CanadianChris Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Oklahoma/Texas could be an interesting game, just because there are are so many expectations and so much pressure on Texas to finally cut the Sooners' heads off, especially in front of the home fans. Plus, OU should be inspired for this game unlike any other game on the schedule. Does anyone think Ohio State/Penn State will be competitive?
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 What's the over/under on Damaramu coming in the thread and complaining about USC?
sfaJack Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Oklahoma/Texas could be an interesting game, just because there are are so many expectations and so much pressure on Texas to finally cut the Sooners' heads off, especially in front of the home fans. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Cotton Bowl is split 50/50 between OU/UT fans. It's hardly a home game. And though I've supported him pretty faithfully in the past, Mack Brown should resign immediately after the game if they lose again. Texas is in total control of their fate at this point and they probably won't have a better shot to get to the national title game. If they blow this...forget it.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 This will be the time when I want OU to win. I don't want Texas's overrated ass anywhere near the title game.
CanadianChris Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 The Cotton Bowl is split 50/50 between OU/UT fans. It's hardly a home game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah, yes. I forgot this was the Red River Shootout. All I saw was, "Oklahoma vs #2 Texas."
Edwin MacPhisto Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 What's the over/under on Damaramu coming in the thread and complaining about USC? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're worse than he is lately and you're ignoring his posts anyway. Give it a rest so the rest of us don't have to deal with it. As much I'm glad to be able to watch Virginia play BC, I'm a little disappointed that I probably won't get to see any of OU/Texas as a result. Our two affiliates here always show the same games even though their regional coverages overlap. The game I'm most interested in is UGA/Tennessee. Georgia has been the quietest of the SEC big guns to this point--no big losses, no big wins--and I'm eager to see what they're actually holding.
Slayer Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 This will be the time when I want OU to win. I don't want Texas's overrated ass anywhere near the title game. Seconded, though I always root for OU in the RRS anyway... This time though I want OU to win so UT drops from #2 and pushes up VT (provided they win), which makes Slayer's g/f very happy
therealworldschampion Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Concerning the RRS we're damned if Texas wins because Dama will pimp them for the Rose Bowl, and damned if OU wins because I can see Dama on here going all Jim Ross-like with "SOONERS!!! SOONERS!!! SOONERS BAH GAWD!!!" OSU/PSU should be a good one. If PSU wins they're in the race for te Big Ten title.

It's like you complain about me but then try to say as many things as possible to make me go over the edge. Sheesh. Anyway if OU wins I probably won't have much to say b/c I'll be in a state of utter shock. Although OU's confidence is really riding high after the KSU game. They'll do what they usually do to Vince Young. Shut down the running game and force him to throw. Unfortunately Ohio State showed us that that plan of action doesn't exactly work anymore. If OU wins then Mack Brown has to admit that Bob Stoops has his number. If Texas wins then it's kind of bittersweet. Yeah they finally beat OU but it was their best team in years beating OU's worst team in years. I just know I'm going to get a prime spot at the bar on Saturday and enjoy what hopefully will be a better game than it has been in recent years.

I'm not coming in threads to complain about ESPN's treatment of USC or about how USC is going to lose this year or anything like that. Nice try though.

They CANNOT lose to Oklahoma this year with the type of team they have.

Stop baiting, the lot of you. 85% of my posts here, as well as most other folk in these threads, are about Tennessee (or whoever their favorite team is). I hate Florida with a passion and talk shit about them constantly because I DON'T LIKE THEM. They're very talented, and a great team, but fuck 'em. Do you see Florida fans getting on me every time I post? Nope. "Oh, but you don't go on and on and on like he does with the..." and I'm not listening any more because all I see are flapping gums on people who can't let shit drop. The rest of us are trying to have some degree of discussion about this most magnificent of all forms of football and it's starting to impinge. Dama, stop reacting, assholes, stop baiting. It's the 2005 season now. Act like it.
Slayer Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Dude what is it with all you people trying to draw me into going crazy? What is it with you getting drawn into being crazy... or something? [/joke response, not serious or baiting, so stfu]
iggymcfly Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Big win for Troy tonight, as they end North Texas's 26-game conference winning streak and take the driver's seat in the Sun Belt. I would have lost money on it, but luckily I bet the halftime line as well, which North Texas just bately covered. For the record, Troy didn't really look that good at all. Their passing game was so poor that they completely abandoned it in the second half, and their running game wasn't that great either. They wouldn't have even gotten a TD if North Texas hadn't muffed a punt.
Guest I miss Test. Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 That College Sports TV station is fun. They show a lot of games I'd never dream I'd see on TV. No MAC games this week, though.
iggymcfly Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 The game I was talking about was actually on ESPN. They'll give anybody a national TV slot if they just agree to play on Tuesday.
Damaramu Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I heard this thing on ESPNews today that basically said if the RRS was close towards the end of the game that OU will win b/c Texas will think "oh god not again!" and start making mental mistakes.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 That makes a lot of sense. College players do tend to lose their cool and discipline pretty fast, especially if it comes to something like this where Oklahoma's had their number for years. I'm, of course, stuck with any bullshit Miami's doing rather than watching the potentially awesome Cal/UCLA game.
iggymcfly Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Not as long as you have cable, you're not. Cal and UCLA are playing on TBS.
therealworldschampion Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Dama did you happen to catch the 100th anniversary special on Red River Shootout on ESPN Classic? If you haven't I suggest you do, it's quite good.
therealworldschampion Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 I heard this thing on ESPNews today that basically said if the RRS was close towards the end of the game that OU will win b/c Texas will think "oh god not again!" and start making mental mistakes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They're right. The first 15 minutes of the game is going to tell a great deal. If Texas comes out and marches up and down the field on Oklahoma, they should win comfortably. However, if Texas comes out and plays sloppy, giving the ball away, it will lead to them becoming tight and that's definitely an advantage for Oklahoma. This isn't like the Rose Bowl or the Ohio State game for Texas in which they could go out and play loose because they were considered a sort of underdog, this is against a school and a coach that has pretty much owned them this century. Texas has to go out and play well to win this game. If they do, they should win.

If you haven't I suggest you do, it's quite good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't have ESPN Classic so I missed it..... I'm going to settle in at Buffalo Wild Wings on Saturday though and get myself a beer, a big plate of nachos, and some chicken strips and enjoy the game.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Damn, that big boy hoss sure love ta eat.
Art Sandusky Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 JR's barbeque sauce is what lures them most.
Damaramu Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Damn straight. You gotta have the essential football bar snackfood.
Vern Gagne Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 So the Gophers can either embarass themselves on national tv again, either by getting blown out, or letting Michigan drive the length of the field and scoring the game winning TD.
nogoodnick Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 Damn that was a dissapointing ending for Georgia Tech. On the 3 yard line GT's Reggie Ball throws a good pass to WR Calvin Johnson and he bobbles it into the hands of an NC State defender for the loss with 30 seconds left.
