Guest JHawk Report post Posted May 31, 2002 What in the hell? BOTH women got the contracts? What in the hell? And LINDA got a fucking contract? What did she do to earn it besides have an attitude and the persistence to use that stupid "Hot Sexy Mocha" gimmick? I won't bitch about Jackie winning the contract, because being willing to stay after that injury, she showed the heart and will to be there. Linda didn't show me any charisma or in-ring talent, and even in her acceptance speech, she said she wants to be successful "in anything I ever do". Doesn't sound like she really wants that life and that career. The guys have to feel completely hosed. My only thought is that they couldn't make up their mind between Jake and Kenny and went "The guys will get there if they want it, give it to the women." Kenny was given the compliment that he makes everybody else look better. Jake has the athletic ability and the look. Linda had none of that. Comments? Guest muswp1 Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I'll just bet that in the next day or so we will find out that one or both of the men got developmental deals anyway. Jackie I can't argue with because she could have dropped out and no one would have blamed her. Linda is Nidia all over again. I will also be willing to bet that Jackie will be going to get knee surgery soon (if not already) and will be unavailble for about six months.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I'm not watching it (TV's taken). Do you mean that two girls got contracts and NO guys did?

Guest chirs3 Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Now... correct me if I'm wrong... Weren't there supposed to be a male and female category? From which one would imply that there would be a winner from each?
Guest Luke Michael Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I thought it was in the contracts that a guy and girl had to win. I was happy when Jackie won as a surpise but Linda winning is stupid. Kenny or Jake would have been such a better pick.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted May 31, 2002 They said they were giving two contracts- never said one boy, one chick.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted May 31, 2002 On the other hand, how many Maven/Randy Orton types do we NEED on TV? If we're going to have a male TE alum, I'd rather it be Chris Harvard to run in and beat the shit out of Maven. As someone else said, the guys will probably get a developmental deal anyway. The women's division could use a bit of padding out. (though where's Nidia?)

Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted May 31, 2002 The contracts are only for a year anyways so if Linda is really bad then we won't be seeing her. If Chris Harvard, and Matt got contracts then odds are that Kenny and Jake will get them too.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted May 31, 2002 What was the guys reaction when they found out that neither of them would be getting a contract?
Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 The guys reaction? Twas not pretty. Kenny more or less cried like various forms of woman. Jake on the other hand seemed more shocked than anything. Probably that part where Stacey went "Jaaaaa...ckie!" Big bastard was half out of his chair when he heard that first part. On a related note, i'm still betting it did say "Jake" and poor Stacey just isn't the best reader on the planet. Okay maybe not.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Jake mad. Jake look like he want to kill. They'll both get developmental contracts...Jake admitted himself it takes him a while to learn the ropes, so some indy work could do him good, and with that look - no way the WWE passes on him. Kenny has the wrestling skillz, but his size screwed him in the end...too small for the WWE. Did I hear right, or did Snow say that Chris Harvard got a developmental contract? I missed that, but then Chris starts bagging on Maven, saying he earned his shot, it wasn't given to him.
Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I was almost expecting Maven to run in and confront Chris Harvard about it....And I thought that was complete bullshit too about both women winning it..I always said well the LAST person out of the 4 people chosen I want to win is Linda...And once again the WWF fucks me over about giving me what I want!!!!!!!! FUCK YOU WWF!!!!! In all due honesty, I wanted Jake and Jackie to win, wouldn't it have made sense??But then it might have also looked "Racist" sicne it would mean both the white people won, but I'm not even being racist here..When Tough Enough 2 first started, I was expecting Linda to be cut after the third week, and here she is with a WWE contract. I will now go to Calgary to train so I can work my way up and poersonally maul one of them in the ring...

Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I dunno, Linda and Jackie both seemed like good choices to me. Kenny seems like he has the heart to keep plugging away on the indy circuit, and so does Jake. BTW - was that Jake's boyfriend next to him, with the bleached goatee?
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted May 31, 2002 "BTW - was that Jake's boyfriend next to him, with the bleached goatee? " LOL, I doubt if Jake is gay. That was probably a good friend.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I'll bet it was his brother...besides...He also looked better then Jake did. However, Jake never went partying with the guys and I never saw him with a girl. However, Linda is gay. A teacher my wife works with had an affair with her about 3 years ago... Guest y2jailbait Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Dont you think its a bit hypocritical off WWE to give contracts to people who didnt win the competetion? Sure some may deserve it and all, but the show talks about making it all the way through and paying dues and stuff, and they give developmental deals to men and women who didnt even make it through the show. Also, Damn Linda been working her arms since TE ended. They were huge. When Stacy was standing there shocked (and played it off nice) and asked if this is right, I thought they were gonna pull a swerve and say someone like Hawk or someone from last season. Well I wasn't gonna go here, but since somebody mentioned the r-word anyway, I might as well come out and say it... Anybody think Kenny didn't get picked cuz they didn't want 2 black people to win? I don't really think so myself (cuz I knew Jackie was winning, and kinda wanted her to win for that matter), but it did cross my mind when I 1st watched the show. Sure some may deserve it and all, but the show talks about making it all the way through and paying dues and stuff, and they give developmental deals to men and women who didnt even make it through the show. Well, maybe I'm comparing apples and oranges, but how many times have guys won a "#1 contender match" to earn a title shot at the Pay Per view, and then some other scrub gets a title match BEFORE the guy who earned the big one? This sort of thing happens all the time in wrestling. Besides, it'd be dumb to just make your first round draft pick and quit, since that inconsequential scrub you took as an afterthought at the end of the draft always turns out to be the biggest and best addition to the team anyway. You pick the tough enough winner based on who looks like the best, most TV-friendly "winner" to encourage further entrants in the next tough enoughs, and you sign up all the people who are really going to make it. And as far as the race card, isn't it kinda weird-funny how people would be more likely to think it "racist" to vote out Kenny and Linda in the finals than had they been cut earlier on (like what happened to both the black dudes in T.E.1?) It's pretty obvious that Jake has the look they want, and he was sort of the "star" of the show (I watched the marathon, or at least part of it, yesterday). Maybe they don't want him to win so that they don't have to bill him as "the winner of tough enough", but keep him under wraps and give him a gimmick that's a real "winner" in a year or so when everybody's forgotten about the people who didn't win tough enough (like what they seem to be doing with Harvard Chris)? Cuz I tell ya, "The Guy Who Won Tough Enough" gimmick ain't gonna get anybody very far.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted May 31, 2002 People who don't win the whole thing and still get developmental contracts don't get the same deal. Harvard did not get the exposure Maven has gotten. Hell, they've pushed Maven hard. Matt, I think Greg, Chris Harvard and Jake won't get that exposure that comes with actually winning the TE trophy, but they still have a chance. Perfectly acceptable if you ask me. Guest papacita Report post Posted May 31, 2002 And as far as the race card, isn't it kinda weird-funny how people would be more likely to think it "racist" to vote out Kenny and Linda in the finals than had they been cut earlier on (like what happened to both the black dudes in T.E.1?) Um...no. For one, Darryl (sp?) and Shadrick, from what we could see on TV, had no talent (not to mention Darryl's bad attitude on top of that), therefore there was really nothing we could do to argue these cuts. And you KNEW they were cutting Darryl's ass from day one, so there's absolutely no argument you could make there. With Kenny, let me clear one thing up, I'm not accusing TE of being racist, but on all accounts, the man was a good worker who made people look better, while Jake, despite having the look and what not, was a slow learner in ther ring. It looked like, to me at least, Kenny was a certainly gonna get the title, and when Jackie got announced as the final winner, even though I wanted her to win anyway, in my mind it was just like "WTF?!" Thinking back, I'll admit to a little bit of racial bias, because when Linda got announced as Champion, I thought it would be cool to have two black TE champs, which is probably why the "racist" thought even entered my mind in the 1st place. But seriously, as far as Kenny and Linda compared to Shardrick, Darryl or even that other guy who got cut at the beginning of TE2, talent-wise, there's no comparison. Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I can see a future event Jackie vs a Female wrestler... then all of a sudden Jake comes out of no where and attacks Jackie beating her down..then Al Snow comes down and the two start pacing and teasing a lock up...then Brock Lesnar comes out and Beats down Al Snow and Paul Heyman announces the teaming of Jake and Brock LOL
Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 But seriously, as far as Kenny and Linda compared to Shardrick, Darryl or even that other guy who got cut at the beginning of TE2, talent-wise, there's no comparison. You're right on the talent assessment. I didn't mean to suggest that the two black guys from T.E.1 didn't deserve to be cut early on like they were. Darryl did have a foul attitude and the Shadrick guy just didn't get it. They deserved to be cut early. I just think it's interesting that it would seem/look more "racist" to the eye of the general public for two black people to get all the way to the finals and then not win than if all the black contestants were cut early on. Because it seems to me that IF there was a racist policy in T.E. and/or WWE (which, let me clear this up right now, I am NOT suggesting there is, in fact I sincerely doubt that's the case) that they would cut all the black people early on, probably with a token white person (who likely legitimately sucks) thrown in just to cover it up. What I'm trying to say is that if the WWE/Tough Enough decision makers were racist (which I doubt) and didn't want two black people to get both the contracts, then wouldn't they have eliminated them (Kenny and Linda) way before the finals? And that I find it odd that probably nobody would even think to cry "racism" if they were cut early on, but might think "racism" if they made it to the finals only to lose out. Guest Risk Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Even though I hate the words "white" and "black" when referring to races(since we are all mixed and there is proof that we all descended from an African woman)I'll play. Maven isn't "white", he's the first generation child of a man with dark skin and a woman with lighter skin. I believe the term is "mulatto," at least, that's what the dictionary said. So I don't think it is REALLY racist, although I do think race IS a factor in TE.

Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Personally, I think it was smart of the WWE to pick the two girls. If Jake or Kenny would have been picked they would have been burried behind a long list of stars in similiar positions. Or one of them would have been pushed ahead of more deserving superstars. Neither of the two in my opinion looked like anything special when compared to the vast potential Harvard Chris and Josh from last season seemed to show. The only thing Jake had going for him was his look. As for the race issue, you can gurantee that was a factor. You can be sure that the WWE and MTV didn't wanna deal with any messy race issues, especially if it had been Jake and Jackie who would have won. It's just sad today that we have to "race paint" everything instead of judge people by their abilities.
