Vince McMahon is doing the opposite of Evil Owner Ric Flair. Evil Owner Vince McMahon is forcing Hogan not to retire. Evil Owner Ric Flair won’t let Austin wrestle.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted May 24, 2002 I noticed that about Jericho too. If he and Vince are so tight why was Vince playing him for a fool. It doesn't make any sense. Mark Henry was better then I thought, but it was basically a squash until Jericho got the chair. Who knows were Jericho is going, but it looks like anywhere but the Main Event which is a shame. Jericho is exhibit A in the case against HHH's politics. Angle was awesome tonight as well. It's too bad he probably won't be doing anything since he is going to the Olympics. His mic skills and matches continue to be the best. How Maven got into that spot I'll never know. If Maven can get into a feud with a main eventer like Angle but Jericho is stuck in mid-card purgatory then something is wrong.

Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 I'm really trying to see the positives. RVD & Eddie getting pushes on Raw. Lance Storm, Christian & The Hurricane getting pushes (albiet microscopic) on Smackdown. But it all just feels too little too late. It's going to take a miracle to reverse this slump the WWwhatever's in. Vince & Undertaker beating up Hogan in the main event interview is not that miracle. Must. Try. Harder. Guest notJames Report post Posted May 24, 2002 Let me get this straight... Triple H gives a "gutsy" performance and goes over clean against Lance Storm, a top notch technical wrestler. Jericho is made to look like a weak baby and barely ekes out a win by using a chair against the not-over, ineffectual "power" wrestler Mark Henry. Angle, the obvious MVP of the WWWhatever, is beaten by "rookie sensation" Maven, who hasn't proven himself to be either a draw, an interesting character, or anywhere in Angle's league. And once again, Hogan is put in the spotlight in another fake retirement skit, made to be the centerpiece/mainevent of the entire show, and when the payoff doesnt come and he stays on, half the audience cheers like lemmings and the other half groans "This is never going to end"... Way to build up new stars, Vince...
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 24, 2002 I was really pissed to see Lance job to HHH and Maven challenging Angle... other than that, up until Jericho and Mark Henry (even though it was technically the "main event" and Jericho almost made Henry look good, it's still not befitting him at all) it was a pretty good show considering what's been around lately. Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 Who knows were Jericho is going, but it looks like anywhere but the Main Event which is a shame. I honestly hope that Jericho packs his bags when his contract is up. As much as I love watching him perform, he's just being treated like crap where he is now. Hell, he'll have enough money to be more than secure. He can retire. Tour the Japanese leagues. Or concentrate on FOZZY - who really kick ass, IMO.
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 Another thing that annoyed me was the finish to Triple H's match. Battered and bruised from the Cell, Triple H is pretty much getting his ass handed to him by Storm. Yet all it takes is a slip-up off the top rope and the fucking Pedigree to put him out for good? One "counter" and one move. Give me a fucking break. Talk about perpetual idiocy. This is SHITE!
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted May 24, 2002 he he. Smackdown was pretty good but I doubt anyone was watching...
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 If Maven can get into a feud with a main eventer like Angle but Jericho is stuck in mid-card purgatory then something is wrong. You're only looking at it one way, though. Why can't you say that Mark Henry (as much as I hate him) is in a feud with a main eventer? By using your logic, you might as well say Angle and HHH have both been depushed and are stuck with Maven and Test in "mid-card purgatory", although I like that term.
