Guest heyimbro Report post Posted March 4, 2006 So I have about 6 gigs of music on my hard drive that I'd like to back up, but don't want to use 10 CDs. I just got a DVD-R+/R- burner, and was wondering.. can you burn files other than DVD ISO/movie files onto DVD-R discs and have them still work?
Carnival 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 yes, just burn it as a data dvd. that will take you 2 reg DVDR's. 4.5 gbs a piece.
Guest heyimbro Report post Posted March 4, 2006 Score, thanks. I was going to try that but I only have one DVD-R at the moment so I wasn't going to take the chance.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2006 I was thinking about the same thing, since I tried and tried but all I could do was put video footage on dvd's, I couldn't seem to write data. I'm using Nero but I can't seem to get it to work for data, is it the best program to use?
Carnival 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2006 I'm using Nero and it works just fine for burning data DVD's. What speed are you burning them at? What version of Nero do you have? Sometimes even the brand of DVD matters.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted March 25, 2006 If you get a dual-layer DVD-RAM, it'd be better. Don't waste a -R or +R on it. Any dual-layer disc is over 8 gigs, and the DVD-RAMs are believe are cheaper than -R and +R.
