Question about a computer?

Recommended Posts

Guest Sykotic2002

I need some help on a computer. Does anyone know if a "Microtel SYSWM4007 PC 1.5 GHz Sempron 2200+" is a good computer? Is it compatible with any type of monitor? Thanks to anyone who could help me out with some information.

What will you be using this computer for?

Judging by your questions... not much, probably. In that case, you're good. And I believe that's in the range of the $300 cheapass computers, so it's probably good for you.

All monitors should work with it.

It's for my dad. He needs a computer to just get on the internet and to type stuff, so he doesn't need a nything real fancy. Just needs it for basic stuff.

Just pick up a used one from somewhere - look in the paper or any local bulletin boards. Buying a computer these days is like buying a toaster, especially if all you want to do is make toast/surf the net.

A used one would be a little cheaper... but, if any problems ensue, then what does he do?

That's not a bad computer for him. Maybe even try finding a cheaper one. Even the cheapest ones in stores today are more than enough for daily basic use.

I have an old 486 that I go online with, check e-mail, write papers with, etc.

If those are your Dad's only needs then this system is more than sufficient.

As stated, the monitor issue is nothing. They're all compatible as long as it's not a Mac monitor.

I'd try looking for preowned machines, but beware some of the moron sellers. They'll post things like "Paid $1,500 asking $800" for some piece of crap that is a decade old.
