What's the story behind Lanny Poffo beating Hogan on

an edition of SNME in '89?

How did Hogan ever agree to this?

I mean in about 2000 matches with Poffo's brother, Hogan would never ever consider taking a defeat.

Wasn't it a countout victory? And wasn't that when Curt Henning stole the belt and destroyed it?It's been sooo long

Poffo won by countout. And I belive that was indeed the time Mr. Perfect destroyed the WWF Title.

I'm not sure how Vince talked Hogan into losing by countout to the Genius.  I guess Hogan knew that it was for furthering a storyline that he was ultimatly going to win.

It was just Before the RR 90 and Hogan was feuding with Hennig who was managed by the Genius Lanny Poffo.  It was probably just a way to put more heat on Perfect by having him cause Hogan to lose to a manager and destroying his belt.  I specifically remember Hogan cutting a promo while wearing the broken belt (which may have become the Hardcore belt) and then replacing it.  I'm not sure if Hogan and Perfect ever had a blow off match or if Hogan eliminating Perfect (who drew #30) from the Rumble was it.

I know Hogan & Perfect wrestled some matches at MSG, but I don't belive they ever had a blow off match.

They had a SNME match,I don't remember when where Hogan got a clean pinfall,I'm not sure if it was a blowoff match or not

I remeber matches between them with Hogan kicking out of the Perfectplex but I don't think there were clean finishes.

Does anyone know why they didn't have a big PPV blowoff?

I think Hogan had something to due with it. I heard Perfect was going to get a run with the title, but Hogan blocked it. Just like Hogan veto Perfect's 1990 Royal Rumble match win. Hogan won the Rumble that year.

I heard somewhere that the main event of WrestleMania VI was at one stage meant to be Hogan vs Perfect.

But we ALL love Hulk Hogan.....sigh.

That depresses me....maybe we would have seen Mr. Perfect as champ back then, like it was meant to be :(

In case anyone forgot, the person who ended Mr Perfect's streak was none other than good ol' Brutus Beefcake. Hogan could have just had a blowoff match with Perfect at Wrestlemania 7 instead of having his buddy go over PErfect and end his streak. If Perfect could have gone into Wrestlemania 7 unbeaten against Hogan, I think they could have legitamately played Perfect up as a threat to Hogan since Perfect would have been unbeaten. Either that or just give him the belt like they should have done with Rick Rude.

I have a Coliseum Video Tape called Immortal Hulk Hogan and they have a match where he beats Mr.Perfect(cleanly)on WWF Saturday Night Main Event.

Thanks.

Vince wanted to do Hogan vs. Zeus at WM VI (6). Thank God that didn't happen. Perfect would of been a good threat to Hogan, but Hogan pulled some strings.
