Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted May 27, 2002 I just bought X-Files: Season 5 for $99 at Suncoast. Good deals abound, if you know where to look
Guest EQ Report post Posted May 27, 2002 I go to Suncoast all the time... although I can never bring myself to buy anything there b/c of the prices. Seeing as how I have a Best Buy within walking distance of the Suncoast, it's not that big of a deal for me to head over there. Have you guys ever shopped at FYE? They're overpriced too. Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 27, 2002 FYE = overpriced AND bad selection, making it worse than Suncoast in my book. You're much better off with a big discount chain like Best Buy or the ultra-godly Media Play.
Guest EQ Report post Posted May 27, 2002 Media Play, really? For whatever reason I never figured Media Play would have good prices on DVDs. I'll check them out next time instead of Best Buy
Guest Report post Posted May 27, 2002 The only good thing I can say about Suncoast is if you need to special order something. If seen stuff that I couldn't get on Amazon but they could so it was worth paying $5 more.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted May 27, 2002 Media Play is pretty good. Overall (movies, CDs, etc.) they've got the best selection of any store.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 27, 2002 Media Play's prices tend to be about the same as Best Buy's, or maybe a buck higher on some videos, but they've got a MUCH better selection than Best Buy does.
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted May 27, 2002 Its funny, Suncoast is associated with Media Play, so any replay points you earn, you can use it towards Suncoast, Sam Goody, Media Play & On Cue. Might as well join, trust me, its worth it. Dames

Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted May 28, 2002 what are replay points? --Rob Let me break it down for everyone, so you guys can make your decisions. The Replay program is a program offered by Sam Goody, Suncoast, Media Play & On Cue and the points earned can be used in any of those stores. Every "Point" is the equivalent to one cent. Therefore, if you buy a movie that comes out to 27.98 after taxes, you get 2798 points during that transaction. Every 10,000 points and you get a 5 dollar gift certificate in the mail, so roughly every 100 bucks. Now, it doesn't sound like a lot, but you can earn points VERY easily, not just with buying shit. It costs 7.99 to join the replay club, and for joining, you automatically receive a 5 dollar gift certificate (sent to you in the mail). On the day you join, you automatically recieve double points for anything purchased on that day. When I joined, I bought the Die Hard SE trilogy box set, which was 59.99, so I recieved roughly 120,000 points, or a 10$ gift certificate. Shortly after you join, you'll recieve your replay card in the mail with your intro gift certificate. In order to put points on the card, you need to present it to the cashier at the time of your purchase. Your friends can use your card and put points on it too, so just because your name is on it means nothing. Like I said, you dont have to always purchase 100 dollars worth of shit to get points. About once a month or so, they have "triple points weekend", which means that anything you buy during those days, the point value you receive is tripled. So, a DVD that ends up costing you 25 bucks = 7500 points each. Also, certain movies give you extra points regardless. For example, a movie that was a new release about 2 or 3 weeks ago occasionally will have a sign that reads "2000 extra points".....which will be awarded upon purchase of said movie. As a matter of fact, this month, they have another deal. Spend over 40 bucks, earn an extra 2000 points...over 50, 5000 points, over 60, 10,000 points. I've earned over 65 bucks worth of gift certificates since I've joined, mostly due to purchasing Sopranos & Godfather box sets during triple points weekend. If anyone has any further questions, just ask. Dames

So get the two disc sets while you can. Don't forget that Fox is also "reissuing" their discs in Full-frame, and taking some of the widescreens out of print. WTF? At least give people a choice... damn Fox.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted May 30, 2002 Luckily, I'm broke 80% of the time and by the time I save up enough money the SE of whatever movie I want is out. But I got fucked royally on the Prophecy. It didn't even have a trailer! Next time I'm at best buy, Halloween, Evil Dead BOTD SE, and maybe the Usual Suspects SE are mine (I might rent USSE cause I haven't seen it yet)
Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 I was kind of disappointed in the Prophecy disk being movie only, but I really like the film, and the quality of the widescreen transfer is amazing, so I can't complain. Same with the recent Silver Bullet DVD.
Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 The way I look at it is if the Special Edition don't have anything that I REALLY want to see then screw it and I will just buy the normal edition for 10-12 bucks instead of 17-20.
Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 That shit happened to me when I bought Platoon, I was going to buy it early but then I thought, I'll wait the special addition comes out. I waited almost a year I think and then finally bought it any way. Then what do you know, special edition hits the racks at Media Play, like a week after, darn the luck!, darn, darn!
