Time to get a new car soon

Recommended Posts

I picked this up today, and guess what.

There were two 10" color-coordinated subwoofers in the trunk. I had wondered why the stereo was putting out so much goddamned bass and couldn't figure it out until I opened the trunk to put some groceries in there. I'm selling them as soon as possible because I want trunk space, it's needless weight, and I can probably get a decent bit of coin for them and the box they're mounted in.

Don't sell! I want the mental image of you blasting "Call On Me" all throughout Charleston. Well, I guess your choice to sell shouldn't affect my mental picture (I still live in an alternate universe in which Lastings Milledge looks like Rollie Fingers), but still.

You bought a car without looking in the trunk? Patrick, you're great. Glad it seems to be awesome otherwise, at least.

I had no reason to think it wouldn't be 100% like the trunk of every other '99-'04 that I've seen, including the one I owned in 2003. They didn't even tell me it was back there when I bought it, and I found an amplifier back there when I looked further into it today! The little bit of exposed yellow wire that I saw in the interior when I was initially checking it out ended up leading to the amp and the subs, which are both from Bazooka.

I took it by my friend's house tonight. He runs a Mustang performance parts business and told me after a drive and look-around that not only does it have Flowmaster mufflers, it has a Prochamber H-pipe and 3.55 gears, in addition to a K&N intake. These amount to about 20hp over stock (total of 280hp at the crank and probably 260 being put down to the tires) and it's apparently one of the best casual modification setups I could have. I don't plan on doing anything more than what's on it now, since it's already beyond what I would have planned. I do plan on converting all of the dash lights and gauges to a light, cool blue to match the aftermarket stereo head unit and make the outdated (even at the time it was built) interior look at least a little current.

I'm improving on my ability with a manual gearbox, but it helps that the car creates so much torque with those 3.55's in the back that I don't even have to use 1st or 2nd gears during normal driving. It came stock producing 302lb/ft of torque as it was. When you want to get on it, it's sublime.
