Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted May 30, 2002 Travis from blink and dave grohl are great drummers but no one is better than Danny Carey from Tool. Just listen to #8(Ticks and Leeches) on Lateralus.
Guest WildPegasusXXII Report post Posted May 30, 2002 my favorites that havent been mentioned yet, in no particular order: Matt Abts (Gov't Mule, formerly Dickey Betts band) - the best power trio drummer EVER. heavy, heavy hitter. saw him spiderweb a bass drum head two songs into a set back in 99. Only drumer I know that can nail a drum solo 45 minutes into an encore after already playing a 3 hour show already. Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band) - this guy has drummed for almost anyone who ever had a band, but has found his place here...on his first show back from a heart attack, he was still better than 90% of anyone who plays John Molo (Bruce Hornsby, Phil Lesh & Friends) - another monster.but then you have to be to play with Phil Lesh, Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring on a permanent basis Jaimoe (Allman Brothers Band) - a nicer guy than Butch, and better drummer to boot. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted May 30, 2002 Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden is also one hell of a drummer, if you have seen any Maiden footage its amazing stuff on what he does, and since I have pre-ordered my Rock in Rio DVD...muahahaha
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted May 30, 2002 Dee Plakas (L7) Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer) -- when I met Slayer at a record store signing 10 or so years ago, he was the only one whose autograph I chose to get (we were only allowed 1) Mick Harris (ex-Napalm Death) -- not only did he do all kinds of cool shit on the drums, he also provided those screechy backup vocals on their older material. Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Nearl Peart of Rush is the hands down, no competition straight up best drummer, ever (lots of adjectives). I don't like Rush but that fucker is GOOD. Also: Dave Grohl Whoever the guy is playing for the Foo Fighters Danney Carey Lars Ulrich

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 3, 2002 Ringo Starr from the Beetles. Didn't to do much but was consistent and solid. John Bonham is my favorite. Very agressive...Moby Dick is a great drum solo.

Guest Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Lars Ulrich, don't deny the greatness. Agreed, no-one beats Lars Ulrich!!! Except possibly the late John Bonham, one of the finest drummers ever to exist if you ask me. Metal up! This has been the Taker Mark
Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Lars is an average drummer at best, and John Bonham is just a drunk. Great Drummers: Sean Reinert(Cynic, Death, Aghora) Chris Penne(Dillinger Escape Plan) Mike Portnoy(Dream Theater, LTE) George Hurley(Minutemen)-a true pioneer that still gets no recoginition. Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted June 17, 2002 If ya don't listen to Death Metal than no point in reading my opinion, but on pure skills, I'd have to say the drummer from Morbid Angel is perhaps the best I have ever heard.
Guest O.J. Hart Report post Posted June 17, 2002 Wow, can't believe no one's said Chad Smith(Red Hot Chilli Peppers). Also i like Ringo Starr, and Lars Ulrich.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 18, 2002 Lars is an average drummer at best, and John Bonham is just a drunk. Hell what do you expect back in the 70's. Pratically every one who was playing was drunk or stoned, but don't deny that John Bonham is a great drummer.

Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted June 20, 2002 I have a hard time rating one drummer ahead of another. Pretty much any musician could play drums because they've already learned the rhythms. Adam Sandler played drums in Airheads(the actors actually did the performances) and he usually just does some guitar and singing on his albums.
