Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Ok, I need to know some heavyweights. Some good under rated wretslers that could make it in better feds. I'm not talking indies but sleaze. Thanks.
Guest Stuart Report post Posted May 31, 2002 The sleazy indies? There's quite a few, mostly juniors, who could make it on a bigger level. - Asian Cougar (free). Master of the legdrop, very good flyer with a refined moveset. - Daiyu Kawauchi (KAGEKI). Kind of a mix between a heavyweight and junior, has worked Toryumon. Some nice moves, nothing special, but he's a decent undercard guy. - GENTARO (DDT). Kind of does a Bret Hart gimmick now, wearing pink. Another guy who can really go and knows how to work a match, rather than an assortment of spots. - Kazunori Yoshida (Eagle Pro). This guy is incredible. His matches at the Eagle Pro tournament were mind-blowing. He showed such big league fundementals and ability. I need to see more. There was another Eagle Pro guy on the same tape, who faced him, who also ruled. - Makoto Miyazawa (Free). Doesn't wrestle as much anymore, but very fun little shooter type, reminds me a bit of Murahama. Had a cool match with Kitahara at WAR anniversary show a couple of years ago. Formerly called Ni Hao. - Masahiko Kochi (SPWF) - MIKAMI (DDT). One of the best flyers anywhere, he does a Jeff Hardy daredevil gimmick, but smokes Hardy in all departments. Very talented, graceful in the air, some incredible spots. - Takashi Sasaki (DDT). A less spotty guy, very fundementally sound, good kicks and ground skills. Just an overall solid wrestler. - Tomoya Adachi (ZIPANG). Saw him on the Eagle Pro tournament, he rocked. He's so balanced on the ropes and does a bunch of freaky stuff, T2P-esque in some ways. Seems kind of a big guy too. - YUJI KITO (IWA Japan). IWA is sleazy, but I'll include these anyway. He's a small Ikuto Hidaka lookalike, who does a lot of brawling. He'd be a real good Death Match guy. - Yukihide Ueno (IWA Japan). Already proved himself under his real name in FMW, Battle Ranger in FMW, MPro and WAR, and Policeman in Osaka Pro. There are other guys. Look closely and you'll find some diamonds in the rough on the small Japanese indy scene, because although the training systems pale to those of bigger promotions, they still have a similar upbringing (black tights, Boston crabs, etc.). Guest Stuart Report post Posted June 1, 2002 Eagle Pro Cruiser Class Tournament was a small (sleazy) indy junior tournament. Unlike the U.S. indies, you don't find ten J Cup-esque concepts every week in Japan, so it's cool when junior tournaments pop up. This was as you'd expect, but had a couple of surprises, several really good matches. I think dietbutcher.com has the tape and match list.
