Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 I read from the Smackdown spoilers that it LOOKS as if they might be going with an Angle/Hogan mini feud before they get down to Vince/Hogan... Is it a good idea? Should it have been Jericho instead? I personally think it's a good move. I know most of you want to see Hogan out of the WWE ASAP but I think it's a good way to get Angle back in the upper card spotlight and get as much out of him as possible before he leaves (IF he leaves.) That is... if they give Hogan the opportunity to let Angle go over. But of course, this isn't set in stone. They may blow off a Hogan/Angle match at next weeks Smackdown and go with Hogan vs. Vince at KOR. If I were booking it, I would have Angle over Hogan at KOR... then on Smackdown, Hogan comes out and basically gives a little speech about how "the critics are right. He doesn't have it anymore and it's time to retire. But before he goes out, he wants Vince in the ring" which he gets at the next ppv... they can bill it as Hogan's retirement match. Whether it draws or not is irrelevant. Hogan wins, comes out the next week and gives one final farewell with no interruptions
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 29, 2002 It should have been Jericho/Hogan but they are fucking up everything. Benoit/Austin and Flair/Austin are the only sure-fire things they have left.
Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 As long as Hogan puts a younger star over, I'll have no problem with it. Jericho, Angle, Maven... it doesn't matter to me. Actually... maybe they should go with McMahon first with Angle interferring either causing McMahon to win or almost causing him to win... and the next night Hogan can make the challenge to Angle at the next ppv, putting him over, and then retiring. If I were Hogan, I would want to go out with the best match possible, and Angle sure as hell will bring the better match out than, McMahon... who knows. Guest Brian Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Jericho needs to retire him more than Angle does, especially since Angle's gone by the end of the year.
Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Yeah but that's not set in stone yet... everywhere I read I get conflicting reports. I hear that the WWE is trying their hardest to convince him to stay... then I read that they're working with him, negotiating his rate of pay if he leaves to train... But yeah, I can see where Jericho would need it more
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Hogan will have matches with Austin and McMahon before he's through, and I have a real sneaking suspision that we may see Hogan vs. Michaels in the not-too-distant future. For now though I think a Hogan-Angle feud is the way to go, it's got some built in plot devices to get it off the ground (biggest American hero, etc.). Anyone wanna bet that Anglesault will be begging for the Angle-Edge feud after a couple of 1 star "main-event" matches between Angle and Hogan?
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted May 29, 2002 I agree with Brian - Angle/Hogan would be a total waste for the WWE with Angle leaving for the Olympics. Angle can get over without it - Jericho, however, could really use the extra cred.
Guest Repo Man jr Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Can't wait to see Hogan get the overhead Belly to Belly suplex!
Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 I think Angle could carry Hogan to a good match honestly. Let's face it, the Jericho/Hogan match wasn't a classic, but it was decent and watchable and both guys worked hard. I could see the exact same thing happening between Angle and Hogan
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 29, 2002 I don't think Angle's offense is geared well towards facing Hogan. Even if he is willing to take some moves, as many suplexes as Angle uses.
Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 If Hogan can take an overhead belly to belly, I will have a newfound respect for the guy
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Eh, if the end result is Hogan walks away never to return then I could give a shit who "retires" him. Just get that dinosaur off my screen. And here's to hoping Undertaker is the next one to go.
Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Angle vs Hogan? It's fine by me, as long as Angle wins; preferably on PPV but smackdown is okay as long as they sell it as a big deal and a classic match that just happens to be on free TV (kinda like Hogan vs Goldberg?). If Angle wins, it's cool. If he loses, it sucks and was a horrible horrible bad idea rooted in corrupt politics blah blah blah blah blah.
Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 I can't see Angle vs Hogan being any good cause there's no way Hogan's crippled body will take any of Angle's suplexes, never mind that phat belly to belly from the top that he does now. Jericho, as we've seen, can carry Hogan to a half decent match doing stuff that Hogan is capable of. Plus, as it's been said, he needs the credibility much more than Angle. Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Also, Hogan recently listed Jericho as one of the 3 best workers he has ever faced. (This can't be politics on his part because Jericho has no stroke). Maybe - just maybe - he might be willing to job to Jericho? Their match a few weeks back was half-decent, and surely Hogan is interested in looking good in the ring as much or more as any other guy is.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 29, 2002 I worry that Angle might come out of it looking like a chump if he has to go down to a rudimenatary offense to avoid breaking Hogan's hips, but then I think about how he can take pretty much anyone to a good match, so I look forward to the confrontation. I do think Jericho would have fit a little better since they built a bit last month, and he has been playing an old-school heel, which gels a bit better, but as long as Hogan's facing someone who can put together a good match, I'm happy. Angle's a fine fit.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted May 29, 2002 If Hogan has to wrestle on my TV he might as well wrestle Angle. I see the WWF milking McMahon/Hogan all the way to next year's rumble because there are too many guys who he needs to feud with to get Hulkamania ou of our systems forever, so we can never say " damn, what would have happened if he fought..." (Examples: Benoit, Booker T, Kane, etc.) He needs a bunch of mini-feuds to continue his farewell tour where he finishes strong with Vince at the Rumble and the big money Austin/Hogan match at WM where he retires. Speaking of matches I wanted to see, how the hell would Goldberg/Savage looked? I think they would have beat the shit out of eachother.
Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2002 Well this could work as I have faith in the olympian to carry the old man to a good match. If and thats a BIG if hogan was to loose to angle at KOTR (if they even fight at KOTR) then I could see angle having more bragging rights. Toward the end of the year, if he does leave he could use some excuse such as "I did it all here, won almost every major title, won KOTR, and I beat the legend Hulk Hogan so I have nothing left to do here" and then leave. Have the conquered pro wrestling attitude. But come on, in 3 ppvs that Hogan has been on hes won only 1 time, I doubt he will loose again but I hope he does. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 29, 2002 I hear that the WWE is trying their hardest to convince him to stay Oh, it REALLY shows. ----------------------------------------------------------- Scene: Kurt in a room, surrounded by Steph, HHH, Vince and Shane:: Vince: Kurt we REALLY don't want you to leave for the Olympics in December, so we have a few plans to keep you here. First, we'll have you feud with Hogan and feed you to him at King of the Ring. Kurt: That sounds great, but uhm... Steph: And then you storm out on the next smackdown, and DEMAND a rematch! HHH: But-uh I come out-uh and challenge you to a title match-uh! Steph: And after 6 minutes of fast paced action, Me, Jericho, Benoit, Daddy, and Stacy will all run in! Kurt I think I see where this is going... HHH: And then-uh, I fend them all off-uh, and Pedigree you for the win-uh! ::Poses, spits water:: Kurt: Yippee. Shane: After that, you come out on the next SD! and admit that you can't beat HHH, so you are entering the Tag team divsion! Kurt: But Shane, who would my partner...Oh shit. Shane: And Test would come out, offer to be your partner. You to would team until December, always coming THIS close to winning the tag titles, until Test turns on you and beats you one on one at the Royal Rumble! Kurt: Uhm, guys, do i actually get a win in this scenario? Vince: A WIN? Dear Boy, you are elevating new stars! ::The whole room burts into laughter as Kurt sneaks out and makes his Olympic training official.:: __ Anyone wanna bet that Anglesault will be begging for the Angle-Edge feud after a couple of 1 star "main-event" matches between Angle and Hogan? Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 I'm surprised Angle isn't feuding with Test or Mark Henry by now. Isn't it funny how we were joking about how Henry would be feuding with Angle a few months ago, and now Henry really is feuding with Jericho?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 30, 2002 "::Poses, spits water::" Hey...thats my gimmick for posting HHH speak.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 30, 2002 I don't think Jericho is really "feuding" with Mark Henry. It's just filler. If he is feuding with him and being buried I would expect to see some outrage over HHH feuding with a jobber like Lance and a heat killer like Test. BTW, the little roleplays are unfunny. Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 A feud between Hogan and Angle will show the world once and for all that Hogan CAN and will bring the best workers in the world down to his level. However, if Kurt can somehow get a good match (with limited moveset mind you) out of Hogan, then he shall replace Benoit as your God.
Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 If 56 year old Ric Flair can pull a better match out of Hogan than Chris F'ing Jericho, than it's possible that Angle can also pull a good match out of Hogan Of course, there are wrestlers... and then there is Flair. The guy's in his own league, and even if he wrestles into his 60's he'll most likely be able to put on better matches than 75% of the upper level roster
Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 bigjig, I agree with you. Flair is GOD!!!!!! --Rob
Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 You're very right... Flair is GOD. It amazes me how freakin' young he looks too. It seems like he's been looking younger and younger as each month passes... not to mention the guys getting a freakin 6 PACK so it's obvious that he's hitting the gym more frequently now than years. At 56 years old, that's just amazing
Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 Honestly, and I know people will disagree, but I would enjoy one more run with the belt. Him and austin would be the shit, great wrestling and great interviews and in the end, he passes the torch. I know it won;t happen but I still would love to see it. --Rob
Guest Report post Posted May 30, 2002 I think almost everybody here would've rather seen Flair get the title instead of Hogan. God knows Flair deserved a "nostalgia" run more than Hogan, considering Flair still has the ability to actually put on good matches
