Jericho: Man of a 1,004 holds

www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3XnrJ26hQc&mode=related&search=

I don't think anyone's gotten up from the Saskatchewan spinning nerve hold.

Thanks for posting this. I remember seeing this on Nitro back when I was in 6th grade and just dying laughing. That feud with Malenko is what I still remember Jericho the most for outside of his debut on RAW.

I was a Senior in HS, and the kids I sat with at lunch hated Jericho.Hell, he didn't get love from any of the wrestling fans in school. I remember thinking, these guys have no idea how briliant this guy is. How much better his character is than anyone in the WCW, and probably all of North American wrestling. Jericho was also the guy I wanted to see at when Nitro was in town. Things didn't work so I didn't get to go.

Meng squashes a young kid named Damon Striker (Who later became a WWE World Champ) on an episode of WCW Pro from 2-3-96.

I had no idea he was in WCW. Really doesn't look much different.

IIRC, he only wrestled at one TV taping as a generic job guy. The same YouTube user that put up the Meng match also has a video of him getting squashed by The Taskmaster on there.

And now the god-awful intro to Superstars circa 1996.

That intro is awesome. I think my local Fox affiliate dumped the show by the time this intro was airing but I'm not sure... I can't say I remember it. The only one I actually do remember is the one where you have a moving POV shot in some magenta and purple space field while lasers go by.

If I didn't know that HHH's character was a blue blood I would have definitely thought the lyric was "BUTT is blue", but then again I often make malapropisms with song lyrics.

I'm sure if I had been watching wrestling in 1990, THIS intro would have been burned in my mind forever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79soWkXEJ1k

Best video I watched all day. It's a satellite feed of a very jobberific battle royal (With The Rock being the notable exception) that was aired on Shotgun in September 98. Since they overdub most of the commentary in later, it's just Michael Cole and Jim Cornette shooting the breeze and cracking jokes the whole time.

There are so many guys in there that I thought had been gone for months by that time (DOA, Los Boricuas, the guys from Kaientai that weren't Funaki and Taka). It's easily the least suspenseful battle royal I've ever watched.

I loved Cornette's overreactions to the "action" (THAT'S BULLSHIT! Togo was just thrown out by Funaki!) and Cole's random reference to Chris "Conan" Walker

Kevin Sullivan ring entrance, sounds like the first appearance of Woman. I love Gordon Solie's comment-"Frankly, there isn't much left to be said...Little or nothing can be said about this." You have to love her outfit. If they could have put 1/10 of this gimmick into the Dungeon of Doom later the pre-NWO WCW would have been a lot more exciting.

Sullivan vs Blackjack Mullligan around the same time. Sullivan's ring entrance music really got me laughing, I'd forgotten he'd used that. It's not the same as the first one, believe me. Nice short brawl. Mulligan was certainly past his prime but could still be used like this, he was wasted as a cartoon cowboy in the WWF a couple of years later but that's what New York was at the time. Crowd is hot, Solie captures it naturally, "This crowd wants to see Sullivan punished!" That they did.

Awesome stuff in the Shotgun Battle Royal. Marc Mero's hilarious with the crowd reaction after finally getting in the action.

Cornette: "There's Mosh... not selling ANYTHING from Papi Chuilo..."

NWO Nitro, part 1. There are others on there as well. I never saw it back when it aired, but it was a cool idea. Too bad they couldn't make it work. Rick Rude was the shit in his short NWO stint.

Ugh. I remember thinking how played out and boring this was when it originially aired.

Mero punching Papi Chulo once and then JUMPING FOR JOY was amazing.

Also, I couldn't help but crack up at "... wait. Togo just got eliminated by Funaki! That is bullshit!"

I think this was the week I started watching wrestling. The first PPV I rememebr hearing about was Breakdown. I lived on Tiger Ali Singh matches as a kid.

Michael Cole can be one funny bastard when he wants to be. Who was the third member of the Oddities there? The Giant Zelda?

Ivan Koloff Vs Bob Backlund from Herb Abrams UWF circa June '91

And since I'm on a Backlund kick for some reason

A six man tag that teams Bob Backlund, Jimmy Snuka and Mil Mascaras against Hector Garza and The Eliminators. This is from WAR circa 1995.

And lastly, Sid's first match in ECW against John Kronus. Funny for the ECW fans surprisingly huge pop for Sid and Sid just repeatedly yelling "I'M THE MAN!"

It's what we've all been waiting to show up on youtube...

PHANTASIO!

I think I'll just link to the guy all the videos are coming from, easier that way:

http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user...and1987&p=r

I find it weird at the end when Earl Hebner and Devito both look down each other's pants making sure that Phantasio took their boxers.

Giant Silva, probably.

I think that instead of Cole it was actually Kevin Kelly. The audio made it hard for me to determine though.
