Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 It only took about seven years, dammit <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Too bad the programs aren't in their early 2000's form and it isn't for the national title.

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 Am I the only one who would love to see Notre Dame-Auburn in the Fiesta Bowl? They've never met before, and Auburn can definitely bring fans. Auburn also is playing as well as anyone in the country right now. *Looks at picture of FSU girls* Go Noles indeed. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 Adrian Peterson It might stun you to learn that after the High Ankle Sprain from Hell, after 10 yards on three carries against Texas, after minus-4 yards on five carries against Kansas, after not even playing against Baylor, one of the two All-Big 12 running backs is the one and only Adrian Peterson. The sophomore finished the season with four consecutive 100-yard games. He rushed for 237 yards, 210 of them in the second half, in the 42-14 defeat of cross-state rival Oklahoma State in the Sooners' regular-season finale. That half included touchdown runs of 84 and 71 yards, and propelled him to the top in the Big 12 rushing race (1,024 yards in 10 games). In retrospect, Peterson had a very good year. He just did it when no one outside the conference was watching. Peterson has carried 142 fewer times than he did as a freshman, and gained barely half the total of a year ago (1,925). But his 14 touchdowns are only one shy of his freshman total. That's a reflection of the limited options the Sooners' offense had in a season with an inexperienced offensive line and quarterback. What that means is that it might be foolish to begin the 2006 Heisman race as a showdown between senior quarterbacks Vince Young of Texas and Brady Quinn of Notre Dame. The 2004 runner-up will be back. So, too, will the Sooners. From Ivan Maisel's "Whatever Happened To?" on his "For Arguments Sake" column. Maisel usually writes down to the Sooners but I'm glad that he finally gave AD his props.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 1, 2005 Brady Quinn is so fucking overrated. He'll definitely be in it for the Heisman, but Peterson probably is the most deserving out of the three, at least based on past successes (that is, unless Vince continues his development into next year and possibly wins a championship this one)

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 By the way, I am applying to FSU's grad film program...after that picture I think I am making the right decision. This weekend I just want something really weird to happen. UCLA over USC might be interesting but I can't see it happening. Too big of a rivalry game for USC to be napping. Georgia over LSU isn't really an upset I don't think (or at best a very mild one). FSU over Va Tech would be a joke more than anything. That leaves Colorado and Texas to bring the weirdness. What's with the Big 12 North anyway? It just sucks in both football and basketball. In football the South has Texas, OU, and TX Tech while the North has whatever jobber wins it. In basketball the South has Texas, OU, and TX Tech, while the North has Kansas and a bunch of jobbers.

Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 What's with the Big 12 North anyway? It just sucks in both football and basketball. In football the South has Texas, OU, and TX Tech while the North has whatever jobber wins it. In basketball the South has Texas, OU, and TX Tech, while the North has Kansas and a bunch of jobbers. The North has only "sucked" the last two years, attributed mostly to the two top tier programs at Nebraska and KSU falling off the map. Plus don't forget about Colorado, which has won the North four times this decade, along with a conference title in 2001 which they got by beating (dun dun dun) Texas. I know they backdoored their last two division titles, but it's still something to consider
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 Someone at school today tried to tell me that Colorado had a chance and then they pointed to OU/KSU as evidence. KSU was ranked in the Top 15 going into that game. Colorado is not even sniffing the Top 25 right now. And KSU had Roberson and Sproles. Colorado has Joel Klatt. Guest Report post Posted December 2, 2005 And Lawrence Vickers. Shit, you don't even know your own conference.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 My point is that Colorado sucks. When the guy out there driving your team is Joel Klatt you know you're in trouble. When you get blown out by Nebraska at home you know you're in trouble. When you're facing a team in a place where your fans probably won't travel to and they already ate you for lunch once you're in trouble. That's what my point was. There is no parallel between KSU beating OU and the Colorado/Texas game. There's more parallel between OU/Colorado from last year. Although I doubt that Texas let's up like OU did. Guest Report post Posted December 2, 2005 Through prior history including tonight's, I have learned never to doubt an improbable underdog in a conference title game. I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be shocked to see it.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 If one of the unbeatens fall this weekend, who sneaks into the title game picture? and would they fall hard enough to miss out on a BCS game?
Guest Report post Posted December 2, 2005 If Texas loses, Penn State gets in and if USC loses, they probably sneak in. Neither team will lose.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 If Texas loses I'd imagine they would fall below Penn State no matter what. If USC loses to 1-loss UCLA, then it would probably depend on how the actual game goes and what the final score is. Note that USC is the Pac-10 conference champion no matter what happens, so they would be getting punished for losing late in the season rather than early. I'd say for USC to drop out of the title game they would have to put up a terrible performance. We're talking OU 2003 against KSU here.
Guest Report post Posted December 2, 2005 It would have to be worse. The pollsters think so highly of USC that they would have to be shutout 34-0 before they would even consider dropping them to 3rd.
Bored 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 Since it was brought up recently, the "Kansas State rule" where the Top 4 gets automatic bids to BCS bowls apparantly will be dropped next year. So if you are ranked #3 in the BCS next year but don't travel well it could cost you at least $11 million. Yippee.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 Everyone says that ESPN will be on the Notre Dame dick faster and harder than USC could ever dream of being sucked off if ND were to be ranked #1. I don't think it's possible for ESPN to blow anyone more than USC so I want to see ND return to #1 so I can see it.
Guest Report post Posted December 2, 2005 I don't. Let's put it this way. If ND made it to 5th in the country, their hype would surpass that of Bill Parcells coaching the Cowboys, the Laker teams of the last 5 years and USC's national title runs all at once. Guest Report post Posted December 2, 2005 (edited) You really are new to this. Notre Dame probably hasn't sniffed the top 5 since you've been watching college football so I can't possibly provide an example to someone in said situation, because they wouldn't get the whole lore of Notre Dame and that they are prissy bitches who must scrape the Gold off of the chapel next to the stadium and then they must paint it onto their helmets because Notre Dame players only play with real gold. They play with nothing on their helmets but real gold. They wouldn't understand how many movies have been made about the program or how every news writer loves going to Notre Dame Stadium on a sunny afternoon in South Bend. For new watchers, it's tough to understand how they tap a sign in their locker room that states "Play Like a Champion Today", and how they come out onto the field with the fans chanting "Here Come the Irish". Notre Dame is the representation of college football in New York. They have their own television deal with NBC. If you can't understand how these things alone can push Notre Dame's hype up to something you've never seen before, you are clearly dense and have no business watching this sport. And that's not even half of it. Edited December 2, 2005 by Kingofthe909
