Guest Brian Report post Posted May 26, 2002 I'm pretty sure he's wrestled against TAKA. I donn't have a bunch of RAW and Smackdown line-ups, so I can't tell. AngleSault, do you even watch any cruiserweight wrestling?
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 26, 2002 AngleSault, do you even watch any cruiserweight wrestling? I try not to.
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 26, 2002 Well, then you probably shouldn't comment on something you seem to know very little about. Ignorance is bliss.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 26, 2002 Just because I try doesn't mean I'm successful. It's like a car wreck. Even though I find it repulsive, I can't turn my head away.
Guest caboose Report post Posted May 26, 2002 Is that how you look at yourself in the mirror everyday?
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 26, 2002 So you try not to watch it, but still watch parts of its through on obvious bias, than make vast generalizations about a product you can't assess indifferently.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 26, 2002 I've seen that *stupid* triple backlfip into an armdrag to know that it is in the majority of cruiser matches and it serves NO point.
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 26, 2002 That's a really poor assessment. First thing, the "triple back flip into an armdrag" usually serves a purpose to transition from big man to finesse in a match. Second, I wouldn't even say that move happens in half the cruiserweight matches. Of course, there is a purpose to that move most of the time when it's used most of the time. If you want to criticize the style, you're goig to definately need to see more of it and understand it better.
Guest Report post Posted May 26, 2002 I've seen that *stupid* triple backlfip into an armdrag to know that it is in the majority of cruiser matches and it serves NO point. Well not to cause an argument with my new best friend or anything... but if you were to use that reasoning, then technically it's pointless for Kurt Angle to perform a moonsault when he can get the same affect just by splashing his opponent off the top rope. The Cruiser's do these flashy moves because, although they may not be wrestling, they look cool and SOMETIMES can get the crowd pumped. It's just a different style, like luchalibre, puro, hardcore, straight technical, brawling etc...
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 26, 2002 My point is, if you are going to go through all that flashy shit, end it with something semi-convincing.
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 26, 2002 Like WWF style punches?
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 26, 2002 But seriously, look at it this way. Same basic psychology as a WWF match. If Angle wins ten matches in a row with the moonsault, is he going to use it every chance he gets. Or a little simpler, if the only way Jericho can counter the all powerful Undertaker is by working the knee, is he going to try something else. Than why would a finesse wrestler who can't overpower him opponent try to trade shots, hard blow, strikes, powere moves, with him. He's at an obvious disadvantage. He's at an obvious disadvantage. I just don't see why it has to end in the softest looking move possible. would it be that hard to flip and hit like a DDT instead? Guest Report post Posted May 26, 2002 For Brian, I remember Tajiri being in WWF in mid-late 97, but to my knowledge he was never in WCW. And, even if he was, that's not the point. Al said he and Kidman feuded over the CW title in WCW, which is definitely untrue.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 26, 2002 Just call the meaningless flipping 'dare-devil' psychology. These guys are so little that they know they are not going to get over on what the big guys use to get over with, so they have to step it up a couple of notches to get noticed. Why doesn't Kurt Angle try to hit his ankle lock ASAP in his matches?
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted May 26, 2002 "Al said he and Kidman feuded over the CW title in WCW, which is definitely untrue." Was Al maybe talking about WWF owned "WCW"? That's the only way his comment would've made any sense.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 26, 2002 Didn't the Hurricane block the Handspring Elbow one week earlier on SmackDown!. Maybe I'm worng, but I remember that happening.
Guest Report post Posted May 26, 2002 Tajiri was in the WWF in '97, competing under Yoshirio Tajiri, he was in the original lightheavyweight tournament for the belt.
