Big Ol' Smitty Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 http://inthefray.com/html/comments.php?op=...&pid=0&sid=1533 Batman fights al-Qaeda In the weird mélange of reality and fiction, Osama bin Laden will follow in the footsteps of Hitler when he takes on Batman in the upcoming Holy Terror, Batman! graphic novel. The core of the plot is simple: Osama bin Laden, the curiously elusive al-Qaeda leader, charges America with being the “Great Satan” that peddles a culture seeped in aggression and pornography (and the recently released images of torture at Abu Graib jail that occurred in 2003 will hardly damped the fervor of such accusations), and then attacks Batman’s Gotham city, which is modeled on New York City. Frank Miller, the author of Batman, sees no shame in propaganda, and he recently stated at a comic book convention that “It is, not to put too fine a point on it, a piece of propaganda - Batman kicks al-Qaeda's ass… It just seems silly to chase around the Riddler when you've got al-Qaeda out there.” The earliest possible publication for the Batman comic featuring Osama bin Laden will likely be next year...
ZGangsta Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 This is either the worst or the best idea of all time. I havn't decided yet.
Masked Man of Mystery Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 I guess it depends which Frank Miller decides to show up
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 Osama hides in a cave, bats live in caves. Who are you to doubt the Batman?
2GOLD Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 Osama hides in a cave, bats live in caves. Who are you to doubt the Batman? He'll bat-a-rang your ass if you do!
The Amazing Rando Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 "Batman can find Osama Bin Laden...Why can't our government?!"
2GOLD Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 "Batman can find Osama Bin Laden...Why can't our government?!" "Sorry, we sent X-Force after him instead. Our bad."
Renegade Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 Is that smelly hippy Ollie going to stop Bats in the book?
Vampiro69 Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Osama are you dense? are you retarded? I am the God Damned Batman! Sadly that scene would be stupid yet cool at the same time.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 I am somewhat interested in this book, even if it results in "Car Crash Value". I have a feeling it may be hard to come across though, as I think a lot of people will buy it as a collector's item and by the time it is getting released, someone is going to try to put a ban on it.
ZGangsta Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Newsarama has a couple interviews with Frank Miller up (Part 1, Part 2, about a bunch of topics) and the more I hear about this, the more I want to read it. Miller comes across really great in those interviews. I'm also getting more and more into All Star Batman and Robin which obviously means something's wrong with me. 3 issues in and I'm sure I'll be buying the fourth even though it's just so wrong and seems tragically 'off' to me. Car crash syndrome I suppose.
