Guest treble charged Report post Posted June 4, 2002 The only good thing about Detroit winning would be that my cable company has 3 local Detroit stations (my ABC, NBC, and one of my CBS affiliates are all from Detroit), so I could see what's going on in the dressing room after the final game for longer than I usually would get to. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 5, 2002 :Was it a Detroit station or a national one? Although a national one wouldn't likely have talked hockey long enough to do a fan call-in..... Actually, I live in Florida, so hearing them talk about hockey is absolutely insulting for someone like myself, growing up in Boston, and going to Bruin and Whaler games as a kid. The guy told me that the Wings were going to sweep the series. (speaking of which, I have to call him tomorrow. 3-2 f/OT!) His reason? The Red Wings are a higher seed than the Hurricanes! I told him, flat out that it didn't mean anything, as my hometown Bruins were taken out by an 8 seed, not to mention that the Low-Flyers were dropped/embarrassed by Ottawa. He asked my prediction, I responded 'Canes in 6. He laughed, and asked me if I thought that for real. I told him yes, the 'Canes would win Game 1, 3, 4 and 6 to win the series. The next thing I knew, he had hung up on me. Asshole. I can't wait to call him tomorrow. Sports Talk radio blows here in Florida, all they care about is basketball and football. Guest hockeytown9321 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 I guess the age question has been answered by Detroit. The oldest player in the game scores in the third OT. I give Carolina credit, though. They have had a chance to win every game in the series, but like I said before the series started, Detroit just has too much depth.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 They've all been thrilling games. I agree that Det. has too much depth, though. First, it was the grind line, for Det. and now the stars come out. Larionov's goal was beautiful, and I hate Det. so that's saying something. Looks like I'm shaving my head. Damn you 'Canes. Oh, by the way, how did 4 officials not see Jiri Fischer practice dentistry on Westlund? Jesus Christ, I felt that!
Guest starvenger Report post Posted June 13, 2002 >Oh, by the way, how did 4 officials not see Jiri Fischer practice dentistry on Westlund? Jesus Christ, I felt that! Well, the Powers That Be saw it, so if Detroit wins tonight, he won't be doing a victory lap with the Cup. If they don't, well, he might still get the chance. By the way, is the Stanley Cup celebration the greatest in pro sports or what? Presentations in the locker room - whassupwidat?
Guest hockeytown9321 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Actually I think Fischer is allowed to be on the ice for the celebration. His suspension ends as soon as the game is over.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Fischer is suspended from playing the game. He's not banned from the building. If they win,he'll be there in street clothes hoisting the Cup.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted June 13, 2002 I guess I'm wrong. Maybe he'll slip on the ice or something then... the hilarity!!
Guest starvenger Report post Posted June 14, 2002 Well, I said I'd say it if they won, so congratulations to the BEST team in the NHL in 2001-2002, the Detroit Red Wings. And TC, I get to keep my Coke
