Now, I remember seeing a preview for this movie early summer.  I have no clue and no idea as to how or why this movie was pushed back so far... nor do I know anyone involved with this picture.  But alas, I am intrigued by it... looks to be funny...

I'm not sure as to why it was delayed (I saw the previews a long time ago for it and laughed my ass of at them).

 

However I have another question about the movie. I was watching a commerical today for it (the one where the guy asks if the kids is going to spit in the burger) and for the first time I noticed that his name tag was bleeped out in certain parts of the commerical. Anyone know why?

Making fun of cops at ANY time is perfectly acceptable to me.  If it was Sept. 12 and this movie came out, I wouldn't be disgusted or offended.  Police, for the most part, are the real plague of our country.

A friend of mine saw a sneak preview of Super Troopers and called it "the best 80's movie to come out for the past few years," like a "7/10."  

 

I'm downloading it off Kazaa right now (I want to contribute my $7.00 to help it not bomb, but I got behind on watching films, so there are 13 films I have to see in the next three weeks), so I'll probably have it watched by Saturday morning.  I'll throw a review up.

Pretty much, I disagree with both of you.  The problems that plague our countries don't start with cops, they start with lawmakers.  The reasons cops have to give out tickets isbecause they have a monthly quota that they have to meet to get their checks, so that's why they don't give a second look to turning you in for a litle bag of pot.  That's a quick $500 fine for them.

 

The world would be much better if the number of cops in a lot of places was cut down signifigantly.  I live in a small, rich, New Jersey town.  And for some reason, they feel the need to have a HUGE force of cops who do absolutely nothing.  My father's a lawyer and is friend's with a lot of cops who readily admit that sometimes they just pull over on the side of the road and sleep because there's no crime in my town.  And when there's no crime, that's the time when they'll arrest nineteen year olds who are harmlessly drinking in their house.

 

And as for racial profiling, Bill Maher kind of stole a quote from DDP when he said, "That's not a bad thing, that's a good thing."

This is the wrong forum to be discussing this in, so I'll keep it brief.  No, I have not been racially profiled, I am white.  And I do not dislike cops because of laws and tickets, it is because their power goes to their heads.  There are reasons for this, which is not entirely their own fault, but it still happens.  And as for racial profiling being a "good thing," I can't believe ANYONE would think that.

Yes, he was referring to Middle Easterns.  Hope no one thinks I advocate the ranom pulling over of blacks.

 

Though it did inspire the "Sniggers" commercial from MAD TV, so it's can't be all that bad.

While I am a supporter of our justice system, I know that it is flawed....so criticizing our judicial system has its merits.

 

However, I recommend you go out and spend some time with your local police officers to understand them better.  Participate in a ride-along if you can.  You'll discover that most cops are just blue-collar guys who want to get through the day with as little danger as possible.  Are some of them on a power-trip?  Sure, but look at ANY profession where an individual is in a position of power and you will see the same thing.  Most cops are just regular guys, and not Dirty Harry.  

 

As for tickets, cops pretty much do that when they have nothing better to do.  I know this, because I have done a few ride-alongs, and cops DO NOT LIKE this duty.  You probably sit in your car and think to yourself, "This pig is fucking with me, giving me a ticket.  Why won't he just let me go?"  Most cops don't enjoy the process at all.  It's something that they're forced to do when there are no incoming calls or other pressing matters to take care of.  It's busy work.  Next time you get pulled over by a cop with a bad attitude about it, stop and consider that maybe he hates the whole process as much as you do.

You're making a BROAD generalization about ALL police officers, which is not factual and is more based upon personal opinion than truth.  At best, it's true for the *minority* of police officers out there.

Back to the topic at hand... I just came back from seeing the movie and it is fucking brilliant.  I don't see the big deal of it dealing with cops.  Well... ok, I do... but nothing to push it back 4 months.  Anyway, if you like comedies, see it.

Well, back to the movie.  I just came back from seeing it and I can safely say it's the funniest movie I've seen in quite a while.  It doesn't beat Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, but it's got some good laughs and nice T+A action.
