Normally I'd laugh at the prospects of USF in the BCS, but I'm not sure how this would affect U of L's bowl standings. The Gator Bowl is practically spread eagle for us, but if fucking USF upsets WVU then it might knock WVU down to the Gator and U of L down to something truly hideous like the Meineke Car Bowl.

I think USF is actually BETTER than WVU, which is why I was the first to panic about them in the BCS. WVU basically screwed U of L in that game, even the Big East admitted it. USF flat out took U of L out and threw them down a flight of stairs. 2 of USF's 3 losses have been to Miami and Penn St. If WVU played those teams they would lose as well.

Hopefully it all turns out and U of L gets Miami again in the Gator. We owe those fuckers and might not get the chance next year since Miami is trying to back out of coming here.

Texas is already putting a hurting on Texas A&M. 14-0 in the first quarter.

But Vince Young is handing the ball off to get those TDs. Vince! You have to do it yourself! Gotta get those Heisman stats! You can't improve your stats by giving the ball to a RB!

So I watched some of the Backyard Brawl last night and I realized why I don't give much respect to WVU. They're just a gimmick team. They just run. That's it. It's like watching gay ol' Nebraska. Now, if you can put up 450 yards doing that, good on you. But when they finally have to play a balanced, stout defense--of which the Big East has exactly zero--they're going to get railed. I guess they belong in the top 15 just because they're a one-loss team and they did beat Louisville. I dunno. Although the talk of Louisville getting screwed is getting a bit tired, Cabbageboy's dead-on in assessing WVU's out-of-conference schedule as compared to USF's. Penn State probably would have beaten them worse than VT did.

They won't blow the game. It's a rivalry game. You all like to harp on how it makes a difference no matter how good or bad the teams are.

Once again though this board is hypocritical. If USC has a come from behind win on the road it's "championship caliber" and "proving why they're #1".

If Texas does it it's going to be "Well they weren't that good" and "Well they're chokers. They aren't good."

If this were wrestling USC would be mega-heels.

Vince's offensive line isn't helping him at all. So he's sending Reggie Bush the Heisman trophy as a christmas gift.

I don't care who the games were against the board is hypocritical when it comes to all sports.

It's a rivalry game. Everyone harps on it as anything can happen and they use it as an excuse to defend their teams when they do bad against less than stellar competiton. So therefore Texas should get the built in excuse as well. Or is everyone that hypocritical too?

Will you ever drop the persecution complex? Wow sports fans are hypocritcal. GET THE FUCK OUT! Why do you care so much? If Texas loses, they choked flat out. If they win, close or not, and win next week they are going to the Rose Bowl where they have a realistic shot becoming undisputed national champs. Stop caring what the hell a wrestling message board thinks about what a close game means for Texas as compared to USC.

Well all the USC love pisses me off b/c it's almost like people are trying to create something. USC's accomplishments speak for themselves. But with the way they're shilled by ESPN you'd think they get no respect at all by the fans. ESPN is trying to give Bush the Heisman. It's very obvious having Salisbury go on an NFL show and mention that Bush is up there with Shaun Alexander and LT. That's such bullshit. The NFL players are some of the best in the world and Bush isn't in their league at all. But if you listen to ESPN he's played 20 years in the NFL and won multiple Super Bowls.

Meanwhile you have Vince Young who is carrying the Longhorns. Without Young they would've lost 2 games this season. And ESPN is like "oh yeah. that guy."

Hell if you listened to most of ESPN and the USC fans they've already stomped Texas and won a 3rd national title.

USC has enough weapons to survive without Bush. He's only able to achieve the jaw-dropping feats b/c everyone's so damn scared of the rest of the offense. Take away his weapons around him and you will have a situation just like AD is facing this year.

I still don't get the whole "Sooner rooting for the Longhorns" thing, it's like a Yankee fan rooting for the Red Sox...

Exactly. It'd be like me (a Denver fan) rooting for Oakland. It doesn't work. Only two things can come of it: either your hated rival chokes and you curse yourself for switching your allegiance, or they win and you feel like a whore.

I've already explained this. Vince Young is entertaining first of all. And second of all Texas is my only hope to shut the Trojans up. Third of all the better Texas looks the better OU looks when they knock off "defending national champion Texas" and win the Big XII. ;)

Wait, ESPN is *not* home of cutting-edge sports analysis?

You're like five-ten years behind on realizing just about everything. Go watch the game because it's a good football game and stop stressing over how well your team's biggest rival does.

You think USC beats ND if Bush doesn't push Leinart into the endzone? Hell, Leinart was crappy in that game, Bush won that game. And no way they beat Fresno without Bush.

Without a doubt. And about that missed Texas extra point: I have a feeling A&M's pair of blown conversions are going to be bigger ghosts. Man, just kick those PAT's and they're about to take the lead, not be a point shy. Going for two is almost never a good idea outside of the fourth quarter.

Don't bother. You're talking to the guy who thinks AD outperformed Bush as a running back.

I didn't say this season. I said overall as a running back AD is the better pure running back. How can you deny how good Peterson is?

And on top of that Bush has got the hype machine behind him so that's another reason people think he's so great. With bullshit like Salisbury putting him up there with Alexander and LT it's obvious what ESPN is trying to do.

You know, I'm going to revise my statement from earlier--this isn't so much a good game as it is both teams trying their hardest to hand it to the other team. A&M has had a pile of gifts, and Texas has had 3 or 4 chances to absolutely put this away, and sloppy play is keeping either team from getting it done.

Sloppy or not, though, still pretty fun to watch.
