Guest Report post Posted February 13, 2002 In WCW along time ago I heard they had a wrestler named Boss and it got them sued by WWF???? Who was the Boss and where is he now??????
Guest MasterMadness Report post Posted February 13, 2002 The Boss was current WWF "star" Big Boss Man. I don't know if they ever went through with suing, but they thought his name and gimmick too closely resembled his WWF one.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 It was a BIG rip-off of his WWF trademark. It was clear to everybody WCW was pretty much using the same gimmick only with the name "The Boss". I think the WWF did sue WCW until WCW stopped using the gimmick.
Guest Kagato Otaku Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Yep. They had Nick Bockinkel strip The Boss of his name, nightstick, and cuffs because of some offbeat shenanigans he had with Vader & Harley Race. Easy way to give up the gimmick without it being just plain dropped. Traylor then became the "Guardian Angel", and wore a funny red beret and didn't use weapons because he was *ahem*... a Guardian Angel. This ticked the real Guardian Angels off, and he was stripped of this gimmick as well. He eventually reverted back to Big Bubba Rogers, hitman-for-hire who was deathly allergic to rabbits. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 After "The Boss" gimmick was taken away. He got a lot of sucky gimmicks and would never be the same again until going back to the WWF. Although, he did beat Sting.
Guest MoneyIvezaj Report post Posted February 13, 2002 the Guardian Angel was one of the worst gimmicks I've ever seen
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 How did WCW get permission to use "The Guardian Angels" name for a wrestling gimmick? Did they throw out money just for that?
Guest Dark Lotus Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Don't forget the brief time he was just known as "The Man" as well. If I recall correctly (and this may have been kayfabed, I dunno), Ray Traylor actually had to go through GA training with Sliwa before he was allowed to use the gimmick.
