Guest Redhawk Posted May 24, 2002 Report Posted May 24, 2002 I've been going to McDonald's for years, and my friend pointed out to me the other day that you get charged extra for getting your order "to go." I looked on my receipt, and sure enough, there was a 56-cent "Take-out tax." Has anyone else seen this? When did they start that? And why? I know those bags can't cost THAT much.
Guest Invader3k Posted May 24, 2002 Report Posted May 24, 2002 Hmmm...I have never seen this...then again I don't usually get a receipt when I go to McDonald's. I'll have to check next time I go there (which really isn't that often). Anyone else see anything like this? It seems pretty ludicrous that they would discourage people from using the drive through.
Guest starvenger Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 I've never had that happen. As far as I know the prices are consistent inside and out.
Guest EQ Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 LOL... wow that is so rediculous. Did you complain?
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 Yep, I've noticed that take-out tax on McDonald's slips. I've also noticed a dine-in tax on some other ones. The times I felt like asking what this tax was for, the manager in charge didn't look too capable of answering my question. All in all, it's probably just another way the government wants to take from your wallet...
Guest alfdogg Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 They didnt have it in Indiana last time I went.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 25, 2002 Report Posted May 25, 2002 they only do it because they can.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted May 26, 2002 Report Posted May 26, 2002 the one i go to most has a dine-in, but i just say to go...and go sit down anyway what are they gonna do...arrest me for tax evasion
Guest J*ingus Posted May 26, 2002 Report Posted May 26, 2002 Redhawk, kkk, and shaved bear, what states were they in where they charged this tax?
Guest redbaron51 Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 maybe its in the states, but i'm not too sure its in Canada.
Guest J*ingus Posted May 27, 2002 Report Posted May 27, 2002 I can tell you they don't do it in Tennessee, so it must be a state or county tax and not a federal one.
Guest dreamer420 Posted May 29, 2002 Report Posted May 29, 2002 i'm pretty sure they charge in BC Canada.
