Guest Arez Report post Posted March 12, 2006 So my mom is an accountant for this place that's a state funded type deal right. Anyway, the place she works for gives them laptops to take home to do work at home sometimes. My mom already has her own laptop, but her boss gave her a laptop of someone that had gotten fired (and this laptop has a dvd burner in it...so you can see where this tweaks my interest). Anyway, the bitch that got fired had the comp set up to where only she could log on to the computer with her password. Now, I told my mom that I could probably get around that, but I'm really not sure how I'm gonna do this, because I haven't even seen the damn thing yet. Anybody got any suggestions? I know the OS is Windows XP Professional and it's got some kind of network thing. Help would be appreciated, and I probably won't dance at your wedding (as my cabbage patch would offend, especially after a fifth of seagrams and my pants to my knees, COMMANDO). Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Re-installing XP would be the best option, since you don't care about any of the shit on there now. But, if you don't have a copy of XP... you'll have to find another product key.
ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 You might just have to re-install XP, which would benefit you, because all of her files would be erased when you do this. Uh, no they wouldn't. The registry would be rewritten, necessitating the reinstallation of most of the software on the machine, but all the files on the hard drive would still be there. Reformating the hard drive will destroy everything. Reinstalling Windows is not the same as reformatting the disk.
