Or are the refs shooting for close games.  They aren't really favoring any team more than another, but it seems that if any team in the conference finals has a big lead, the officiating becomes ridiculously one sided.  Case in point, game one, Celtics/Nets.  The Nets had the game easily, then came one quarter of no calls for the nets that allowed boston back in the game. Game 2, the Celtics have wiped the floor with the nets...then comes the no calls when the nets were hacking the Celtics that allowed them to get back in the game.

Now game 3, there was some bad calls for the Nets, but that was no excuse.  You can name the huge no calls (like Walker grabbing Van Horns shooting hand on that big 3) but they shouldn't have been that close anyway.

No lets go to the West coast....I just watched game 4 of the the Kings/Lakers game aka lets tackle Mike Bibby 2, which all but guarentted the game would be close...just like game 3 in which when we saw the original lets tackle Mike Bibby.  The lakers were victims of the horrible officiating in the game 2.

It doesn't seem to be bias towards one team or another in either of the series, but it looks more like they are trying to manufacture close and exciting games instead of letting it happen.  Besides the game 3 of Nets Celtics, all the big leads that have been blown in the conference finals have been in part due to bias officiating.  At least, thats what it is looking like to me.

I don't think it's manufactured, but there seems to be a bit more leniency for the home side in these semifinals.

In the end though, the Kings couldn't corral the rebound, and Horry made them pay.  I just hope that this isn't a turning point in the series - I really don't want to see the Lakers in the finals again.

Yeah, the refs didn't make the Kings miss so many free throws, and they had no control over the cluth shot by Horry, but definately helped the Lakers get so close.  I am watching them rerun the game on NBA.com TV right now, and it is obvious that they are body checking Bibby so that he can't get the Kings offense set.  It isn't even questionable no calls, if you allow the Lakers to do that, then they can't win.  Just like they were allowed to body check Kobe in game 2.

you WILL see them in the finals again, and you will probably see them win the finals.  i'm kind of looking forward to seeing them v. boston, that would be the perfect underdog situation.

on a totally unrelated note: one thing that really pisses me off about basketball is that there never seem to be any underdog champions (at least when i've been watching).  please: somebody, ANYBODY, beat the lakers.

If anything, they want each series to go the maximum so the NBA could make more TV money. I would believe that. For example, if Boston had gone up 3-1, the chances of a 7-game series is slim. But now it's tied a 2, and odds are better for a Game Seven.

Yep..I think both series will be going 7 games, wether they like it or not.

The NBA is faker than professional wrestling.

I have a suspicion that both series are going 7 with LA and Boston coming out on top.  If this happens me thinks we've been worked.

I am in total agreement about that. The NBA would love 2 game sevens on Sunday. But the refs can only do so much about it. They can only give you calls, they can't make the baskets for you. They can turn the tide however and try to make it a nailbiter with their influence and then let the players decide in the finale who is gonna win.
