Outkast - Aquemini

what do you think are the standout tracks on this album? i think it works really great as a whole, but aside from "rosa parks" i have trouble pointing to enough knock-you-on-your-ass songs to qualify it as the best.

So many, I think.

Return of the G

Rosa Parks

Skrew It on the Bar B

Aquemini

Da Art of Storytellin' (Part 1)

SpottieOttieDopalicious

Liberation

Chonkyfire

Plus, in a rarity in rap, the skits are pretty entertaining and/or add something to the songs they're sandwiched between.

Most of the good ones have been mentioned, but I'm surprised by the lack of Liquid Swords.

Oh yea, that is an awesome album. Can't believe I forgot that one.

Anyways, some newer additions

Meat Beat Manifesto-Subliminal Sandwich

Aphex Twin-I Care Because You Do

Merzbow-Music for Bondage Performance #1

Depeche Mode-Ultra

I think one of the reasons no one named Liquid Swords initially is that the first Wu-Tang album is still better than pretty much anything Wu-related that followed it. Lots of the solo albums are really good (and Liquid Swords is one of the best), but Enter the Wu-Tang is unstoppable.

Although not many peoples favourite album, I think OK Computer is easily the best album since 1990.

As a work of art, it's unmatched.

Guest Agent of Oblivion

I've rediscovered Nasum's Inhale/Exhale and love it more than ever before.

Very scathing and destructive.

Wow, I finally listened to ATLiens. It's probably the best Outkast album I've heard, and I have all of theirs apart from their debut. The only other contender would be Stankonia.

Jeff Buckley-Grace

Pretty much the one album I continue to listen to on consistant basis because the theme and element of the album is always surrounding my life.

I think that's Pitchfork's number 1 album of the '90s, so it can't be that odd of an opinion.

It was originally Loveless but they swapped the placing of those two albums when they revised the list a while back. The reasoning for the switch was pretty dubious, but I ultimately agree with the result.

Yeah. It wasn't a particular song, but I remember listening to Radiohead's The Bends one day towards the end of high school and thinking about halfway through "Just" "why the hell do I own a Dave Matthews album?" It was promptly sold.

There are a handful of songs I can stand, which is weird since I hate most of that particular genre. Sentimental value I suppose.

Not my personal favourite, but one that doesn't get enough love (I don't think Pitchfork placed it even in its 100, and no one seemed to care) is Achtung Baby by U2. Just a great pop rock record from start to finish. Or just pop record, if the term 'pop rock' illicits too many bad images.

Loveless is still my favourite though everyone seems to cream themselves over it anyway.

Agreed. I feel if I attempt to rate a different album at the top, I'm just stretching.

Here's my top 10 in alphabetical order.

-Radiohead's Ok Computer

-The Dead Milkmens' Not Richard, But Dick

-Belle & Sebastian's Tigermilk

-Belle & Sebastian's If You're Feeling Sinister

-Pulp's This Is Hardcore

-Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral

-Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes

-Stone Temple Pilots' Core

-Jeff Buckley's Grace

-Bjork's Post
