Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Dave is reporting Heyman, not Hayes and Heyman just Heyman, now has full booking power on Smackdown...of course, everything has to go to Steph/Vince for the final say. I'm glad they did this. Heyman can do great booking, but if they put him in charge of the finances...look out.
Guest Cataclysm911 Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Yes, I saw this at 411 and thought it was good news until the last sentence which read "Stephanie & Vince will overlook both shows."

I'm glad they did this. Heyman can do great booking, but if they put him in charge of the finances...look out. Heyman is not a great booker. He's a great booker in the way Vince Russo was a great booker. Given a little creative freedome while being kept in check, he's wonderfull, but given full power he is like a kid with a toy. Bad things happen. And so on. >>Yes, I saw this at 411 and thought it was good news until the last sentence which read "Stephanie & Vince will overlook both shows."<< The #1 reason Vince's system worked for so long was because he had the final say. I hate to sound like the perverbial smark broken record, but WCW died because they never had a man like that with the final word on everything. If I hadn't read that last sentance, I would be seriously worried over the WWF's stability given what I already said about Heyman and how much liberty the wrestlers have taken lately to chose and edit their own angles lately. I don't like Steph, but if she can keep things in check, more power to her, inexplicable HHH pushes be damned.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Hmm, maybe that means they ARE moving Brock to Smackdown. May as well get accustomed to the show you're writing, and not have to worry about Raw storylines.

Hmm, and I seem to remember a certain obnoxious 411 writer claiming that Heyman is booking Smackdown BECAUSE he only appears on Raw, too.
Guest bcu1979 Report post Posted May 29, 2002 This sounds great in theory but I think it'll be very evident within the first couple of weeks if Heyman really has any power over the content of the show. If Angle and Jericho start getting built back up as legitimate main event heels and guys like Storm, Christian, Val Venis and others start seperating from the midcard pack then maybe Heyman will actually have a positive impact. But if the show revolves around Hogan/Vince and Triple H/Taker with everyone else being portrayed as inferior minor characters, then the only thing's that has changed is that they have a new scapegoat to blame their woes on. I guess I'm in the minority but I would rather Lesnar and Heyman stay on RAW. If Heyman is going to be a tv character, I would prefer it to be on a show he has no "control" over. And who is Lesnar going to feud with on Smackdown? Edge and Rikishi are the only faces in the midcard. I have a bad feeling about putting Lesnar in the same promotion as all the cruisers and many of the WWE's best "small" wrestlers.
