Guest JerryDrake Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Now this isnt a Test bashing thread, but i think Test needs some more seasoning down in OVW or HWA, and maybe while Test is down there the workers can get him a personality.
Guest Y2DAYDAY Report post Posted February 13, 2002 I disagree. He isn't a great worker but his work is good enough for the big time. He just needs to get a good persona. If he is going to do the "Once you've had Test, you forget about the rest" character, he has to improve his acting for it to get over.
Guest nwawildsidemark Report post Posted February 13, 2002 test is a guy who should be kept in wwf and pushed-he's a younger, more agile version of nash
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted February 13, 2002 He's just so boring. Beyond that, he's another victim of a creative team with a short attention span, in that his character seems to change on a weekly basis. It would require a tremendous amount of effort on the part of the WWF to just get the guy over again, and it really isn't worth it when you have tons of guys on the roster who can draw fan reaction on their own merit. I wouldn't go so far as to send him to HWA or OVW, but I'd definitely consider him "Jakked" fodder and nothing more.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Test needs a character. He's not the best wrestler in the world, but he could probably do something useful. Plus, he's friends with Shane, and is dating Stacy Keibler.
Guest Y2DAYDAY Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Test is a better version of Nash but Nash is a better interview and has charisma, 2 things Test doesn't have. And it looks like Shane McMahon isn't working creative anymore so he isn't really around to help out Test politically as much as he used to be.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Shane doesn't need to be around to help Test. If you're a friend or dating a McMahon. You'll always be favored a little more than others.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 He is kind of boring but it is a offence that sucks. Doesn't it seem like he was a much better wrestler back in 1999 then he is now.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 I thought he was better in 1999. He had good storyline, IMO. He was over too.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Hey, remember when Test had immunity & couldn't be fired for an entire year? Or when he was coming on to all the women in the fed? I bet the writing team doesn't...
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 As far as "big guys" go, they could do a lot worse than Test. I think he's a decent worker for a guy his size. His main problem is that he has no charisma--if you're going to be some kind of wannabe ladies' man, you need to do more than deliver a couple of good lines in backstage segments. He should play to the crowd more, showboat a little, taunt ringside fans as he's walking down the ramp, etc. I'm surprised he doesn't do any of these things. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Ha! Yeah, the writing team probably forgot Test has immunity. I hope they do an angle where Test gets suspended just so people can say "Logic gap".
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Some people on the old board posted some good ideas for dealing with Test and his immunity. Like having him & Christian do a Diesel/Shawn Michaels thing, where Christian was the little obnoxious brat and Test was the guy who destroyed everyone because he couldn't be fired. This takes care of both a storyline for him and the charisma problem. Just have Christian be his mouthpiece.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Report post Posted February 13, 2002 The WWF has no sense of continuity anymore it seems. They like to give guys like Test new characters every other week, never allowing them the chance to fully get the character over. I don't know why the WWF hasn't realized that doing this doesn't work, and even if you give a guy a simple character trait like Test had when he was a pervert, it can work. WWF fans boo Gunn/Palumbo because they're heels that have character. If the WWF had them act gay, then had them going after Trish Stratus the next week, they'd be saying "Huh?" Same thing with Test. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted February 13, 2002 If they have to push a big guy, push Albert. He is a lot better than Test.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Albert's one of the last people I want to see get a push. I don't mind seeing him wrestle, but as a personality, he's even worst than Test. I mean, Test is marketable. Given the right personality, that is. But Albert is average in height (6'6"), and seems destined to be an undercarder for the rest of his career, which hopefully will not be that long.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Albert? Oh god please no! Anyways Test.......yeah I bet they have an angle where someone threatens to fire him. And he doesn't respond with "I got immunity" he goes "Please don't!" just because nobody in the WWF can remember half of what happened last week.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted February 13, 2002 I'd also rather see Albert pushed than Test. Not in his ridiculous Hip Hop Hippo form, but as a monster heel who destroys everyone in his path. There are no good monster heels anymore. Albert is a pretty scary looking guy naturally, so it's not like they'd have to dress him up or anything. The problem would be that he's already been made to look too vulnerable, so it'd be a pretty hard sell to get the fans to believe that he's suddenly unbeatable. Much the same reason why Big Show will be mired in the undercard for the rest of his career.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted February 13, 2002 When T&A was together it was painfully obvious that Albert had more talent than Test, better mic skills than Test, and more charisma than Test. People just don't like him because he looks funny. Besides he had a good match with Kane back in June. I'd can't see Test doing that.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Umm.....I liked the Test/Kane match from No Mercy. It wasn't half bad.

Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Albert is just stuck with bad gimmicks. I'm not a big fan of his, but if he got repackaged...then I think he could go somewhere.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Report post Posted February 13, 2002 Kinetic, there aren't really any monster heels anymore because they no longer seem to work. Now, I wouldn't mind a monster heel character sort of like Waylon Mercy (in the sense that once the bell rings, he goes crazy on everybody, and when the match is over he's a good guy), but the WWF doesn't seem like they'd ever do anything as creative as the Waylon Mercy gimmick was when it premiered in 1995. Also, with the WWF Booking Team... 3/2/02- Albert destroys Crash Holly and Edge during their match on Raw. 3/9/02- Spike Dudley gets a surprising win over Albert. Wrestlemania- Spike Dudley gets another "underdog" win over Albert. Albert's character is effectively killed. I'm not going to say Albert as a big heel wouldn't work, but it would have to do right. Guest Kinetic Report post Posted February 13, 2002 They'd have to do a massive overhaul, and I really doubt the creative team is willing to make that sort of commitment. Thus, we have a guy who was born to play the role of monster heel spelling the word "Worm" with his arms on a weekly basis.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 14, 2002 Kinetic, you're right. The creative team would have to put a lot of commitment to repackage Albert. The best they could probably do is re-name him "Hip Hop Heel".

When the image of white rappers (Hey, it was 1994 or so when the gimmick started), it sucked. And not many remember this, but Too Cool were originally going to be heels (as they interfered against The Hardyz in a match), but Brian injured himself, and the WWF just forgot that it had ever happened come the next week. Guest Kagato Otaku Report post Posted February 14, 2002 God knows hip-hop heels suck. Then why'd he create Public Enemy? They were funny in ECDub with Heyman writing their stuff, but in WCW they were pretty worthless. Of course it didn't help they jobbed to the Nasty Boys every chance they got and received New Dorito's Brand jerseys. Then the WWF destroyed any chance they had of getting over by saying nobody liked them 'cause they're ECW, before giving them the pink slip after the Acolytes handed them their collective asses. " They were heels when they returned too. They teamed with the Hollys against the Ex-Brood at Survivor Series. A week or so later they turned face and joined up with Rikishi. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 14, 2002 God Damn, this is like a meaty fast ball right over the plate. Why Test should get off TV. 1. He is not over. The fans just do NOT care. It's like they don't know who he is. 2. He is an awful character. 3. He is a really bad actor. Nothing worse than a really bad actor with a Canadian accent, eh? 4. He is just AWFUL in the ring. Kane/Test was laughable. And whether you like it or not, Kane was the better wrestler there. Kane can have good matches with good workers. Test can't. 5. People just like Test because he's Canadian. Don't deny it. He's roughly on par with Billy Gunn is terms of ability. Yet Gunn gets bashesd and Test gets praised. Brings new meaning to "Oh Canada, we stand on guard for the" doesn't it? 6. All I hear about the Clique is bitch bitch bitch, pushed their usesless friends, bitch bitch bitch. WHAT THE HELL IS SHANE DOING WITH TEST?
